I just binged violet evergarden a few days ago. I did like it, but it didn’t resonate with me as much as it seems it did with other people. Could you describe to me what you really liked about it, so I could hopefully get a better understanding of it to appreciate it more
Statikk Sheev there are few to none animes that take emotions as a part of our soul. Violet Evergarden is a pure, non cliche show like the others out there. It shows the real beauty of the 1900s, where we thought it was black and white, but it was really the majestic century of the world. Gigguk didnt dive in so much to Violet Evergarden because he is already influenced to non-emotion anime like shounen and other violent anime crap out there. AND MAAAN.. as a human being, we really need love, but in this 21st century, the social standards are ridiculously high like they’re treating us like robots. Love is misinterpreted by so many. Some by body, wealth, accomplishments, face and many more. And love is never about doubts, regrets, expectations, and greatness. It’s removing all of burden from your heart, and have full trust on the one you’re loving. But our love nowadays are influenced by our environment. I know you think I’m talking nonsense here, but that’s the point of influenced interpretation. From the past centuries, Love is so good. But now, look at us now, lookin like robots dressed in a human mannequin.
Supp8 it’s not fair, I’m watching this video and he puts Secret Base on, and every single time I hear that god damn song, I start to cry. I had no idea a simple piece of music could make a person cry so much
There are certain OSTs from Your Lie In April that just get me tearing up Actually no All of the songs make me cry cause all I can think of is the FREAKING ENDING
gigguk: posts a video about the best ost in anime also gigguk: doesnt mention hiroyuki sawano even once aot fans: we have failed... *plugs in headphones playing youseebiggirl while quietly sobbing*
I’m so glad he did that “but in the context of the rest of the show” part because it was so fucking true. Tokyo Ghoul is probably the anime that I’ve seen that has annoyed the living shit out of me the most, for so many different reasons, because I liked it, I wanted to see things happen because elements of it are interesting, AND THEN IT JUST SHITS ON ITSELF... Anyway, the scene of dumbass walking like a slow fucking emo kid normally would have been very appreciated, but in that context, it irritated the shit out of me...so yeah, IS SHE STILL RUNNING? Lmao
zachery429 So true. When I watched it I just shrugged and thought to myself, "ok. They're trying to tug on emo kids' heartstrings"... But then when a lot of edgy teenagers entered the fandom I got really irritated at the scene.
Ashley Yang yeah, the edgy teenagers certainly didn’t help my view of the show prior to watching it. -though, it didn’t hinder how I felt about the show either, the show irritates me all on its own merits. I still want to like it, and I do, but I also hate it and I can’t stand the main character, the show builds up an epic moment but all the motherfucker learned to do was pop his knuckles like an edgy boi, lmao
My reaction at 9:27 was a "what?" And i couln't agree more with calling the police. Just hope he hasn't skipped cruel angels theseis, if you do that, there is no salvation.
So glad you brought up Zankyou no Terror, the music is what made the show and is still one of my favorite soundtracks. Even after a few years I finally practiced walt on piano and get the vibes every time I play it 🎹🎶
I wasn't talking about the Star Wars spoilers because i don't care about it. I was talking about "kokoro", it's cringy. Could you please delete your comment so people who actually follow the show wouldn't get spoiled?
I watched it 3 years ago, I don't remember the plot at all and I remember that it was quite shitty but when the Guilty Crown OST started playing in the video it was such a soothing experience. The music really carry out the anime just like Gigguk said. They just placed the right musics at the right places and that did the whole thing
Gurren Laganns Libera me from Hell was a god damn masterpiece. Doing rap over piano and drums and then having the opera with the bass of the drums coming through the background was epic. When they fuse the two at the end it really gives the tingles.
Omg right! If you check out the no game no life opening it has a similar thing with the piano and fast paced drums being the siblings in anime. It kinda matches to how they are in the anime with Sora doing most of most of the heavy lifting (drums) and Shiro doing the complicated stuff (piano). At least, that's how I like to think about it.
The dongo song was just annoying... UNTIL the one thing that shall not be named happend and I cried for the rest of the season. Even now, almost 6 months later the few notes are enough to make me tear up instantly.
I adore the Zankyō no Terror OSTs too, but you forgot something... You forgot that these soundtracks fly me to the moon 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗲𝘁 𝗺𝗲 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘀.
It's about time that music in anime is being talked about in a grander scale in the anime community. It's super-important to the timbre of the atmosphere of the show you're watching, and if there's no music, it mostly gives you less stimulation to keep watching the show.
Dude, I loved Hiroyuki Sawano long before I even knew who he was. Attack on Titan is the first anime I watched and it's music is at least 40% of why I loved it so fucking much.
Hamzah Shafiq Yeah, AOT is a show that *definitely* gets it's soundtrack *spot frigging on.* Those soaring choruses just instantly bring to mind swooping around like a badass on 3DMG XD Even if you've never seen the show or the opening credits, you listen to those songs, and you're gonna be like 'oh shit, someone's about to throw *down* O_O'
And when to use silence as well. Like Gigguk mentions in the naruto part stopping the "I win" music is really powerful. In a film called "no country for old men" 2007, there is no music at all. And it's absolutely perfect for making the whole thing really tense. There's no stupid loud piano or guitar to give away a big threat coming on to the main character. How to use silence is just as important.

