Haven't felt the need to collect any of these WWE Retros besides that Jim Neidhart. Was able to find it locally, such a great figure!
Nicolai did have the blue on the side of the tights as a bad guy...but the blue stripes were thin back in those days. On this version, they made the blue stripe a lot wider than it normally would be.
Love that we finally got a pink and black Anvil, but I wish this line had more body diversity. It feels weird that somehow JYD, Cena, Angle, Warrior and The Anvil all have the same physique.
I realize the original Hasbros weren't perfect, but I feel like they tried harder to make it work. We really need some stockier body types in Mattel. I'd like to see more of a barrel-chested body like the old Duggan. Plus a fat guy body. The Owens body doesn't cut it for guys like Tugboat.
It’s the worst body type also and they keep giving it people I want the most like angle sheikh jyd and now anvil even the jumpers are better than this
The Heart foundation are excellent figures. I dont have a problem with Jimmy Hart having the musical notes all over his jacket. He was a musician before he became a manager in wrestling. I think it works just fine. I'm kind of surprised Nikolai didnt have a red shirt molded onto him too. Cool set.
This was an easy buy for me. I like collecting tag teams and managers so I never questioned Nikolai since I wanted him with my Iron Sheik. I never had Hasbros but I enjoy this line as another way to get Legends. As long as it remains Legends I'll keep buying.

Love the hart foundation. Especially when anvil did those crazy promos.

Hasbro Bret is awesome. I bought Mattel Anvil to pair him up with Hasbro Bret.

Nikolai did have a spin kick but was usually used in a combo melee attack not a finisher though . Either an accident or they researched and it’s almost like a deep cut .
That's New Foundation Jim Neidhart. He and Owen were in it together. I use to pair them together since their outfits matched. High Energy had Koko. Has Mattel made any Koko B Ware elites?
The Hitman pose on the Mattel is great, he can clothesline, elbow drop, DDT, Bulldog, punch, suplex, neck-breaker (both swinging and standard).. hell, a little imagination and he can apply the sharpshooter. Volkov is great, nice and simple, Anvil is great, although maybe the Brock body would have been better, but no real complaints from me. Just glad to have a the retros back

If you look up Jimmy Hart with Hart Foundation promo pics online, there are many pics where he has musical notes on his jacket posing with the Harts. So he didn't only wear a heart laden jacket with them.
I got two packs as well. I dig them a lot. Mine shipped just waiting for them to show.

I like these, and I don't. Mattel has used the hell out of 5 different molds. I agree with you on the kick gimmick mold, it's terrible. The scrawny Jimmy Hart ends up being bigger & buffer then everyone else in this wave. The mold that they used for bret Hart is probably the best mold but they have just used it way too much. The mold for anvil is almost as bad as the mold used for Nickoli. not good.

Volkoff is rather strange to add in this collection. I really wanted the Hart foundation as I never got Bret and Jim as a kid with the Hasbros. These days, Bret especially, is mad expensive. This pose is better than the original Bret pose. Maybe they should have added another Bret without glasses or with a jacket instead of a Koloff
These are the best retro figures, because you get an action feature and the price. I know that some other stuff is official but you can't beat the price on these. I think Mattel made more than they needed because people will go back and buy them, instead of eBay.

So, they gave you the old "Nikolai kickolai" off the playground? I'm glad you received a good Jimmy Hart. My Jimmy Hart had a blue smudge on his right hand and a small streak of pink down the back of his jacket. Disappointing, but still a great figure overall.
I got mine in the mail this morning but haven't opened them yet.

I love the retros but the QC on the paint app on this wave is terrible. I bought 2 sets and 6 of the 8 figs have sloppy paint (especially the Hart Foundation). I called Mattel for an exchange so hopefully I get them soon.
I wish the retros quality was better like the OG Hasbro. I think Heels & Faces are actually better quality. What you think ?

Those are nice figures but I'm not really interested in the retros even though It does remind me of the old Hasbro toys my brothers and I used to have growing up. However I do want Bret Hart's newest elite figure , that looks awesome; same with British bulldog . I need him too! Nikolai kickolai was pretty funny! Otherwise it's an awesome video either way! Pretty easy to see why these are still available. It's a really headscratching approach that Mattel took by putting all their eggs in the Hart Foundation basket for an entire set. Severely limiting their sales by narrowing the potential buyers to solely those who NEED to buy Retros and those who are fans of the Hart Foundation. Nobody (very few) is buying this for Volkov only. I'm a huge Bret Hart fan and this set puts me to sleep. No doubt the nWo set will move way faster. Moving forward though...the bland nature to the packaging and the heavily 80's approach needs to go by the wayside. This line won't survive by just meeting us 40 somethings golden age needs. Needs to cater a liiiiiiittle more to the casuals to survive IMO
Putting newer wrestlers in the line is what killed it at retail if you remember back a few years ago. Fans said they wanted golden age guys. I subscribe to that logic. I feel issue is retro burn out, competition and of course $ not going as far.
@@KylePeterson1980 Definitely aware of the downfall of the last retro line...but I still feel like there's a better happy medium in terms of eras. Also believe in todays collecting climate (despite the funds issue!), the last approach would perform better today. Guess we'll get a peak into that with the nWo line.
