No theories. Personally, I don't care if Sora's mother is relevant, I just want her to be there. To see her. I want Destiny Islands to be a place we go to and from throughout the story of KH3, and I want to be able to see and speak to Sora's and Riku's parents as well as other inhabitants of the islands.

To be honest I dont get why everyoen are making theories about Sora's mother. It's obvious that she went to the Realm of Darkness (aka Hell of Kingdom Hearts universe) with the rest of Destiny Islands.
Then after the worlds returned from darkness everyone that had any ties to Sora forgot about him because of what happend at Castle Oblivion.
And then she continued to live for a way without even knowing that she had a son...man this is pretty awful when you think about it. Perhaps she had some flashbacks like Roxas had.
Simplest answer is the best, IMO.
I've gotten to where I find it pretty pointless to speculate and come up with wild theories and head-cannons about this kind of stuff. At the end of the day, we have no part in making these games, so whatever we get is what we get. I know people can get really upset if things aren't just the way they imagined them, so I just spare myself the frustration.

it wasn't that quick Jon B. If you remember, Kairi started remembering, because she is linked to him and experienced some of it, but she asked Selphie, and Selphie didn't. There there is nothing to suggest they remembered him before he returned to Destiny Islands
Jonasz Przybycień I don't think anybody realizes, that Destiny islands isn't where Sora lives. He lives on an island near that. Same for Kairi & Riku. After sora locked the keyhole to darkness in the first one, destiny islands came back to the light. Hence why in KH2 final cutscene soar was there. Also adding to that, you can see sora going to destiny islands in the beginning on a canoe when he first got the keyblade

I has a rational theory: The night Sora leaves Destiny Islands it is destroyed and isn't restored till the end of KH1 . During the entirety of the first game his mother and everyone else have simply disappeared with the island. When their hearts return to the island after its restoration Sora's mom has only been aware of him missing for a couple of hours their time(maybe less), but Kairi is there and explains everything to Sora's and Riku's parents. Of course they're skeptical at first but after awhile they believe her and worry and hope their sons get home safe and hopefully soon. By the end of KH:COM Sora has been wiped from everyone's minds, his parents don't even remember they have a son. At the begining of KH2 their memories start coming back and of course they start worrying again maybe even being shocked that they forgot they had a son but at the end of KH2 Sora comes back, their worrying is over, and their questions answered(and probably their consciences cleared of the guilt of forgetting their son when they learn that they didn't actually forget him, he was just erased from their minds).
His mom is Xehanort. Why? BECAUSE EVERYONE'S XEHANORT! I'm Xehanort, you're Xehanort, he's Xehanort, I don't even know what that thing over there IS, but it's probably Xehanort too. Hell, Even Sora's Xehanort!

There's also the possibility that Sora's mother never made it back to the island after it was destroyed by darkness. We know that Sora, Riku, and Kairi were displaced while the islands were being destroyed; however, I think I remember some of the NPCs in Traverse Town talking about how not everyone made it. It could be possible that Sora's mother and/or father were sent into some other world, and never found a way back to the island! It's not really that important, but it's interesting to think about.
Then maybe in KH 3 Sora will go rescue her? Tha would have been nice to see.
Given Disney's track record I am not surprised shes not involved, Disneys never been big on the whole parents thing in most of their fairy tails. That said Chances are she was worried about him for the most part. We do know that while Sora was having his memories pieced together by Namine between CoM and KHII people who knew Sora, Donald, and Goofy would forget about them. There was even a point in KHII where when Sora returned to Hollow Bastion they comment on how they all just remembered him all at the same time.
Can you imagine the kind of stress that would have caused Sora's mother? A whole year of ignorance, having forgotten her own son. Then just suddenly out of the blue remembers him, and realizes shes forgotten about him for a whole year, and that hes missing? I can't even begin to imagine the kind of stress, worry, heartache and guilt she would be going through. She doesn't know whats happening to Sora or the circumstances regarding his disappearance. So she doesn't know that her forgetting him, and him vanishing, is all due to magic. The levels of guilt and self loathing "what kind of mother forgets her own child?" plaguing her mind.
I imagine that Sora returning at the end of KHII was a relief for her, and I do hope that shes given an explanation on everything thats gone on. Honestly given how Disney and SE try to pin down the people who have a strong connection to Soras heart, and how great his actions effect them, I'm surprised the fact his own family isnt involved in that.

I told my brother and sister that Sora's mom is a paid actress and his dad is imaginary. Sora has no parents. He was born via a mini big bang. He is the Jesus of the Kingdom Hearts world. I mean he did already die and resurrect. (Please note that I am kidding. And yes, I am sober).

yeah i played the game throght like 6th time and in start he stands by the tree, and the in mail box saying something like "I don't know where my parent are" etc shit, jiminys journal says about tidus "noone saw him after destiny islands got destroyed" and i'm like "DAFUQ there he is" same cothes, same tidus, only that he looks sad and depressed.
+Shadowspeare1 Selphie actually does show up in KH2 when you're playing as Roxas. She's in the cutscene that plays after Roxas falls off the clock tower. She and Kairi are walking down the street in school uniforms, and they talk about the island and the other characters (Kairi still doesn't remember Sora at this point). Selphie also brings up Tidus and Wakka by saying, "Tidus and Wakka are caught up in a ball game," or something to Kairi.
So the other island kids are still very much alive, they just haven't shown up again because they're not very important to the story.

It's just... Sora doesn't seem to give a crap about her. And knowing his caring, loving nature "to anything that has a pulse" (Super Butterbuns, I think?), you think we'd have a single scene or conversation or ANYTHING devoted to his mother. It just makes him seem selfishly selective of who he cares about.
Like, Sora continued to love and care about Riku after he tried to murder him several times! So unless Sora's mom was the village witch who murdered his dad, ate puppies and regularly poisoned Sora's food, I think he should at least have a passing thought, you know?

My theory: After the events of Final Fantasy VIII, (A game about time travel, which would explain why Selphie and Seifer are so young in comparison), Squall and Rinoa thought they would live happily ever after, but then the Heartless arrived. Squall took Rinoa to safety on Destiny Islands and went off to fight, and when the worlds started disappearing, they lost contact with each other, and Rinoa wasn't able to tell Squall that she'd had a son named Sora.

The whole entire KH series was just Sora's dream. The purpose of the dream was to teach Sora great philosophical and moral lessons, help him overcome his jealousy towards Riku, and to make their friendship better. The raft hasn't been built yet and his dinner is still fresh.

I like to think that after the end of Kingdom Hearts 2, Sora does indeed meet his mother again and they catch up on what happened.