this is basically the reason why i will always love digimon adventure even though the show's budget was like non-existent i will forever love braveheart and butterfly. of course insert songs like seven and the endings are also super memoriable for me
That ‘instant nut’ segment was hysterical and completely true. My most memorable anime scenes are all that ‘instant nut’ moment. Really good video too definitely high quality!!
Let's also take a moment to appreciate the music *A Silent Voice's.* So minimalist, yet the amount of feeling it conveys. It empowers the the tone and the emotion of the movie. Absolutely beautiful.
Zankyou no terror is one of my favorite anime for so many reasons. The soundtrack is so amazing. It gives me chills. Is has my favorite lyrics... I'm gonna stop there. I could honestly write a trilogy on why I like zankyou no terror so much.
DammitSinged Nujabes is the one of the best things to have happened in this world. Thank you Samurai Champloo for introducing me to such an amazing artist and amazing genre of music.
Lavi_MarioStickMan12 ... I know right and not even just that, nujabes introduced me to shing02 and cyne, cise Starr ect artist who have been inspired or used nujabes music as beats
Hands down one of the most impactful osts for me is the Requiem of Silence in Re:Zero ep 15, it makes the already emotional scene exponentially better, giving me chills and tears.
I’m really surprised he didn’t bring this up, because that is probably my favorite moment in any anime and the music is a major part of it. Re:Zero could probably have its own video essay done about how it uses OPs and EDs for effect, and its insert songs too
Gigguk: For anyone who've seen AnoHana, what do you feel when you hear this track Me: It's gonna be fcking "Secret Base" Gigguk: *plays "Secret Base"* Me: FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK Me: *Grabs a tissue*
Through the whole video, i was wishing for zankyou no terror to be mentioned but as the video neared its end, i was crying inside on why is it so underrated?!? But then it came nd i was filled with such glee! Von is literally one of the most beautiful osts of all time nd it really has that "cold land" vibe😭💘
Things you definitely should have mentioned: The overwhelmingly awesome opening and score of Fullmetal Alchemist. Glassy Sky from Tokyo Ghoul The Ending of Guilty Crown. Your Lie In April? How did you skip that? And probably more. I enjoyed it despite that.
I always found Gigguk's videos to be entertaining, but it's videos like this one that really stand out to me. Amazing how someone who always professes their degeneracy can make such wholesome pieces of work.

