Dwarf Longbeard here, played from 6th ed, and loved my dwarfs from the beginning, so this is a very interesting video for me. Couple of pointers though. You gave the Hammerers Strength and Toughness 3, when it's 4. An oversite, I'll grant you, but still worth mentioning. Now, the Ironbreakers... They have never been unbreakable in the time I've used them. They've been unbreakable in the sense that when I was using them they had a 2+ AS in combat due to hand weapon and shield, so were effectively invulnerable, but they never had the rule. And them being stubborn is also a new thing, a very cool thing as far as I'm concerned, but new nonetheless. I will also say, I've had a lot of success with a Runesmith in with my Ironbreakers in the past, and with the extra rules they now have, they may add some good killing power to the Ironbreakers. Dwarf Cannons have always done D3 Wounds. It's been a sticking point with me since 6th ed with my brother being an Empire player and Lording his great cannons with their D6 wounds over me! Good thing I was the better artillerist with the guess range! :-P
Very interesting, personally I'm thinking our cannons are cheaper and can take runes, I think he's a little harsh on the dwarf cannon. It's less powerful but we've got much better infantry. Also if dwarf fire power was too Good we'd be the faction nobody would want to play.
Just representing the Dawi in the comments, rock and stone! Playing Dwarfs since 2004, I just had a match with a mate yesterday, Bretonnia. Seeing a full unit of Knights with Baron included being swept away with just one bonk of the Anvil is pure satisfaction.
You forgot the Runic Tattoo of the Dishonoured. It is a 75 point upgrade to Slayer characters that gives them a 6+ ward save (or 3+ when on the last wound) it also denys VP to your oppenent if he is killed. I am theary crafting a list with 1 Deamon Slayer tooled up to the 9s plus 3-4 DoomSeekers and just plan to rush my oppenent and hope he kills them denying him 550+ VP.
I just want to say that doomseekers are absolutely insane. With the ability to take up to 3 runic tattoos and in a royal clan army they get access to a higher point cap for runes. Mine with 7 attacks and plus 1 to hit wrecked a high elf prince in a challenge and proceeded to take apart the unit of sea guard he was a part of in subsequent turns. He finally died to a lucky bolt thrower shot but the best part was my opponent got no VP for him due to his special rule.
Music to my ears, so much good content. I'm involved in massive painting\battle challenge with dwarfs. I have a month to build and paint as many dwarfs as possible to play in an old world battle against a warriors Chaos player doing the same, points and core requirements don't matter, only what we can finish painting. The rules are... base coats at least have to be done and models must be based, there's no forge org restrictions, and we're allowed upgrades, but only those that you'd reasonably expect to find in most lists. The winner gets any old world set to a value of £100 or under (The value of the prize has ticked up the more he thinks he's going to win!) The idea is to obviously force ourselves to get painted armies on the table. But honestly just beating him would be worth it! He's a much better player at all miniature games. So far I only have a king on oathstone painted. My opponent has 36 chaos warriors almost done and he's started on a big unit of chosen with halberds. Squeaky bum time. Built, I have almost the full range with every unit represented, loads of elites, War machines, and copters. About 5000pts-6000pts if I paint it all. Very unlightly. I don't have the bugmans cart model, engineers set, the goblin hewer, and my made to oder characters. My opponent has the chaos battalion box built, loads of magic characters, dogs, a lord on manticore, a dragon. I know he's probably going to get way more! So what would you recommend I prioritise old world fans and dwarf kin? And how would you spec into fighting chaos and monsters? If points didn't matter only hobby time what would you bring?
Mate, the slayer is your only counter to most infantry and cavalry. give him master rune of swiftness and 7+ attacks and even dragonogres wont want to charge him. Killing blow is your friend. Although pillar of flames ruins your day ofcourse. But that spell just slaughters your army anyways.
Sadly not on the table top at the moment. Surely skaven should get a handy cap of 250pts to make closer games? I love you beautiful rat bastards and I think your being punished for the sins of eighth edition. (And I have two haves of the skaventide box myself!)
@@dannyhalas9408 although in general you're 100% right about our suffering. I think we play well into dwarfs still. I have a pretty solidly positive win/loss ratio against my dwarf playing friend and my boy in tournament game Vs dwarfs was my first ever tournament game and even then very very nearly won. But to reinforce what I said at the start. Yes 5/8 of my tournament games have felt like they were lost before the first dice was rolled.
4:40 until you realice that some of the best spells like column of fire ignore magic resistance is inmovable so it will not reach to dispell if the enemy dont want it to is a good unit but not for a normal army I must say im surprised with the pass of the runesmith i think its a cheap rune of dispelling carry and way more mobile but agree on the lord is just paying extra for not a lot of benefict
