Thank you Carole! However, note that there is a new multi-pin feature that makes this video partially obsolete, you can check it out here: th-cam.com/video/RZIn9AxSRrU/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for another great tutorial! Due to a recent Zoom update, you can now spotlight multiple presenters, and accomplish side-by-side views for all participants that way as well.
FINALLY!!!!!! I can't tell you how long I have struggled with this. THANK YOU!.... BUUUUUUUUUT--unfortunately it didn't work for me. I used the second workaround. Maybe I missed a step. During the meeting I saw side-by-side view as the host, but the recording was still the one speaker view.
Hi - this is one of my older videos, I have many other Zoom tutorials on my channel that might help you out more (although they are all admittedly a couple years old now and may be out of date).
thank u sooo much! i was trying to do the side by side and finally did it! but do you know how I can record the screen like that? side by side? I cant record it like that..
Very informative, but I still have a question: As a guest speaker (with non-host or co-host status), my goal is to ensure my shared screen is equal in size to my image on all meeting attendee's screens, i.e., I'm trying to avoid, as the presenter, being confined to a small box off to the side of a meeting attendee's screen. What must the host of the meeting do to arrange for that view to occur for all on the call? What must I do other than share my screen to support that outcome?
Hi - this video is a little outdated - the best thing to do is have the host spotlight you. In general individual meeting participants retain a lot of control over their own view, including the ability to pin others (who aren't necessarily the speaker), and to swap whether the shared screen or the speaker's camera view is larger. But if the host spotlights you it will at least remove their ability to pin somebody else. A more dramatic option is "focus mode" which would prevent participants from seeing each other at all - I have a newer video about that if you check my channel.
@@BenFinio I really appreciate your timely reply. You have a nice way of explaining this information. I'll search for your channel to learn about the focus mode. Again, appreciate your response. I have used Zoom for quite some time including teaching grad students. However, there seems to be a significant amount of Zoom capability out there that I need to study. Thanks again for your help.

Hi Paul - no, side by side mode is only available when someone else is sharing their screen. If you want to see everyone while screen sharing then you want dual monitor mode (requires a second monitor): th-cam.com/video/qvoXMStoNcw/w-d-xo.html

