After a bundle of stress, anxiety & setbacks I finally passed my test, 2nd attempt, on the 25th of May! ✨ My motivation was for my late friend Andrew who had sadly passed away last year during the pandemic, he had a ‘test pass’ card made for me which he never got to give personally, he had it tucked away for me once I had achieved it, his family had given it to me before his funeral. Soon as I get a car in a couple weeks I will visit him where he rests & finally open it up in his honour, to let him know I’ve finally done it for him! 🙂 To every cloud there is a silver lining …💫 Thank you Pin Paji for sharing your knowledge with us all & to those who are all on their learning journey, don’t give up & remember why you started in the first place, you will succeed….💚 🧙♂️💚
@@mishalw210 It’s not as hard as you think. It’s one of those things that all you need to do is learn it, and you will be good at it. Trust me. And my Dad taught me over and over and over and over until I would be exhausted. But nothing can fully prepare you until you start driving in traffic yourself. That’s when you will really learn. It is scary so make sure you drive with someone. or drive at times of day when it is not a lot of traffic. When I first started driving I only went out when it wasn’t full of traffic because it was so scary I almost had a panic attack because I was scared lol. But now I know how to drive and I can see I was scared for nothing !!!
The test just teaches you maybe 10% of what you actuslly need to know, the rest you learn on your own and is pure logic and street smart. Such as traffic flow dynamics, engine coasting vs braking (and ither advanced car manipulation tricks), confidence and quick judgements, etc.
Been driving my own car for a few days now. Felt like a learner all over again for a bit but it’s so amazing. You can do this guys. The reward of the freedom is incredible. It’s just the insurance that isn’t fun 😅
Congrats!! It really is amazing. I'm also in the same boat, I feel a little anxious each time I drive but I guess it will pass with time :D Also it feels like you start properly learning only after passing. Like how to drive on motorways, how to let someone in, create space, thank people etc. Also I find that watching near accident or accident analysis videos really makes me learn all the ways things could go wrong and how to drive to prevent those situations in the first place.
Headphones in while on a mock test kinda disrespectful. Put your all into it instead of acting like you already have a full licence. If he had to tell you something your too busy listening to the pods then what will happen? Can’t deal with peoples self entitled attitudes.
I’m Autistic and if I had the opportunity to have some kind of headphones on in A stressful situation to calm me down I would love that (ofc not on full blast, would still be able to hear people talking etc) Wouldn’t be doing it in a disrespectful manner and would talk with the instructor about it beforehand but yeah, it depends on the individuals situation..
I passed my test first time a month ago, and I did absolutely terribly with lots of minors for mistakes caused by test anxiety. Watching these videos now without the stress of hoping to pass is so gratifying and helpful. Thanks so much.
I'm glad you showed her how to get to the biting point at the end. I can imagine that Sandy never had it pointed out to her what exactly she has to do not to stall a car. I can remember during one of my driving lessons I pretty much stalled the car one after another but my instructor never told me how exactly I could get to the biting point lol so I had to figure it out myself over the next few lessons and it drove me nuts. Either way, seems like she just needs to get more familiar with the gears and the rest should figure itself out after the basics are really down.
@@OnlyGrafting that’s anecdotal, under stress I know I’d stall more than once on my test 😂😂 my plan is pass in automatic, build some experience take one or two lessons in manual and take a manual test later on since I’m quite deep in with my instructor now I can’t switch to manual 😂 but i would rather have the option of manual of course because it really wasn’t hard to get the hang of
Great driving videos, detailed and educational. I passed my practical today, my 3rd attempt with 1 minor fault. The biggest lesson I learnt is you need to have a good instructor and enjoy their style of learning. My 1st instructor was incompetent, and had a very strange way of teaching and often used to make me feel on edge and uneasy. If you gut instinct says that you are not progressing with your driving then take the courage to find a new instructor. Have faith in yourself and be confident, and finally be proactive when learning how to drive. Good luck to those who are leaning, you CAN DO IT!
In this day and age with power steering I still don't understand the need to feed the wheel through your hands. That should have gone out with the ark. That was OK in the days when there was no power steering and you needed a bit of strength also the steering on a lot of old cars was worm gear rather than rack and pinion. I saw someone a few weeks back struggle to get round a corner because they were feeding the wheel through their hands. It looked like someone not long through their test. Clipped the kerb twice because of it too. I passed my test first time in 1975 and the first thing I did was drop the feed through the hands. No accidents and still have a clean licence.
@@ChrisAndCats I think it's more that 10 to 2 is a natural position for most people. When I passed my test in 1975 PAS wasn't a thing and steering wheels tended to be big. Fine if you were a man and had the strength to feed the wheel through your hands as you were taught - much harder for small women like myself so as soon as I passed my test, the feeding went out the window and I crossed my hands. So much easier. Seems to be a relic from the past they've held on to. Remember when brakes weren't servo assisted? You literally had to jump on the brake pedal to do an emergency stop and if you had air in the system had to pump the brake pedal like mad. I once had total brake failure in a Morris Minor. Not something I'd like to repeat but no harm was done except I shook like a leaf for a while. I cringe when I think of the deathtraps I drove as a young driver but I'm still here to tell the tale.
@@Pythonaria I think it's all about safety, technically it is safer to feed it through your hands when you're a learner, once you've got some experience you can fully let go of the steering wheel to help you turn faster but looking back to when I was learning you just don't have that level of control
@@fatbroccoli8 I would have said it was a lot harder as no power steering back in the 1970s but from a purely female's point of view, the heavy steering did wonders for the figure 🤣

