    I knew nothing of D3 until 18 months ago. Started out with 5000 a day with K-2. Blood was like 21ng which is low, but I had no idea. So went to 10,000 D3 daily for 6 months. Next blood test I was at 41ng. So went to 15,000-20,000 D3 6 more months and now I sit around 65ng which is a good number. I now take 20,000 daily D3 with K-2. 55 year old male in shape living in Texas. I also did some on and off fasting for 3 months 18 hour fast 6 eating. It's not that hard really once you get into it. I lost 25 pounds.

    My thyroid was removed first partially, then a month later full removal and radiation 15 years ago. My weight started increasing in spite of activity levels or healthy diet. I had emergency gallbladder removal a few years after that. Had no advice from the surgeon, nor did I have any idea how this would effect me. I had trouble digesting, aches and weight increases. My right knee was so painful, it made walking very hard and got so bad that when taken to emerg, they would give me morphine, which only made loopy and crutches. The knee “wasn’t bad enough” for surgery. No pill helped and neither did the cane. I was at a health food store and while looking for supplements, one of the staff asked if she could help. I told her I’d been doing a red onion and Epsom salt wrap on my knee, I’d found on TH-cam and that helped tremendously and asked for anything to help further. She suggested K2 MK7 to take nightly and increase Vit D3 and take ox bile. I went from unable to walk to increased ability for more exercises, including squats. Lost 22 pounds in a few months while not starving myself. Haven’t done the onion wrap in ages….now if only my fatty liver and gastritis go away….

      @J Vega, just a critical point Berg doesn't mention, is that not any old sunshine, no matter how warm & bright, will work. It must have UVB!
      UVB is the only way to make Hormone☀D in our skin and dietary options are always insufficient at best! (Main reason we have flu/cold 'season'!) But higher latitude seasonality and time of day are critical! Shorter day supplementation💊💊💊 is always needed.
      Even in my warm California Winter, we have no UVB! Though Semi-Tropical Panhandle Florida, Tropical Hawai'i and Puerto Rico supply it around noon, YEAR-LONG! Latitude geography determines if the tiny wave-length fraction that's UVB can penetrate our atmosphere when the Sun is over the other hemisphere! D3 + K2 are the only supplements we ancient migrants need, at least on a seasonal basis.
      Fauci, a thin Elder, takes 6,000IU/day in Summer, but 8,000IU/day in Winter.
      Obese like me need 10,000-30,000IU/day!

    I'm taking 30 thousand IU of D3 daily temporarily and have been doing so the last 3 months. Before this I had been taking about 4000 IU daily and walking in the Florida afternoon sun 3 times a week like I do everyweek. Before I was feeling ok but when I increased my dosage to 30k a day I felt like my body went to the next level. Pains that I've had in my body that have lightly lingered for years have gone away and it's like I got an energy pack on the last month plus. Not to be bias but I am taking Dr Berg's D3 because of the concentration of D3 IU per capsule. There are 10k per capsule and I take 3 per day. It also has K2, magnesium, zinc, and B6 in it. I'm still about 50 pounds overweight, recovering from type 2, and in my mid 40s so I think that is one reason I've needed more to help absorb, repair, and recover.

    Counter to advice in the past, I started taking vitamin D with my dinner, and it's been helping control my inflammation due to degenerative disc disease. I'm also taking 1 1/2 tablespoons of MCT oil after dinner to bump my ketones into the fasting period.

    • @CarbageMan
      @CarbageMan 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Get em Boi I'm best described as "ketovore." When I did quarterly fasts of a week or two, my ketones went high enough that I rarely had much pain at all.
      After I became fully fat adapted and always in ketosis, my ketones dropped to a maintenance level-probably on the order of what my body thinks it needs. Even 20/4 to 18/6, my ketones didn't reach as high as they used to. I found that I need to fast at least a couple separate days a week to get my ketones as high as I want, and that, ultimately, having MCT oil at the end of my eating period helps me boost the ketones ASAP to maximize the effect.
      Hope that helps.

    • @CarbageMan
      @CarbageMan 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Get em Boi Well, I'm not a doctor, and anything I say isn't medical advice, but comes from my experience.
      If I was vegetarian, I'd mix in lots of eggs. I don't know what you think about lean fish, but if 16/8 maybe might start the day with a small amount of lean fish, then maybe four hours later, something with a lot of eggs (like four.) For dinner, maybe a fatty fish (I'm ketovore, so basically, for me, this would be switching to seafood.) Shrimp is a good lean meat, too, for first meal.
      If fighting DDD, I'd try that, but in order to max ketosis, it would be necessary to get the net carbs and maybe the total carbs down really low, and that's tough for vegetarians.
      You might look into reading Thomas DeLauer's "New Mediterranean Diet" cookbook if you're planning to phase in meats.
      PS: Yes, if DDD, I'd try boosting ketones with 1.5 Tbsp MCT oil after dinner. Be sure and get exercise within a couple hours (low-level cardio, like a walk or stationary bike, etc) to burn that oil and produce ketones.

      Excellent! So glad for you. My dad will be 91 this month, Oct, 2021. My mom has had him taking supplements for years. My mom told me they take 10,000 IUs of D per day. I thought that was too much for them to take at once. But after seeing this, I guess it's not too much. I told her to cut the vitamin in half and only take half. Or take the whole thing every other day since it's stored in your fat. But I'm going to tell her to cut it in half and take half in the morning and the other half at night. I think that'll be okay. Both my parents are very healthy. They never get sick and they never take a flu shot! They will not be taking this co vid shot either. They don't need it with all that D3 they're taking along with other vital supplements to boost their immune system. I will not be taking that co vid injection either.