Great video! Is there a way to control how your WEBINAR participants view a screen with shared content? I.e., can I as host Hide Non-Video Participants for my attendees, or is it just for myself/how I'm viewing? I am hosing a webinar where we have Panelists who will be presenting content, and a group of Reviewers who will be asking questions, but when the Panelists are sharing and presenting, we don't want the non-video (names only) boxes to be cluttering up the view for our attendees. We just want to see the video participants and the shared content. Thanks in advance!
Thank you for your video! I am hoping to produce a Zoom recording for a Podcast that has me on one side and a Before Picture on the other side that can be changed to an After Picture - I am hoping that I'll be able to do that with what you described - Thank you !
Hello, great info, but what I really would like is if there is any way to do split screen if you are the Host/Presenter? For example, to share the screen to show a PPT, but still see the participants?
Hi Shelly - the best way to do that is with two monitors: th-cam.com/video/qvoXMStoNcw/w-d-xo.html. You can't do side-by-side view if you're the one sharing your screen.
Excellent! This is going to be useful for streaming a two-person event via OBS. I will be the host and will capture each of the speakers in the Zoom window through OBS window capture. I wasn't sure how to get the largest video of each of them, but this is perfect (assuming I can hide myself as Host with this trick - I haven't tried this yet). Thanks!
Nicely explained Ben... If I were recording a video to use as a tutorial, and wanted my "thumbnail" to be larger, while using perhaps 2/3rds of the left side for a shared screen video... is there a way to do that?
Hi - unfortunately no, you can't really control the relative size of the thumbnail and shared screen portions when recording. If you haven't seen them, I do have videos about what gets recorded with single and dual monitors in Zoom: th-cam.com/video/KhjZZSSHfOg/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/MjEDbJwHeFM/w-d-xo.html. The super roundabout way to make a custom video with the sizes you want would be to use cloud recording (requires a pro account) to record the shared screen and video views to separate video files, then use a third-party video editing program to combine them in the size you want. However, if you are just recording a video to use as a tutorial and not hosting a live meeting to begin with - do you need to use Zoom? There are various other screen recording + video editing options out there that may get you want you want. OBS Studio is a popular free screen recorder (lots of tutorials for it on TH-cam) but it is not a video editor. Camtasia is a screen recorder + video editor that lets you drag and resize the recorded screen + webcam views to whatever you want, but it's not free. I have a tutorial about it here: th-cam.com/video/83hn6tlZRIA/w-d-xo.html
Ben, I'm hunting for way to replace how I've been recording side-by-side videos of me (teacher) and just one private student via Ecamm Call Recorder (Mac). Can Zoom achieve that? Call Recorder works much better than Skype, both sides can be full screen; Skype radically trims off the left and right sides of each video feed. We're both playing pedal steel guitars (similar to pianos in form), so that trimming is not ideal. Thanks!
Hi - it's been a while since I made all of these Zoom videos, but this is one of the earlier ones before they introduced some layout changes. I would search my channel for "recorded" and you will get several videos about what gets recorded in Zoom, that should show if you can do what you want.
Hi, I want to make a series of recordings/ videos with PowerPoint involved. I want a split screen with the slide on the left and myself on the right. I need the ability to go through a series of slides during recording; and an ability to run a cursor to diminish/ minimise slide size to various degrees at will would also be necessary (with self occupying more screen proportionately). Of course, both sides of the slide would need to feature on the video (I am new to Zoom and do not know whether it records like screenshots or picks out parts of the screen).I would be most grateful for your answer.
Hi Mike - my What Gets Recorded in Zoom video should help you out: th-cam.com/video/KhjZZSSHfOg/w-d-xo.html. However note that you can't actually record in a 50/50 side by side split, it will record the shared screen large with you in a thumbnail in the corner. The exception is if you have a Pro account and do cloud recording, then there is an option to record speaker and shared screen views to separate video files, which you could then combine any way you want in a third party video editor.
Thank you so much for the tutorial. This is excellent. Is there a way to add your presentation when you have two people on the screen? Also, can you switch out the participants with someone else?
Hi Alondio - not sure what you mean by "add your presentation" - you mean you want to share your screen? If so, that won't work with the "side by side" mode I've described here if YOU are the one sharing your screen. But if one of the other participants is sharing their screen, then yes you can do it on your screen. To switch out participants you would have to un-hide someone's video and then hide the person you no longer want to see. FYI I have a video on screen sharing here: th-cam.com/video/MItltFz2Kl4/w-d-xo.html
Thank you for great explanation about zoom. However I don´t have an option view button. I cant see my students while sharing the screen. What should I do to be able to see them? Thanks in advance for advice.
Hi Anna - sorry for the delay, we just had a baby and I have not been online much, so I am catching up on replying to comments. I have two other videos that might help you if you have not seen them yet, one about sharing your screen and one about using two monitors, which makes it easier to see your students: th-cam.com/video/MItltFz2Kl4/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/qvoXMStoNcw/w-d-xo.html
Hi Ben Great video! May I ask how will the recording look like if i record the video with the side by side view? Will it record just like the way I'm controlling the screen? Or will it only show the speaker?
Hi - it should record gallery view if you're doing a local recording. If you're doing a cloud recording, depending on your institution's settings there may be options to record gallery and speaker view to separate video files. I have another video about what gets recorded in Zoom here: th-cam.com/video/KhjZZSSHfOg/w-d-xo.html
Nice bro, ex.. I am going to conduct one event with 50 participants, on half the screen event will display, and remaining place I wanna show my participants one by one or two participants according to my convenience... So what the procedure to all these? how adjust Half screen for event and how to select and show my participants on screen? Can u explain me pls?