Just breathe when you’re nervous & I hope you pass your test too.
You guys need to relax. She probably wasn’t listening to music during the test don’t be daft. She probably forget they were in her ears. These AirPods don’t drown out background noise hence why she was able to hear Pin.
Wearing AirPods while driving? Not a good idea.. Of course she is still learning but her awareness while driving needs alotta work. That could've gone wrong way too many times. Pin, I think you are shaving off some years of your life in this line of work. Time for a career change? 😂
@@anisaxx6825 if the learner is really stuck and holding up traffic the examiner will step in but will be a fail. She wouldn't even be allowed to start her test with airpods in 🙈
This test annoyed me so much. The AirPods are a bit disrespectful and it’s like she didn’t even try to go the right way, she just knew she could get away with going the wrong way.
I don’t think you should’ve asked for her to do a U turn on the mini roundabout. Couldn’t you have just asked her to turn left and asked her to do a U turn on the bigger roundabout by the carpark?
I would have fucked up the same way. Only been on 2 roundabouts my whole life in the usa. Both times I get anxious af. They confuse the fuck out of me and even tho that would have been an easy u turn I would have fucked it up as soon as the word roundabout came up 😂
Just want to thank you commitment uploading these videos they helped me out so much! I passed my test first time yesterday with 6 minors! Will continue to watch and learn 👍🏼
These round abouts confuse me! I'm from US. I think driving on the right side of the road is so much easier but probably just because that's what I learned and know!
Driving in the left to me makes more sense - not just because that's what I've learned/am used to, but because the majority of people are right handed, therefore it makes more sense to me for the driver to be on the right side of the vehicke, to hold the steering wheel with the dominant/right hand and change gear with the left, non dominant hand. Changing gear the other way round feels all kinds of wrong to me for that reason! With regards to roundabouts, they're pretty easy. You always give way to traffic from the right (unless they're traffic light controlled and say otherwise). Generally, you're in the left lane to turn left, left or middle lane where there is one for straight on, and right lane for turning right. Where there's a 2 lane approach and exit, you can follow round in both lanes.
It's no different, it just means everything is opposite... I've been on a few roundabouts in USA and it's clear none of you know wtf you're doing on them lol
On USA roundabouts just give way to cars already on the roundabout or ones to the left of you, go around the roundabout until you get to your exit. It helps to think of them as a normal junction but instead you have to go in a circle... I haven't seen any double or more lane roundabouts in USA so I'm not gonna bother explaining that
Passed my test on the 21st last month, feels like such a relieve watching these videos without any stress. Thank you very much for your ultimate driving course and youtube videos, they helped so much. Goodluck to anyone taking their test soon😊🙂.
the highway code suggests to avoid doing u-turns on mini-roundabouts for this reason. imo it should be a hard-rule. there is usually not enough turning circle on most cars to make the maneuver in one go.
After a year of watching, I can proudly say I've passed the 2nd time with 4 minors! Thank you so much for all the videos; they have helped me through 0 hours to 52 hours of lessons :) I will continue watching your videos as support.
Same. Yesterday got it first time with 7 minors. To be fair, i kept pushing the test date back because lack of confidence. These videos are really helpful as they show you mistakes very clearly, which you might not always notice yourself when driving. And once you keep noticing them on here you catch yourself out and improve faster.
