Figma is either very unintuitive or very limited for vector editing I literally cannot figure out how to add points. Maybe I'm stupid, but I assume it should be the first and the easiest thing to understand about vector editing. Now, instead, I'm forced to do workarounds and use old, but gold illustrator for editing stuff.
If your path tool doesn't snapping to your path and just making another new one, I got this! It's gonna work if you switch on geometry snapping on your preferences, than just use your path tool into editing your shape/path mode and it will snap to you object showing the + icon to add anchor point.
3:34 how do you do that? I add the line to draw the 'folded corner', then I want to grab one point and move it to the inside of the rectangular exactly like you did, but it ignores the diagonal line.. thanks
That's a great tool. Mainly the Vector Network, and keyboard shortcuts to edit the Bézier dots. These, in comparison with the Adobe Illustrator, are a true difference (I don't remember if Illustrator has these functionalities... If i'm wrong, please someone correct me). Yet, to make complex drawings and illustrations, Figma still haven't one functionality, which is the "Live Paint Bucket". If Figma had this tool, then would be complete.
show a demo with complex vector using pen tool, does it has a capacity to compete with adobe illustrator. How to divide shape into column & row with gutter space
Hello. I am having a problem drawing a triangle with the pen tool. I draw the first line, then when I go to draw the second line the line bends so it’s no longer a straight line. Any suggestions would be helpful thanks.
Hello Krystal, make sure you only click on the canvas with your pen tool when you're drawing a straight line. Clicking and dragging will create curved lines instead.
Frames can be set to crop or not crop on the right side, then ctrl drag any edge of it to crop…. if the shapes aren’t in a frame yet, you can frame them with ctrl+alt+G
Hey Alan, after creating a vector network, go to the "Stroke" section of the right sidebar, and adjust the weight property. You can also change how the stroke is drawn in relation to your vector network by choosing inside, center, and outside.
Why is it so hard to edit these in Figma? The pen tool doesn't work as described here. I grab a point and the whole thing moves. I can't move just the point. why? I've used dozens of vector applications. This pen tool is so inconsistent in how it works,
The many questions below indicate a real problem with the UX of Figma. As with most applications, they keep adding new features instead of nailing the fundamental tools. WHYYYYYYYYY?
It looks like Figma doesn't have the Scissor Tool like Adobe Illustrator does, but a simple workaround I found is to: 1) select object and enter vector edit mode 2) hover the mouse right in the middle of the two points 3) the cursor will become a pen tool. click to add a new point right there 4) hit "delete" (or backspace on a Mac) to delete that new point Then the stroke will disappear along with the new point :)
This is brilliant. WOW Illustrator needs to get this feature. Can't wait to use this in Figma.
How to add new node to the path.
How to divide a shape with a line.

While in shape editing mode press P for pen and then click on a line or anywhere else to add a point.
You're not stupid, starting out with any tool is super frustrating

Fantastic video. Paint bucket feature was 100% missed by me and now it saved me so much work.
thank you for the Bazier game. It helped me a lot!

Is there a way to use my iPad with an Apple Pencil as a drawing tablet for Figma ?
I'm guessing you could use the pencil tool (under the pen tool in the toolbar)
How do I get multiple colored fills in one vector?
Do you mean gradients, or do you mean using different colors in different parts of a shape?
Thank you! This video did save me.
Me and you both
Thank you sir

Agreed. A smart paint bucket capable to fill PNG images would be awesome
No triangle connectors? I'll continue to use Freehand. It is a must have in vector editing.
How to add a new point to an existing?
The real question is, can I take something I created that is mainly duplicated, like a rope or yarn string, and put it along the path of the pen tool?
Thank you!
great booster, thanks you bro

Is there any method to do something like disconnect one single anchor and seperate them for more other operations.

@@Figma Thank you for responding so quickly. I will try out your suggestion. Thanks!
These should really be updated when new features are added or removed. The bend tool no longer exists.
ooh Really I tried to do it but OMG i spend a whole day trying to make a curve but lucky me a saw border-radius I was so frustrated 😫😫😪😪😪😪
How can the point set by a pen snap to grid?
is there really no way to crop an svg still?

@@noa_1104 I meant in the same way I could crop a png
@@ibealgoody8524 I also crop PNGs by ctrl dragging the edges usually, which is the fastest way - and that still works with SVGs that are in a frame :)
I don't understand the paint bucket, please explain to me
How can I add a new anchor point?
Is there a way to create thick to thin lines?

@@Figma Thank you so much. Not just for this but for a wonderful/brilliant software.

Pleeeease, fix the smart animation/animation. For each sneeze, I have to create a separate frame. I HAVE ALL BUGGY!!! 😩😩😩😩😩😩
Good!
how to add a node to the path
how the heck do you add a point to a shape that has already been closed?
When I first used vector networks by accident I thought I was on shrooms
after enter we not able to edit
this pen tools drives me nuts every time I'm trying to draw a straight line and connect dots it always always gets curved that is so stupod

@@netzdiplomat579 Nice!! Didn't realise I could do that! Thanks for sharing :)

i hate will all my heart your vectors tools. Just do it like Illustrator, that's it.
