@@csil2863 Yep, let alone Health wise, that had to be the must unsafe of ways to exit/enter the machine, let alone open the door.
Take wet muddy conditions, no site is ever dry.. the excavation work and likely over time greasing the slide rails, it was done.
This man was just the JCB promotion operator, given if had to work the machine all day, weeks on end... well would not work and most likely end in injury.

Australian here,we had a JCB 2 backhoe on the farm in the '80's.Though a bit underpowered by the Nuffield 3 cylinder motor and a 5speed manual trans with a really slow reverse,it was a big digger with the hoe.I really liked the 2 stick hydaulic control. We replaced it with a Case 580 CK and I'm still having trouble with the Cases 3 stick hoe controls as I was so use to the JCB ones.

A time when everyone lived in a brick building. The actor jumping out of the machine was comical at best. You could see his jerkiness when operating this as no competent operator would be that bad. Thank God for JCB and the founder for helping us forward our industry of work.

That first bloke knocking down a building by slewing the complete back actor would have had the sack for that. As would the next bloke loading the lorry with the back actor stuck right out like that. He's also very lucky anyway insofar as none of those bricks came out over the back of the front bucket and came down and smashed his windscreen. Getting in and out of the cab could be nasty. Many times I caught one of the levers in my boiler suit or jacket and suddenly the boom would come flying up to meet you or, worse still, if you caught the slewing lever and suddenly it looked as if you were going to get crushed between the boom and the slide rails. But the machine was a great improvement on a shovel ! As a great friend of mine used to say "there's no pain with one of those" when he was talking about the digger. As someone else has said, it was a Super Major skid unit and there were no front supports for the engine, it all hung on the bell housing which I always thought was a bit crude. Mine was the first JCB I ever bought. Purchased s/h in 1969 for £350 !

There's a couple of notch back rear window Ford Anglia's, so it's post 1959, the JCB has a local Staffordshire registration as JCB is in Staffordshire,it was probably a factory demo model, SBF xxx was issued in October 1961.

Nice video, watched it as we've just got (now sold) a 63 JCB 3 that had stood outside on a farm for 20 years, cab and mudgaurds are rough (all there except for rear window hatch but lots of rust) but runs and works ok, actually quite a cute little machine as it's significantly smaller than the 3C's/CX's etc.