I hate to say this but the Highway Code does say that you should avoid doing u turns on mini roundabouts. That mini roundabout was really difficult, not enough space
I learned this lesson the hard way on my first time out alone. Thought I'd get away with it because the roads were empty. Thank god, cos I made an utter pigs ear of it 🙈
I drive everyday for my job there are so many people on the road that definitely should not be driving and I don’t know how they passed any test. I still say every single person who drives should have to take a new driving test every few years because most people don’t even read signs or arrows painted on the damn road it’s absurd how many dangerous people are driving.
the airpods are distracting her. she needs complete focus. i think she would be okay, but she isn't paying attention for that reason. hope she learns for next lesson! :)
Passed the other week and when people say it’s like learning to drive again it is, it’s so strange not having someone sat next to me but I’ve got used to it now and it’s an amazing feeling
For all the people questioning why this young lady is wearing AirPods (not saying this is the case as I don’t know if it is) but AirPods have built-in features to support hearing needs and can be used as hearing aids. So yes it may look bad, but we don’t know the situation at hand, something to be mindful of when people do wear AirPods in situations where we wouldn’t otherwise expect them too i.e social events, driving lessons etc.
About a year ago I finished my test. Did my mandatory 50 hours and never wore headphones during my training. Needless to say I passed with flying colors. Keep calm, take your time, and drive an automatic 🤣
16:33 i was so annoyed when she was putting on the right turn signal but moving the steering while turning left and kept on canceling yet she persisted 😭
Probably shouldn't have got her to do a U Turn at that mini roundabout. You're not meant to go back on yourself on a mini roundabout, and I reckon that only added to her stress, to be fair.
@@SE43 Obviously limited to what the dashcam is showing us, but it definitely did not look like you could comfortably swing that car back on itself round that mini roundabout. Certainly not for a learner.
@@Bedfordshireman Isn't she doing a driving test? If you can't turn around on that mini roundabout you really don't deserve a license. Can't speak for other countries but here in Belgium the examinator would've failed her at the moment her car started to shake.
@@stormyboy129 "She's on a driving test". Yeah...that was my point. The Highway Code says you shouldn't go back on yourself on a mini roundabout... therefore it's kind of irrelevant if she - a learner - can do it or not. Shouldn't have done it in test conditions. That's also an incredibly stupid thing to say. A learner can't perform a manoeuvre heavily discouraged by the DVSA therefore she doesn't deserve a licence? Get out mate, bloody hell.
People are overreacting re the Airpods as she could clearly hear. I'm much more surprised at Pin for asking her to do a U-turn on that mini-roundabout... quite apart from it being frowned upon in the Highway Code, it's not fair asking a learner to make such a tight turn unexpectedly without any guidance, *and* then giving her a serious for it. Not like you at all, Pin!
Nobody is overreacting. If this was a real test, she'd fail as soon as the car is turned on. Even if they're off, you're still losing some hearing because they block your ears. You can also lose focus on audio cues on the road as well.
I have to say though, I wasn’t taught u turns. My first mini roundabout u turn went similar to this (though I handled it alone). I can understand her screwing it up with how little confidence she has in her driving.
i do think she was going a little quick into that roundabout she shouldve been in first gear not second theres nothing worn with going a little bit slower then completely having to stop/reverse and redo the roundabout like in the video

