You can actually do wheelies in gta 5. You just hold the accelerate button and the handbrake button then release the handbrake
This video is misleading. First of all wheelie bars are to stop the car flipping backwards during drag races/wheelies. Also the wheelie bar does not interact with the ground and the wheels just go straight through the ground. I know this because I have used the wheelie handling mod with wheelie bar and have noticed that it just goes into the ground, it does not stop you from going back.
It doesnt touch the ground but it does interact. If you backed up into a wall, it will stop your car before the back of your car does.
It doesn't do anything, what the hell are you talking about? If there was any difference between the jump with the wheelie bar and the jump without the wheelie bar, which I honestly can't see, it's because you didn't hit the ramp correctly. Different speed, different angle, etc.
Wheelie bar is only cosmetic. You can even see in your video that it doesn't have a collision box. It's all in your head m8
Maxwell Tanner Give this man a cookie. He is exactly right. The wheelie bar is only there to look cool. If you possibly did a wheelie, say of a cliff or something, the wheelie bar would just go under the ground and do absolutely nothing.

Back up into a wall it will go straight through. It is completely aesthetic and does absolutely nothing and has no collision in game.

I get what everyone is saying about the functionality on drag strips (in real life), but in all my time on GTA, I've never seen a car pop a wheelie in quite the same fashion as in real life. Kudos to you for actually finding a use, or at least trying to

well, you are right about the wheelie part.. some muscle cars at drag strips with enough HP and torque can lift up, but the bar doesn't help stabilize the car going down the strip.

What a wheelie bar does in real life is prevent you from doing a wheelie, giving your car more traction off the line and a higher acceleration in response, mainly for the purposes of drag racing. Trying putting one on a fully modded Sabre GT if you can; it should actually prevent the car from doing a wheelie, increasing your overall off the line performance.
You know how ignorant you sound? How does a wheelie bar in real life PREVENT WHEELIES????? WTF??? in real life, the only purpose of a wheelie bar is because of a cars torque. If it has very very high torque, when coming off of the line in a drag. The front end will come off the ground because of how fast the back end is trying to go. A wheelie bar is simply so when you start off the at line. You can thoroughly accelerate. Without a wheelie bar your car WILL MOST LIKLEY do a backflip if you have no wheelie bar with a lot of torque. And don't think I mean landing the back flip. You probably won't land it
Cedric Focht Actually he is right, watch some drag racing videos where a car does a wheelie on launch. When a car does a wheelie on launch it has a slower acceleration, can damage the shocks/springs, and it makes your car do a burnout (most of the time at least). Bolting two metal bars that have wheels on them can up the torque going to the wheels, the wheels are there so it is just not two metal bars scraping the ground. Before you call someone ignorant do your research and make sure you are not the ignorant one.

Traction is how gripped you car is to the ground. High traction causes a good launch in drag races.

A wheelie bar in the real world is used for cars on a track that have so much power that the front wheels will lift of the ground and a wheelie bar prevents them from going too far up

It’s used for dragging. IRL the boost will lift them up and this will catch and put them back down for a faster launch

It also helps with drifting in the saber turbo because with that on the back end there is more weight and the force of the e brake being pulled makes it sway and makes drifting a lot better and easier
I drive a jr dragster and I don't have a wheelie bar but they help you keep the front tires close to the ground on a drag launch

they should add the ability to do wheelies in the cars that have a wheelie bar, so if you max out the engine and tubro etc you can do wheelies off the line, so then if you put the wheelie bar on the car it stops it doing the wheelie, gives muscle cars more attention because not many people use them, i mostly see super cars online, zentorno/turismo/adder/cheetah. Then it would give the wheelie bar a proper use in the game, i would have more muscle cars if you could do wheelie bars, imo i only like the dominator an the sabre tubro
I used the wheelie mod back on the 360, and we had full lobby drag races with modded paint schemes, and muscles it was awesome (some kids in the lobby didn't know we had the mod on our second accounts) and we just popped a wheelie it was epic. They really should allow them to, it would fit the Grand Theft Auto universe if you have a pimped out muscle car.
Of course, not like the whole way down a quarter mile stretch but maybe for the first 2 seconds of acceleration.

In drag races they are used as a safety feature. Some cars have enough torque to literally flip backwards and it prevents that...

most of the people in the comment section don't seem to understand the reason for a wheelie bar. it is used to stop the car from doing a wheelie because to do a wheelie that requires torque and therefore it is being wasted on spinning the car instead of the wheels. a wheelie bar stops that and forces the torque to go into the wheels instead making the wheels spin faster.
Yeah, it will stop you from doing wheelies, but it's not designed for doing so from hitting a curb. It's designed for almost eliminating a wheelie due to taking off extremely fast in a drag race. That's why they're only available on muscle cars.
It's all so good for when the cops ram you from behind it gives you extra protection on the rear end of your car and little bit of more control when getting hit example you don't spin out of control that easily

I've seen someone in gta online do wheelies with a car that had a wheelie bar on it. It was pretty bad ass, he wouldn't tell me how he was able to pull wheelies but I did a ride around with him and we were doing wheelies all the way down the runway at the airport. Like literally the entire runway lol it was sick as fuck.

A wheelie bar is made to stop a drag racer doing too a big wheelie, if the car gets too high it can flip, go out of line and hit walls, and slow down a car too much... in gta online its made so it looks like the car can do wheelies, thats it

I didn't realize a wheelie bar had that additional catch to prevent mid-air tailspin or tail flip. now I want to try out jumps without it to see the difference...
Hes right, wheelies bars are made to keep the high powered drag and performance vehicles from flipping because they have 800 plus hp, 12 o'clock bars are made to catch a wheelie. 12 meaning you're standing that bitch straight up like a clock at midnight. In this case with GTA, the wheelie bar is definitely made to keep the muscle cars down. It's not that they don't want the vehicle to wheelie, it's that they don't want the ass end to walk and end up barrel rolling
How to ACTUALLY use the wheelie bar is, you have to get your car into a still position, hold down the brakes and revving the engine and then let go from the brakes and your car will speed into a wheelie immediately

Wheelie bar in real life is to actually prevent the front wheels coming up from a launch. Professional drag racers use them so they don’t lift the front wheels and loose control.