Many times I am the host sharing my screen. Is there a way the host can use side by side mode? Since usually I want my google slide presentation showing but not so large I still want my participants to be the majority of the screen. Thanks
Hi Jessica - you can do this if you have two monitors. Go into your Zoom settings -> General and check the "Use dual monitors" checkbox (you must do this before the meeting starts). Then you can share the content of one monitor and have Gallery view open on the other monitor. If you only have one monitor, then you can resize the window you want to share so it doesn't take up your whole screen (e.g. your web browser when doing Google slides). When you share your screen, make sure you ONLY select that program, not "Screen 1" which will show everything on the entire monitor. That will give you some room on the rest of your screen for Zoom - but I believe it will just show a tiny floating box with a few thumbnails in it, it will not display the complete gallery view if you have a lot of participants.
Ben this video is great! Could you do a video tutorial on how to actually turn the setting on? I have some students who need to sign interpreters, but the students have trouble seeing everything at once. Or Could you send me how you captured zoom every time I try zoom blocks the screens out?
Hi Ashley - two things: 1. Can you clarify what setting you want to turn on, or what isn't clear from this video? 2. I record these tutorials using Camtasia, which is screen recording software. I have a tutorial on that here: th-cam.com/video/83hn6tlZRIA/w-d-xo.html. I have a separate tutorial about recording within Zoom here: th-cam.com/video/KhjZZSSHfOg/w-d-xo.html
@@BenFinio Hi Ben! Thanks for the info! I think what Ashley is asking is the same questions I have. I go to the settings and check the box that says side by side, but I still do not have that option. When I log in to webinars for my district, I see the presenter AND their screen side by side automatically (I do not click on the viewing at the top), but when my students see me, they just see the screen and me blocking parts of the screen with my video. How can I change it so that every time I present, they see me side by side the way I see the webinars?
@@andreaherrera6177 all of my tutorials are for Zoom *Meetings*. Webinars have a slightly different interface and unfortunately I'm not familiar with them. In meetings (assuming that's what you're using with your students), I don't think you can "force" your students into side by side view or set that as the default for them. Every participant retains individual control over their view.
@@BenFinio Thanks for the fast reply! I am here with 3 different computers open trying this out. I guess it is a webinar thing vs a regular meeting, but I will try to teach my students how to do it. Thanks again!
Hi JoAnne - I don't remember off the top of my head, but I have a separate video about what gets recorded in Zoom: th-cam.com/video/KhjZZSSHfOg/w-d-xo.html. I *believe* it will record what you see in Gallery view in this case, but the best thing to do is test it (log in on multiple computers or have friends/family join a test meeting).
I am planning a zoom wedding for a friend and one of our friends in California will be officiating the wedding. Is it possible to be in control of the spotlight & move from spotlighting the officiant and spotlighting the couple?
Hi Judith - yes, if you're the host then you should be able to do this. I believe co-hosts can control the spotlight as well but I would double check first.
Is there a way to simply move thumbnails of all the meeting attendees (whether in gallery mode or regular) so they’re on the left side of the screen vs the right? I didn’t see that option in settings. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Can I do this by hiding my own video as the host, to watch/ record two other participants? I’m looking at running my drama classes on zoom, and want to record two people as if they are having a video call with each other. I need to be there to direct them, but don’t want to be seen on the recording. Hope that makes sense!
Hi - yes, I believe you can do this by hiding your own video. However, I'd definitely recommend doing a test recording first. You can do this by logging in on multiple computers (that's how I make these videos), or if you don't have enough, ask some family/friends to join.
@@aquamarine5583 Yes. You have to stop videos for all non participants including your own, then click the drop down to hide all non participants. It will hide you too. To come back you just start your video again. It’s a little fiddly at first but works really well, I was able to have 2 people on screen, and direct them without being on screen.
Hi! Thanks a lot fot the video. I work with people with disability and we need that mode to have the speaker and the Sign language interpreter, but when we go to live on youtube, the screen changes completly, how can i get the live with the side by side, format?.. Thanks a lot!
Hi Viridiana - I don't totally understand what you mean. Are you in a Zoom meeting, that you're also streaming live on TH-cam? If so, unfortunately I don't have any experience with TH-cam live streaming, so I can't provide any help there. Although I'm not sure why you'd do that instead of just having people join the Zoom meeting?
@@nussyta Ok - can you elaborate on what you mean by "the screen changes completely" when you go live on TH-cam? Are the Zoom windows changing on your computer when you start the TH-cam stream? Are people watching on TH-cam not seeing what you think they should? etc.
@@BenFinio Of course. On Zoom, the screen has the side by side mode, meanwhile on TH-cam the screen is (I think it's called) fit to window. So, we have different screens on zoom and on youtube at the same moment.
@@nussyta Ok. My best guess is that's an issue with the TH-cam live stream settings as opposed to Zoom, but unfortunately I don't know anything about those settings. You'd probably want to find a way to show exactly what's on your entire monitor, similar to what people doing gaming streams might do, as opposed to just showing the view from the webcam of the person doing the stream (which wouldn't show your Zoom window with the other participants) or just a region of the screen.