@@hanspz5505 Of course she would. Then, she'd claim they were off when told she fail because of them. It doesn't matter. You're not supposed to wear anything that could compromise your hearing when you drive. That awards a fine/ticket in many places and it's downright illegal in others.

I’d be nervous to take a driving test in whatever country that is too. The roads are a little funky compared to America’s roads. & learning to drive a manual would be such a hassle, I can hardly drive stick now.
Who is telling these people they are at the stage of a mock test? This is crazy telling inexperienced drivers do a mock test see how you get on. Its obvious they arent ready so this is just instructors wanting a high fail rate or what? People that are ready for mock tests should be observed to make barely any mistakes. Bad teaching.
Why would you ask a learner driver to perform a U-turn on a mini-roundabout (a dangerous manoeuvre that the highway code recommends to avoid making)? Although it is not illegal, I don't think it is good judgement for you to be directing learners to complete this manoeuvre. It would have been safer to ask her to do a three-point-turn or a U-turn in a safer side road.
i mean everyone will have to do it a somepoint or she shouldve payed more attention and not have her airpods in whilst on a mock test either way kinda disrespectful by not paying full attention. it falls into being her problem for taking the wrong exit in which she had to do that manouver and failed to complete it
@@mint_au I feel as though you lack reading comprehension skills. It's brutal learning to drive with a manual transmission. I had an automatic to learn with. When I did switch to a manual transmission (after years of driving auto) I destroyed the master cylinder and had to have it replaced. It didn't happen overnight, but dropping the clutch over and over again destroyed the master cylinder, and one day it wouldn't shift at all. I miss that truck. I fixed it and took great care of it after my learning phase.

She look obviously nervous af. We all feel this at first . Especially I've never drive a manual car. But i don't even know how could pull of in test. Like I was drive manual everyday but actually never. The key is confidence and believe yourself. Nervous is normal but don't too think about it. She look hella scared and too nervous. Actually everything we do need confidence. This road look easy tho. Mine was up hill, highway, traffic jam and had to hold control oil and manual pedal at the same then press handbrake down while up hill is the hardest. But somehow I could manage to do so. Like i said. Believe yourself
You can but you would have to clutch all the way down before changing to 1st gear and you may have to slow down a bit depending on how fast you’re going because your car may be thrusted forward a bit if you’re going too fast for 1st gear

My test person was really nice. I was undiagnosed autistic at the time and extremely nervous around people. But I still managed to pass on my first try :)
Driving examiners' personalities make all the difference for me - the examiner I had for my first test didn't really care I was nervous, but the guy I had the second time was really nice which helped my confidence immensely, and I passed with only five minors.
It’s not all about the learners’ fresher , beginners or senior , / experienced drivers… headphones, AirPods ain’t recommended… so if you think that for you senior driver and you allowed or it’s okay to put on headphones’ earphones, AirPods then you wrong..
I live in America and I sadly failed my maneuverability but I passed my driving (Barely I got 24/26). I’m now watching these videos knowing I never have to deal with this stress again 💀
I have watched many of Pin's videos and many learners say to Pin they have been told by their instructors that they're ready for their test. If these learners are being told by their instructors they're ready for their tests, then Pin gives them a mock driving test and they drive like this, then DVSA should be asking the learner's instructors why they think they're ready for their test. You have the patience of a saint Pin. Just wondering what your alloys look like.
When I was learning to drive my dad took me to multi storey car parks to practice hill starts on the up slopes. My driving instructor taught me a great way to parallel park, which has helped me get the positioning right every time I practice parallel parking.
I have no idea why it's still taught to learners to use the push-pull technique in all circumstances. I would never do that to do a U-turn at mini roundabout, hand over hand all day long. Sure, an examiner might have given her a minor but it's worth taking over a serious fault and failing for hitting the kerb. Just my opinion. 🤷♂️
@@murrmusic7793 It would allow the driver to get full right lock a lot quicker, therefore not hitting the kerb or holding anyone else up. Given her speed on approach and random left hand signal mid-turn, she probably wouldn't have made it round anyway though.
It's pull-push not push-pull which is important, and if done properly can be very efficient as you can quickly make full turns without noticeable pause either at the top or bottom of the steering wheel. Yes, hand over hand can be faster if done really quick, however if you don't have excellent dexterity there's risk of slipping wheel out of hands while you crossing them and losing control of the car.
all of these people that dont do that great will be exceptional drivers later on in life because they actually care about how they are doing and actively sought out help from other sources. A lot of my instincts to check certain spots developed really late but after two years of driving I feel like I really have it down now and with experience these people will also thrive and get better. Its really hard to do this especially in a manual transmission car.

