Another killer performance from Taras! Who wants to see me do a drum collab with this tune? 🤔
That move where he contorts his face is called a lip roll, the contortion is Taras moving his jaw to the side away from the corner of his mouth to create more space in his mouth before pulling the air in that creates the vibration between his lips. Between the space and the frequency his lips vibrate is what causes that sub bass sound on the mic. Without the mic it would similar but much less bass, and would sound closer to slurping lol.

A "lip roll" is what makes the sub bass sound. All lip and tongue noise, zero vocals... until hits the throat bass.
Also you should totally check out "Moments I Had" by Den! Epic!!!

FANTASTIC! I totally love beatboxing. I do a little bit of it myself--rhythm is a HUGE part of my life. You didn't mention Adam Rupp's work. Have you ever listened to him, in Home Free videos? Also, you can watch his intermission sets. He's super great. He also does all of his own mixing, for recordings. Hearing him live, though...A HUGE TREAT!!!

Oh wow, that’s so cool! We’ve checked out one home free song, but haven’t really dove into the catalog yet! Lot of folks recommending to check him out, especially his live drum solo. Taras Stanin though is absolutely insane, hearing him is a guaranteed 🤯 every time

His not using a throat bass he said himself
What other techniques are out there for producing that sound?
@setonhillstudios I'm not a professional but he does a lip thing he shows it on one of his latest chat videos his done
You can hear the throat bass on the downbeat here 3:33.
Also the sub bass he does with the side of his lips is called a "Lip-roll" . It's a very common sound among beatboxers.

I use my own sound for reese type of basses and throat bass for drops and phrases
