Fun fact: Nyahururu was formerly known as Thompson Falls town. The river with the falls is the same one in Samburu and Isiolo. The area between Naivasha and Nakuru was once known as " The Happy Valley", a book "White mischief" has been written about life in the area, and one of the streams in the area is named "wanjohi" (alcohol) river because the residents in their swinging parties used to pour so much whiskey into the river. Most farmers in the area were originally Afrikaners from the Transvaal, and had a Jan van Riebeck schule, now known as Ndururumo. Ndururumo is the original name of the falls, meaning thunderous sound.

It's quite fun how this resort is literally a walking distance from town yet you can just walk a few yards behind it and feel as if you're deep in the forest interacting with elephants, hippos and at times buffaloes.
This video is soo netflix worthy! i was captivated the whole time! i have been to Nyahururu thousands of times but i have never thought much of the place beyond the thompsons falls// Panari is so beautiful! P.S: i hope you enjoyed the suicide stairs. Easy to to down, different story going back up! 🤣🤣

This is where I was born, we know it as Kirurumo, which translated means a roar, or Nyahururu Falls. Thompson Falls is what the foreigners call it, but we don't recognize that name.

There is a area in nyahururu,called ol' joro orok. In that area,exists a cottage known us olrok with strawberry farm. It's so exotic and majical. 60$ a night and you get to enjoy a bonfire, organic strawberries a majical 'blue' coloured dam and much much more
I really miss the place especially the waterfall it was right next to my former boarding school. It's always really cold throughout the year in the night and during early mornings there but usually warm and sunny during the day. The locals had a name for it though before the Thompson name 😃
I truly believe this is your best trip yet!! To be honest I heard of this place but I never thought it was this epic. The attention to detail! The Food, you even had Irio 😂😂 Not to mention the Falls!!

Thomson's Falls Lodge is still there, but looking a little worn. I think that Panari has taken away quite a bit of the Lodge's business.

Thompson falls reverted to the indeginous; Nyahururu, Lake ol bolosat, is the only lake in central Kenya, AND it's shrinking!!!