This is a question I submitted to zoom. Perhaps you can answere it.. I’m still searching for a way to have students’ windows in gallery view appear larger while screen sharing. Side by side mode allows participants to adjust the shared content area, thus increasing the size of the students’ videos or the shared content as needed. If I assign a participant the task of sharing the content (which I will supply to him). When he adjusts the size of the two areas, will other participants be able to adjust these two areas on their screens? Some using smartphones may need the text in shared content to be larger and when discussing the study material, the speaker (in gallery view) will have a larger window. Will this work? Or alternatively, can I be given control of the participants screen who is sharing and make these adjustments myself as host?
Each participant can adjust their own side by side view scaling independently. But per my reply to your other comment, if you want to see everyone bigger in gallery view you might want to consider getting a second monitor. I have a video covering dual monitor mode.
@@BenFinio Thanks. That takes the control away from me, which is cool if the students follow directions. Also, I have three monitors connected but what I am searching for is a method that will make the speaker larger than the other windows in gallery view. Ideally, two small windows on on side. Teacher in one and the student being called on to speak in the other. On the other side a screen share of the material being studied. Ideal for language class. Other students can see the student speaking in a reasonably sized window and they will not be visible until the screen share study material is removed. Streamgeeks had a video that I liked using two computers but alas it seems that the layout did not apply to the zoom class view. So, still seeking...
@@johnjackson8035 It's hard for you to control exactly what the students will see since they will all be viewing on different devices and they have control of whether they're in speaker vs gallery and side by side view. You do have the option to multi-spotlight as host which may get you some of what you want. I have a bunch of other videos on my channel covering various features and setups if you haven't seen those, they may help.
I'm searching for a way to use side by side as the host. I realize this is not possible as that function is only available for participants. The reason for wanting this is that I do not wish to use full screen mode and when sharing lesson material via screenshare, the participants windows along the top are too small. I don't have enough participants to test this but according to a screen shot from zoom, it appears to be a better option than the windows along the top. Also, being allowed to adjust the shared screen is a plus as students using smartphones can increase the shared content when needed. Would it be possible to assign a participant to share the study guides and then adjust them as needed? How will this appear on the host's end? I will have a large screen and so the size will be no problem. But for the students, it might allow their windows to be made larger and then the shared screen to be larger, according to need. Any ideas on this?
I'm co-hosting a workshop on zoom and we want to be able to have our google slides showing with our two videos. We'd like to make it so that the slides don't take up the majority of space (ie. our videos look tiny). Is there an option to do a side by side with slides and two hosts?
Hi Lana - I made this video before Zoom released the multi-pin and multi-spotlight features, which I have a video about here: th-cam.com/video/RZIn9AxSRrU/w-d-xo.html. You would want to spotlight both of the speakers, but you cannot control whether the individual participants are in side by side mode or not. Each participant retains control over their own view and can choose whether to be in side by side mode.
Hi Tor - all my tutorials are for the desktop client, I am not familiar with the browser version. However note that part of this video has been made obsolete by the new multi-pin and multi-spotlight feature: th-cam.com/video/RZIn9AxSRrU/w-d-xo.html
@@kjelstrupt Unfortunately other than Googling it and either looking for tutorials on Zoom's website or other TH-cam videos, I'm not sure. Another option is to log in to a meeting on multiple devices (that's how I make these tutorials) or get some friends/family to join and just test it out. That could be faster.
I use Camtasia and have a tutorial about it here: th-cam.com/video/83hn6tlZRIA/w-d-xo.html. I like Camtasia a lot because it is also a video editor, so it's al all-in-one package, but it's expensive. OBS Studio seems to be the go-to free screen recorder, but it's not a video editor, so then you need a separate editing program.
If I am set up as a co-host and the Host is sharing their screen, can I do side by side on my laptop so that I can see a little of what is shared but still see a large number of people who are signing in. Several of us are trying to rename participants who dial in so that we know who they are, but if the host shares her screen then we can only see 4 people and we are trying to do a large group of 60 or 70 people. So those of us who are co hosts don't need to see the shared powerpoint as much as we need to see people as they check in.
Hi Joan - yes - see the video around 0:45 - there is a slider that you can drag left and right to resize the slides. In your case you would just want to drag it all the way to the left, to minimize the slides and make the gallery view as big as possible. There is also an option in Zoom settings to "show up to 49 people in gallery view" which will show more people on the screen at once. Although with that many participants, it might just be easier to ask people to rename themselves? (I realize that may not be feasible with younger students)
Hi - note that this video has been made obsolete by the new multi-pin feature: th-cam.com/video/RZIn9AxSRrU/w-d-xo.html. I am not sure if you can multi-pin on iOS, most of my tutorials are for Windows, but if you google "Zoom multi pin iOS" you should find their official help page about it.
Hi - you can only be in side by side mode when someone ELSE is sharing their screen, but even then (for example, if you had a co-host record) I believe Zoom will record the shared content large and the camera via in a small thumbnail. The exception would be if you are doing cloud recording and you have the option selected to record separate video files for speaker, gallery, and shared screen views. Then you would need to use third-party video editing software to combine them into a side-by-side view.
If I’m only on a laptop and I want my students (3-4 graders) to see my PowerPoint and me, as the speaker, side by side, can I set that for all of them? I don’t envision them being able to manage a side by side on their device.
Hi Nancy - no, you can't force students into side-by-side mode, but good news! Zoom just launched a "Powerpoint as virtual background" feature. If you use that and spotlight yourself, it *should* give your students the view they need without any additional effort required on their part. I cover it in this video: th-cam.com/video/g0z2i_Na3Uo/w-d-xo.html

