We all loved her mothers genius but Lisa allows us all to relax and enjoy her mothers music, sung so brilliantly and happily by her daughter. Very few children can hold a candle to their very famous parents but Lisa has something Nina Simone would have given her life for and that is the enjoyment of the moment. Lisa sings free without the caged mind that her poor mother suffered with. For all the difficulty in childhood Lisa is fantastic and very talented she is the epitome of getting on with it, and doing it.
This is by far the best version I have ever heard of this song and I'm an old hippie (by old hippie I mean I was an adult when the first version came out with the musical). For decades I loved Nina Simone's version. Yet the sensitivity Lisa puts into this is absolutely amazing. Beautiful beautiful song so well done.
