Venezuelan * there is no Socialism in Venezuela, there is an upper class that always been there and a new upper class -coincidentally all relatives of the ruling governing party- that control all the resources so what this “revolution” did was to screw the poor yet again while catching up with the ruling class from before (most of whom have left and didn’t suffer at all). That is to a degree true. I have watched hours of footage from this channel and learned about people and countries that I will probably never visit. The issue with mainstream media is that you often have someone controlling what is aired, whether that be through the influence of an editor who may want to put their own spin on what is shown, or in more sinister cases because the paymaster/owner of the channel may have their own agenda or there may even be state control. What we see here is what Nick wants to show us and I am pleased to say that his only bias is to show the real people who live in the countries he visits and how local or global events impact on their lives.

@@lavanniek You might be trolling, and that's fine, but I want to leave this comment for others who might read it and learn some things on this topic.
Most evidence has shown that immigration will actually benefit our economy.
Did you also know that birth rates are declining in the US, and by 2069 our workforce will be filled with old people? By 2100 our population is going to have declined. Immigration is one of the best ways to counteract that.
Also, on socialism, I find the idea of 'socialism' in the US to be funny.
Social programs aren't socialism. A social program is the government providing's things to their population because they believe it should be something every citizen deserves.
Social programs, like access to water, plumbing, etc.
At one point, the leaders of the government said; "Hey, our people should have this thing", until it became a standard for their nation, and eventually became a standard for life.
The Roman empire was able to provide public baths and complex infrastructure to their citizens, meanwhile most of their neighbors were barbarians in comparison.
That was a social program, now its the norm of life.
At some point, someone said; "Hey, maybe we shouldn't let homeless children die on streets", "Maybe we should create a program to ensure kids are looked after", "maybe we should come up with a program that will ensure old people can retire".
Then, it became a standard of our life.
If you don't support social programs, aka what has been deemed as 'socialism' when its not, then you don't support the social programs we have in place currently. You can't magically draw the line and say; "These social programs make sense, but these don't".
No, if you don't like social programs, that's fine, but keep it real my guy.
You want to live like it was in the Roman era where you had to pay or somebody wouldn't put out your house fire. SOCIAL PROGRAM.
What's happening is that the standards we live in are improving, and now we are further moving the agenda and debating what our citizens deserve.
Backthen it was; "Should we let children starve on the street", and now its; "Should we let people go 200K in debt because of a heart problem", or, "Remember how we kind of suppressed blacks for 200+ years, then decided to pump crack into their communities to fund a war? How about we try to fix that?"
Social programs do not mean a socialized government, they're two different things, there is no evidence to support that socializing a country is 'bad'. In fact, socializing a country is a sign of prosperity. Its what empires do. I never heard of an empire NOT providing their people a better life. We can yell; "US #1", but for being #1, we certainly have nothing but military to show for it.
You got people in Dubai building fake islands and giving their workers free Porsches (Free healthcare btw) and the US doesn't even have decent roads.
You got other EU countries with extremely low crime rates, decriminalized drugs and 0 harsh prison sentences that are 'socialized' yet our country is still full of gangs that people like you yell to deport.
If we are truly an empire, we should be finding ways to give American's things that other first world countries don't have. Alleviating the stresses of life.
      Other countries should envy us.
That's what empires do, and something people like you fight against. Its dumb.

We have a group of 200 Venezuelan immigrants living on our streets in Denver right now. I'm doing what I can to do my part for them but even though they're homeless, on the streets with minimal supplies they said they're happy because it's still more than they had in Venezuela. I came here to better understand what they left behind.

There were kids o the board as well, everybody drowned that was really heartbreaking, heard a father held his daughter in his arms while they died together 😥

The utter stupidity (like two of the comments above 👆🏻) people have in regards to Venezuela is astounding. The vast majority of the countries economic issues are directly the result of heavy US sanctions put into place in the early 2000s, not because of “socialism” or “communism.” Right-wing morons who don’t even know the definition of either system just puppet what they heard on fox news. In reality Chavez was Authoritarian, not socialist or communist.
