How To Replace 350z Rear Main Seal. *SECRET WIPERBLADE METHOD*

Today I show everyone how to PROPERLY install the 350z rear main seal, Using a SECRET "Shoe Horn" method, WITHOUT dropping the oil pan during the process.
After installing the rear main by watching others online and then messing up my first attempt in the process "1:39". I decided to create my OWN method.
Which brought back memories from the old two piece rear main seal style.
Which also came with a small shoehorn.

So far so good, no leaks reported. Good luck on your clutch job. I recommend an Exedy stock clutch kit, they are awesome clutches, and very affordable. If you run into any problems, doing your rear main and clutch, don’t hesitate to reach out.

Awesome video will be using this method to change out my rear main seal soon! Is it fully necessary to sand down the edge at the bottom if im gonna be using the small plastic piece to help slide the seal in? When using the plastic shouldnt it just glide over the edge no matter if its sanded or not? Also would u recommend rtving the bottom of the seal after the seal is in?

Good morning.
I don’t think it’s entirely necessary to sand the lower edge, it’s just an added step to help ease the seal sliding in place. Sanding the edge is very simple and only takes a few seconds. The important part of the silicone is to make sure you put it on the flat surface of the oil pan ( I personally wouldn’t recommend putting silicone on the U-shaped part of the oil pan before sliding the seal in, just because it’s not necessary) and the surface of the engine block where the aluminum housing of the oil seal joins the block. You also want to put a little bit of silicone in the corners of the, lower seal and the very end of the lower seal. For example, if you look at the lower seal as a smiley face you want to make sure silicone is in the upper corner and under corners of the 90° turn to the left and turn to the right at the end of the smiley face -u-
Adding silicone all the way around the lower seal after the installation is totally fine, just remember before tapping in the pins to try to squeeze some silicone in the area where the plastic shoehorn may have removed some when pulling the shoehorn out, as shown in the video.

Update: I did mine for cheaper price. I got a 2L of store brand cream soda. Drank all of it then cut that out into a sleeve. Used that and DEF no leaks 👍🏽 works better because the bottle is already in correct shape. Just cut the sleeve and it ll close in. Wrap it around crank shaft and lube sleeve. 👍🏽 worked perfectly