Hi Karen - if it's literally just you and one other person in the meeting, you should be able to just use regular gallery view, you do not need to do anything special.
If you are teaching you are better off with two monitors, I have another video on my channel about that. You can't get side by side mode while screen sharing on a single screen.
Hi - remember that side by side mode will only be available when someone else is sharing their screen. The part about using it to get side by side mode of two people by hiding non video participants is obsolete because they now have a multi pin and multi spotlight feature, see this video: th-cam.com/video/RZIn9AxSRrU/w-d-xo.html
how we can change the black screen on the back of our camera video? it really complicated to explain what I mean for you without showing an example for what I mean. do you have an email that I can send a picture of the example for what I mean?
Hi Akhwat - I think I know what you're referring to, and you can't change that in Zoom. You can only change the background of your own individual video using the Virtual Background feature. You cannot get rid of the overall black background behind all the videos.
When I host a zoom session, and I start sharing my Keynote screen, I lose from the screen the videos of all participants including myself and have no speaker view, nor gallery view. When I stop screen sharing, both these views return to my screen. Why is this happening?
Hi Veronica - you can't do that because it would have to cut off the sides of each person's video. It's like trying to watch two widescreen TVs next to each other at once - to fill up the whole screen they'd both have to be narrower.
Too much information at one time. I just want to know how to split the screen and show photos on one side. Is there a video for uploading different photos to share that I need to explain to people?
If you just want to show the photos to people, all you need to do is share your screen and I have a video about that here: th-cam.com/video/MItltFz2Kl4/w-d-xo.html. If you want to upload the files such that other people can download them, then I believe Zoom has a built-in file sharing feature but I do not have a video about that.
I need to live stream and record a side-by-side view on TH-cam. All the participants are good, but no matter what changes I make, the TH-cam stream only shows the shared screen content, which is simply the Windows 10 clock app that I'm sharing to keep time. What am I doing wrong? Actually, I don't even care if the clock shows on the live stream, as it is only for participant use.

