It's been a pleasure working with you on this. Thanks! I was working on a demo for a compo then one day I got tired and wrote some seconds of a cover of Twin. I posted a WIP to Abstract's channel and then somehow it inspired him to work on this. He was complaining about the 32-pitch limit and asked if Furnace could support software pitch like TIATune. This is where I realized I could both add this feature to Furnace and submit the demo of it to the compo. Even if it would take my time off the main thing, I really didn't want this to go to waste because of the pitch limitation ❤ Also yes I told him to hold back and release it in my birthday of June 25 and I'm sorry for that 😅
nah, thank YOU for listening to me whining and putting the effort to make this a reality. if you didnt come in clutch with the engine this wouldve turn out worse and sounds like just any other 2600 covers that would exist. 💖 also happy birthday man!! all good with the hold back lol it was worth it for the big reveal
The part starting at 1:34 with that SN7-6.25%pulse-like wave lasting for roughly a full minute is very reminiscent of the demoscene, specifically the Atari demo Liquid Candy.
*You Unlocked: True Atari 2600 Sound Capabilities* Great job! You guys did the thing that no other person would do... *Making TIA your music making machine!*
writing your OWN engine simply to deal with Furnace's pitching is THE MOST. INSANE. THING. IVE HEARD. ANYONE. DO! you 2 absolutely pulled off the most legendary TIA tune every created by mankind. not even a _slight_ understatement, its _that amazing!_
You took a chip people in the era couldn't even keep in tune and made this incredible banger with it. Wow. Pity there's no way to actually run Furnace TIA on 2600 hardware AFAIK
TIA: Try It Anyway This shit is beautiful, like gawd dayum bro its so fire. Thanks for sharing the .fur file so others can learn how its made. I hope they add support for the Pitfall 2 DPC chip someday, I could only imagine the possibilities for that. Furnace just keeps getting better and better.
this is such a hard fuckin TIA song, and rlly cool visualizer also! its honestly amazing how nowadays the TIA isn't that out of tune anymore :D such a cool engine really capturing melody, also! u both did great!
when i heard the original wip for this i knew i was in for a ride, given what you've done with the tia in the past i was not disappointed keep cooking 🔥 (and props to natt for making the chip slightly more usable)
Awesome! Cannot stop listening to it :) Please do not forget to submit Your entry to ATARI VCS 2600 MSX COMPO at Silly Venture 2024SE (15-18 AUGUST 2024)!
My old man recollection is that the original replacement for the VCS (sorry, it will always be that for me) had two TIA's. Somewhere along the way POKEY came into becoming a reality.
damn what'd i need 10 channels for 🤔🔥
for this wonderful piece to actually sing 💖
YOOOOOO!!! 🤯🥳
This is absolutely the wrong soundchip for this kind of music and I love it!

You took a chip people in the era couldn't even keep in tune and made this incredible banger with it. Wow. Pity there's no way to actually run Furnace TIA on 2600 hardware AFAIK
Actually Natt made a binary of the song.

My old man recollection is that the original replacement for the VCS (sorry, it will always be that for me) had two TIA's. Somewhere along the way POKEY came into becoming a reality.
🔥🔥🔥
how is this only two channels?! I think bro is hacking !
PEAKKKKKKKKKKKK
Very nice
Nice Tia tune!😄🤩😎👌
i cant handle the peak
How is this in tune and how much CPU is needed?
pitch modulation engine written by natt running at 15700hz, uses 2/3 of the cpu time
@VinsCool should try running this on her Atari.
now a 20 channel version. banger as always!!!
:3
WHAT
Now what
What about a 3D Oscilloscope with 3 channels
how what
how.
No idea how you made it sound tuned but its very nice!
custom sound engine ftw ;D
Is this playable on hardware?
yes, you need a 32kb cart to play this specific song though
?????????