I haven't watched Clannad in a very long time, but that dango song can still make me tear up, even though no one listening to this without having seen the anime would feel sad.
The dango song is manifested into my brain. Everytime I hear it I sing along and my eyes start to tear up even though I dont feel any sadness. I think I should see a doctor.
everytime i hear that song i get a very unsettling feeling in my chest...i dont really know if it is sadness or just an feeling that something very important is going to happen...clannad really marked me :/
Actually iv never watched clannad. i know its a sad anime and the song is suppose to be sad so when i first heard it, it made me feel sad. now whenever i hear it i get teary eyed for some reason. so maybe its just a sad sounding some? or i just subconsciously make myself sad because i know it should be sad XD
There is no better soundtrack for a certain anime then RADWIMPS for Kimi No Na Wa. I still tear up whenever I hear the songs. That time that the opening starts playing during the last episode always sends chills down my spine

Not to mention that the ost suits the anime so well. You'd never expect something like that in an anime about terrorism, but when you discover the true meaning behind the music that one of the main characters listens to, and when the storyline finally reveals the true intentions of the characters, it suddenly makes sense that the ost is used there...
Tyson Phonesavanh there are actually 2 songs he used at the end. The first one is called Von, while the second is Birden. They both feature the singer Arnor Dan. Though my favorite would have to be either Nc17 or Is ft. POP ETC.

AND MAAAN.. as a human being, we really need love, but in this 21st century, the social standards are ridiculously high like they’re treating us like robots.
Hell yeah bro. Violet is the best

all I could think of was “Secret base” from Anohana
No one will talk about Anohana. Everyone know they have cried listening songs of Anohana
To this day I truly can't listen to Secret Base... I start getting really emotional
Supp8 it’s not fair, I’m watching this video and he puts Secret Base on, and every single time I hear that god damn song, I start to cry. I had no idea a simple piece of music could make a person cry so much
Dont forget last train home as well

Lmao
zachery429
So true.

Watched the "Guilty Crown" just because of soundtrack.
Completely forgot about what this anime was, but that music is still with me up to this moment.
Same
anime left a "void" in me after i watched it
I watched it 3 years ago, I don't remember the plot at all and I remember that it was quite shitty but when the Guilty Crown OST started playing in the video it was such a soothing experience. The music really carry out the anime just like Gigguk said. They just placed the right musics at the right places and that did the whole thing
Oh god I myself just watched the whole anime because of the OP, but it really turned shit later
goes for openings. The anime can be dogshit but if the opening slaps, I'll never forget the feeling it gave.
5:43 "What do you feel when you hear this track?"

Gigguk: anohana
My brain: INTENSE EMOTIONS
lel
It's about time that music in anime is being talked about in a grander scale in the anime community. It's super-important to the timbre of the atmosphere of the show you're watching, and if there's no music, it mostly gives you less stimulation to keep watching the show.
Yeh everytime i reflect on the wide variety of music spread over anime my mind just gets blown everytime.
Well music and sound is part of the Trifecta in the end.
The mob psycho 100% theme is so cool

I haven't watched Clannad in a very long time, but that dango song can still make me tear up, even though no one listening to this without having seen the anime would feel sad.
The dango song is manifested into my brain. Everytime I hear it I sing along and my eyes start to tear up even though I dont feel any sadness. I think I should see a doctor.
everytime i hear that song i get a very unsettling feeling in my chest...i dont really know if it is sadness or just an feeling that something very important is going to happen...clannad really marked me :/

Zankyou no Terror is such an underrated show. I love the ost for it just simply because of how beautiful it sounds.
Not to mention that the ost suits the anime so well. You'd never expect something like that in an anime about terrorism, but when you discover the true meaning behind the music that one of the main characters listens to, and when the storyline finally reveals the true intentions of the characters, it suddenly makes sense that the ost is used there...
whats the title of the song he used for zankyou no terror?
Tyson Phonesavanh there are actually 2 songs he used at the end. The first one is called Von, while the second is Birden. They both feature the singer Arnor Dan. Though my favorite would have to be either Nc17 or Is ft. POP ETC.