Short answer is that you can record in gallery view with Zoom but any special effects (like the animated background in the video you linked) would require separate editing software.
Hi Janis - this depends on where your webcam is. If you're using a laptop the webcam is usually centered just above the screen. If you're using a separate USB webcam, you can put it wherever you want. Either way you want to make sure you're looking directly into the webcam, and not the person on your screen - which can make it seem as if you're looking down or to the side.
Joe - the closest you can get to this is if you have two monitors and check the "Use dual monitors" option in your Zoom settings. That will let you share one screen and still have a Zoom window open (i.e. gallery view) on the other monitor, so you can still see everyone. Otherwise, Zoom doesn't give a "side by side" option when you're sharing your own screen.
@@BenFinio What I did is I just have two accounts and I share my presentation on one account and speak from the other account with side by side view enabled.

Unfortunately not sure if that's possible. I have another video on rearranging gallery view but I don't think it lets you do just two people vertical, unless you are recording on a phone instead of a computer monitor. Although now that I think about it, you could try manually resizing the Zoom window on desktop to portrait orientation instead of maximizing it to landscape orientation.
Excellent! This is going to be useful for streaming a two-person event via OBS. I will be the host and will capture each of the speakers in the Zoom window through OBS window capture. Yep - I was a little late to the party, but I have a new video on that feature as well: th-cam.com/video/RZIn9AxSRrU/w-d-xo.html
I added this to my "Learn, Try, Share" playlist. Thanks so much, Ben!
Thank you, I was chatting online with Zoom for about 3 hours yesterday about this subject, and got nowhere! So I thank you enormously!
Glad it helped!
Thank you, thank you , thank you. The work-around "side-by side" is exactly what I needed for my class!

