05 NISSAN MURANO WITH AN INOPERATIVE FUEL GAUGE

  • Had an 05 Nissan Murano with an inoperative fuel gauge. Tried going through the trouble shooter but that required a consult III and the SnapOn software did not provide the proper data or functional tests for this. After finally finding the specs for the sending unit I substituded a 47 ohm resistor in place of the sending unit and got a half full reading on the gauge. If the resistance is outside of the specs the gauge will default to empty and there may not be any codes set in the cluster or PCM. A new fuel level sending unit should fix the problem. The current resistance of the sending unit is 106 ohms. Normal range is 81 to 2.5 ohms.

    Start with getting one of those snap on vantages then... u can pick them up on ebay cheap or even check ur local craigslists. Ive seen them in the $100-150 range.
