  • Keystone wall design
To lean more go to retainingwalls...
There are two design principles for Keystone retaining wall gravity and soil reinforcement.
Gravity walls can be built up to 800mm using the blocks only. The concrete backfill is required for higher walls.
When the retaining wall is over 1.5m, soil reinforcement becomes a more economical solution.
You can see some examples of the Keystone retaining walls in these images.
    Keystone blocks
The blocks are 455mm long, 300mm deep, 200mm high, and weigh 40kg.
The blocks come in a number of colours, including flint, Yorkshire, sandstone, ivory and pewter.
There are standard blocks, split blocks, and corner blocks to create a fully bonded wall.
We can schedule the correct number and type of blocks for your project and obtain a quotation from the manufacturer for you as part of our service.
    Slopeloc
An alternative to Keystone is Slopeloc.
Slopeloc is a dry-laid concrete block system with a unique ribbed face. Slopeloc can be built as a gravity wall and is easily erected by the DIY enthusiast or as a structural wall using soil reinforcement.
    The blocks are 245mm long x 300mm deep x 125mm high and weigh 20kg.
The blocks come in several colours, including, Hamstone, Ivory, Bathstone, Terracota, Black, Russet & Pewter.
    Keystone design principles
The design principles are similar to Keystone.
Keystone and Slopeloc soil reinforced walls are constructed in a similar way. We have an installation manual that describes the full process.
The images on the page show the geogrid being laid out before being covered in soil. You can also see how the geogrid connects to the Keystone block using pegs.