Love this feature. Is the moderator able to use this too while sharing so they can see all the people too?

Hi - unfortunately all my tutorials are for Meetings, I don't have any experience running Webinars and am not sure how the Webinar controls differ.
Thanks!
Hi Rob - there is a new multi-pin/multi-spotlight feature that makes this much easier: th-cam.com/video/RZIn9AxSRrU/w-d-xo.html

Thanks a lot.. This is helpful.

Can you also do the side by side with the Webinars portion of Zoom? (not just the "meetings.")
Hi Carol - unfortunately I'm not very familiar with the controls for webinars, so I'm not sure. All my tutorials are for Meetings.
Thanks!
Great video!
Hi Ashley - two things:
Great video and hack. If I record the side by side hack, will the recording look like what is seen on the screen?
Last I checked I don't think you can switch sides like that, the thumbnails always go on the right.

Although I'm not sure why you'd do that instead of just having people join the Zoom meeting?
@@BenFinio Thanks for your answer. We do streaming live in order to do webinars for free, because we can-t afford zoom for that purpose.

Hi Lana - I made this video before Zoom released the multi-pin and multi-spotlight features, which I have a video about here: th-cam.com/video/RZIn9AxSRrU/w-d-xo.html. what software do you use for screen recording?
I use Camtasia and have a tutorial about it here: th-cam.com/video/83hn6tlZRIA/w-d-xo.html. I like Camtasia a lot because it is also a video editor, so it's al all-in-one package, but it's expensive. OBS Studio seems to be the go-to free screen recorder, but it's not a video editor, so then you need a separate editing program.
How do you get side by side on iphone?
So the host can't activate side-by-side, only another participant can do it???
Does this apply to Ipad Zoom users too?
Hi - note that this video has been made obsolete by the new multi-pin feature: th-cam.com/video/RZIn9AxSRrU/w-d-xo.html. I am not sure if you can multi-pin on iOS, most of my tutorials are for Windows, but if you google "Zoom multi pin iOS" you should find their official help page about it.
Hi there, is it possible to record in side by side mode as a host? I want to my screen share and my video to be side by side in the video. Thanks!!

Hi - unfortunately if you just recorded a single video file, there is really no way to retroactively change the view. There is an option in cloud recording that records speaker, gallery, and shared screen views to separate video files in which case you could edit those after the fact, but if you didn't do that then it's too late.

Why does the host not get a side by side view?
You'd have to ask Zoom :-). This is one of my older videos, there are a lot more updated ones on my channel about the different view configurations.
Hi Jo - unfortunately, live streaming with Zoom is one of the few things I have NOT experimented with and don't have a video on. So I'm not sure how to control what shows up on TH-cam. Sorry I can't be of more help!
@@BenFinio Thank you for your response. Have you experimented with recording in side-by-side?
@@johaynes6699 I have a video on what gets recorded in Zoom here: th-cam.com/video/KhjZZSSHfOg/w-d-xo.html. Also note that the workaround I have for side by side mode with two people in this video is outdated, Zoom has since released a multi-pin/multi-spotlight feature and I have a video on that here: th-cam.com/video/RZIn9AxSRrU/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for the great video. I only have a question - is it possible to split screen, while changing the position of the window of each participant (for example to show a background behind it). Similarly to this video: th-cam.com/video/dSAexSwJQLE/w-d-xo.html ? Or does it require post editing? Trying to record a podcast on Zoom like the one in the link above, but can’t find an immediate solution! Thanks.
Hi - I have two relevant videos that should help you (the latter only applies if you are using dual monitors): th-cam.com/video/KhjZZSSHfOg/w-d-xo.html and th-cam.com/video/MjEDbJwHeFM/w-d-xo.html. Short answer is that you can record in gallery view with Zoom but any special effects (like the animated background in the video you linked) would require separate editing software.
How does Elmo share a video?

WHEN iIM DOING AN AUDITION ON ZOOM CAN YOU TELL ME HOW TO LOOK TOWARDS THE OTHER PERSON REFERRING TO THE EYELINE
That's so dumb, what if you want side by side mode while you are sharing YOUR SCREEN.
@@TheChannelJ1 Do you mean you log in twice on two different computers? If so, you don't actually need two accounts - Zoom will let you log in multiple times with the same account (that's how I make all these videos).
@@BenFinio Yes I am logged into my desktop and my iphone
@@BenFinio Can't see how to get side by side mode working on a Mac. Windows seems to default to it.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA OH MAN HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA ELMO IS THERE
Do you know how I can get it so that the two participants are stacked on top of each other vertically so I can make a vertical IG reels/TikTok type of video?
Unfortunately not sure if that's possible. I have another video on rearranging gallery view but I don't think it lets you do just two people vertical, unless you are recording on a phone instead of a computer monitor. Although now that I think about it, you could try manually resizing the Zoom window on desktop to portrait orientation instead of maximizing it to landscape orientation.
Excellent! This is going to be useful for streaming a two-person event via OBS. I will be the host and will capture each of the speakers in the Zoom window through OBS window capture. I wasn't sure how to get the largest video of each of them, but this is perfect (assuming I can hide myself as Host with this trick - I haven't tried this yet). Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
