With V30 being so much cheaper, that is pretty cool :) Nice job.
Thank you 😊
Great work Canon. R7 is the best cam of this year and so far.
It’s a good hybrid camera! 😊
The V30 card will probably fail for you with the Canon R7.
I mostly film in 4K PAL 50 fps with IPB(Light) on my R7 and uses the Sandisk Extreme PRO 128GB V30 card.
It works most of the time. But sometimes it fails, and the camera says that the write speed on the card is to slow.
You never know when it fails. Sometimes it can film for an hour without failing. Sometimes just 2 minutes before it fails.
It's very irritating when it happens, so I am ordering some V60 cards.
I have two cards, it is the same result with both.
Interesting! Glad you put it out here for others to know also. The safest is to go USH-II V60 or V90, and you also future proof if you ever get a newer camera, cause every new camera will use USH-II SD cards.
I did a video shoot job a few weeks ago with my brand new Canon R7. Knowing that media is what it comes down to and with zero room for failure, I brought along three, 128Gb UHS-II V90 cards and before I left, I grabbed a 64Gb UHS-II V60 card as a deep back up. I also brought along a 2TB San Disc SSD to transfer the cards to in case I needed more card space. I ended up using all 4 cards for that shoot. I didn't want to format them until I was absolutely sure all the files were backed up and transferred to the editor in Capetown, SA.
Using a UHS-I V30 card was never even a thought.
I use 32, 64 and 128Gb UHS-I V30 cards for my Sound Devices 664 mixer/recorder all the time with no issues, but .WAV files are SOOOOOOOOOO much smaller and less dense than the 4K Fine, 50FPS, Standard IPB files I was shooting for that job.
When it really matters and there are no "Do Overs," just don't mess around with the V30 cards.
Very useful and informative video, many thanks, as I own a lot of different speed SD cards i use in my R7, 7Dii, Sony A6600
Thank you so much, Roger! I appreciate the information.
Glad you liked it 😊
Really nice, Dude! Thanks a lot!
This has been so helpful @roger. Thanks a lot.
Glad you liked it 😊
Man, thank you, it really helped me a lot, i save hundreds of dollars in cards. Fun fanct is that according to canon statistics you can't use v30 cards for 4K 60 or 4k fine(30 fps) on R7. Again, thank's a lot!

Thank you 😊
Great video! Thank you so much!
Thank you 😊
Thank you very much! My local camera shop tried to sell me a V90 after I told then I shoot landscape stills and video my daughter's field hockey games. I don't care about burst speeds and your video convinced me that I don't need expensive top of the line cards. Reliability and capacity is more important to me.
Glad my video helped ☺️👏🏻
Thanks for the video!
😊
Thank you!
Thank you ☺️
Too good :) keep up the good work bro! ❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you 😊
Suck a relief I can use my other cameras 128gb sandisk extreme pro V30s. Awiting back order of a Sony S90 for still at 15fps mechanical. Going out today to pick up a cheap Sandisk v30 512gb for the 2nd cars slot video whilst traveling over the next month!
So does the card's speed affect the image quality in photography or just buffer? Sorry if you covered that and I missed it. Thanks for the video!
It doesn’t affect the image quality, just the time for the buffer to transfer the files 😊
@@RogerAVHansen thank you for the response!
Sir, I got my camera stopped when I turned on the HDR and 4K 60P Crop together!
SOOOOO helpful
Glad you got something out of it ☺️
you said you did 4k 50fps only, what about 4k 60fps? will the v30 will be enough for the canon r10 ?
Can you recommend a wide angle lens for r10 to shoot music video?
For music video you probably need a wide aperture lens, depends on how wide angle you need but the Sigma 18-35 f/1.8 is a great lens.. maybe Canon EF-S 17-55 f/2.8? You will need an adapter for both of these lenses though..
Hi Roger. Brilliant video. I just bought r10 camera and confused if I should go with v30 or v60 card. Purpose is wildlife photography and videos as well. Will v60 make sense or go with v30? I am getting Lexar Professional 1667x 64GB SDXC UHS-II/U3 Card. Is this good or some other brand? Thinking of buying two of these. Pls help me clear my confusion
Hi! You will make due with a V30 cards, but if you can afford it I would go with V60 cards. V30 cards is USH-I cards, V60 is UHS-II. V60 will be faster than V30, and if you shoot wildlife faster speeds will be a benefit 😊
@@RogerAVHansen thanks Roger. Went ahead with lexar card v60 😀
Thank you for this informative video. I have a new R10….I don’t use video..just photos. Will the V60 card be okay. Do I have to get 300mbs. Thanks. New at this!
@@teetee5687 It depends on what you’re going to photograph.. if it’s sports and fast moving subjects where you fill up the buffer quickly I would suggest getting the fastest card available. But if you’re doing landscapes and such V60 is more than enough 😊
If your using the camera for action, you will need a good SD card. I using my R10 for High Speed Trains.
Good tests...I got the V90 cards...just because...
I got the V60 in the R7. Use V90 in the Sony A7Siii..
Hi, i had borrowed canon m50 ii, now i bought r10 using same card. I have Kingston 128gb 170mb/s v 30 (the blue one) in m50 was all alright. Now on r10 the Red light at back is still blinking, so its mean that it is busy? Also i am not able use camera as webcam. M50 no problem r10 is not working and all display is blinking from Black background with symbol of plug in computer to what i see throw lens... Is this only thing of card? I thought that it is Fast card when i was purchasing it 😔
I think you need to upgrade your SD card… 🤔
I do landscape sports and birds. Do u think have I buy one v60 plus another v90? I only take photos, not video.
For sports and birds I would get the V90..
@@RogerAVHansen thks buddy. My R7 will be within 10 days home. So excited!
@@vicentezuri804 congrats 🎉 Hope it lives up to your expectations 😊
Sir can CF cards be uses with Canon R7 ?
Thank you in advance
No, only SD cards
But the Canon R7 will overheat faster if uses the V30 card right?
Don’t know about this one, haven’t had the camera overheat…
I am shooting 4:2:2 10bit, so I am using v90 card. I need it to use the cameras full potential.
Then the V90 is the way to go! ☺️
@@RogerAVHansen yupp. But in the zv1 I use v60 I think🙃
This was really interesting even though I don’t have those cameras. I’ve bought V90 cards just because…things. But I might have to do a test with the GH5 as well, to see if it’s really necessary! 😃👍
With the V90 cards you’re also future proofing the cards for future camera upgrades ☺️
@@RogerAVHansen yes that’s true 😊
The second tier might offer the best value
I use V60 in the R7 just in case ☺️
what about craw
C raw is smaller files than raw
Can we use uhs-1 for photos?