🙂 To every cloud there is a silver lining …💫
Thank you Pin Paji for sharing your knowledge with us all & to those who are all on their learning journey, don’t give up & remember why you started in the first place, you will succeed….💚 🧙♂️💚

I’ve passed my test recently. After passing there’s still so much to learn, and these vids are extremely helpful and really cool.
How long did you learn?
@@mishalw210 bought my car in jan and passed in may this year, only 6 hours lessons you just have to tell yourself your gonna pass
@@mishalw210 depends. Some people need 40 hours and some just 5 or 6. I did 15-18 hours of lessons.

Just passed last week too mate. Congrats and stay safe bro
We already gave away our freedome living in a man made society because many cant live without sense of safety. Driving a machine wont fix this.

She turn the stearing wheel in a horrible way. I'm not suprised that she couldn't turn all the way in that mini roundabout
@@Pythonaria I always thought 10 to 2 was designed to slow learners down! But when I took my test, you'd fail for crossing hands.

They confuse the fuck out of me and even tho that would have been an easy u turn I would have fucked it up as soon as the word roundabout came up 😂
Was thinking was pretty tough, coupled with test nerves it doesn't make it easy at all

That's no excuse, if she had bad hearing she'd be wearing a proper hearing aid.

Not like you at all, Pin!
The AirPods are very disrespectful
Nobody is overreacting. If this was a real test, she'd fail as soon as the car is turned on. Even if they're off, you're still losing some hearing because they block your ears. You can also lose focus on audio cues on the road as well.

Sometimes driving is not about skill but attitude. The headphones tell it all.
By the looks of it i'd say 2-3 at the most. She's totally lacking awareness and not even close to attempting the licence test.
0 and a youtube video
@@stevesgaming7475 I'd say most people are still at that stage after 10 lessons
“I just wanted a second opinion because my instructor told me I wasn’t ready and I was shit but I think I know better so here I am about to embarrass myself.”
My test is in 2 days and I'm so nervous. Its mainly parking that I still struggle with but I know as long as I don't hit the curb I'll be fine, even if I have to re adjust. I'm just going to take my time and not rush anything. Wish me luck and good luck to everyone who also has their test soon. I know I'm going to be so proud of myself if I pass first time.
Good luck
did you passs??
17:07 shes bringing the clutch up whilst her foot is on the brake pedal, then pressing it down again and up again whilst still using the brake. Shes bound to stall doing that especially on an uphill junction.
It’s not all about the learners’ fresher , beginners or senior , / experienced drivers… headphones, AirPods ain’t recommended… so if you think that for you senior driver and you allowed or it’s okay to put on headphones’ earphones, AirPods then you wrong..
anyone else watching this after passing their road test recently?
After recently passing my theory! Practical soon and I’m ready 😁
yeh I passed on tueday no minors
@@harryblair7311 good stuff mate
As an American I’m convinced I could NEVER drive in Europe
I live in America and I sadly failed my maneuverability but I passed my driving (Barely I got 24/26). I’m now watching these videos knowing I never have to deal with this stress again 💀
We are not supposed to do U-turns at mini-roundabouts, are we?? There's always an increased risk of causing a collsion if you do that.
What is the benefit of hand over handing that situation? (serious question)
@@murrmusic7793 It would allow the driver to get full right lock a lot quicker, therefore not hitting the kerb or holding anyone else up. Given her speed on approach and random left hand signal mid-turn, she probably wouldn't have made it round anyway though.
@@Marronchells So what are the advantages of push and pull and why is it recommended in general?
@@murrmusic7793 Probably to ensure two hands on the wheel at all times, but this is neither practical nor safe when you have to steer quickly
That’s stressful. Good job with the patience
She really needs to work on steering and clutch control. Among other things...
Another fault I noticed is the way she turns the steering wheel on sharp turns. She turns the wheel like she is climbing a rope
Got my test tomorrow. This video gives me confidence
I passed first time 0 minors lol

all of these people that dont do that great will be exceptional drivers later on in life because they actually care about how they are doing and actively sought out help from other sources. A lot of my instincts to check certain spots developed really late but after two years of driving I feel like I really have it down now and with experience these people will also thrive and get better. Its really hard to do this especially in a manual transmission car.
Passed first time today with 4 minors! Thanks so much for the videos they where really helpful
She should not be allowed to take a mock test, at all.
She should of took her AirPod out so she could hear him properly
Personally I think that all the facial expressions you made and the fact that you intervened to help her made her more uncomfortable/panic then it was a snowball effect….
