@@7thson726 Fair play mate she broke the Old Guard on her first game! Not many people can say that. At Waterloo it took the British Foot Guards with 2-1 + odds and a flank attack to break just the Middle Guard (and after they'd rolled over the Brigades in front!!). She's a wargaming Terminator! This is the perfect sized game for two players. Good battle. Still a 6 - 3 victory for the British even without the crossroads. Good fun.
Nice video - but it illustrates an issue I had with Black Powder and why I sought other rules. At 19 minutes the Old Guard take several hits but manage to roll off almost all of them by saving on 3+. This shows how often "hot dice" on saving/morale rolls during a battle could really tilt a game. I prefer rules like General d'Armee in which units don't get saving rolls - but simply can absorb more hits if they are veteran or elite units. Nevertheless, thanks for the video.
Thanks 👍 i understand what you're saying but its not something that really bothers me. I like those moments in game and find that they become the parts you remember. The morale save and stamina system in black powder doesn't just represent the stacking up of casualties but also the fatigue, sapping of morale and the willingness of the men to fight. I always take the view that when something like that happens it can represent those moments where a unit goes on against the odds, perhaps an officer rushes forward to encourage the men, or another trooper picks up the fallen colours etc. That been said i do like General D'armee as well just dont have the opportunity to play it as much 😁
It was designed with getting a game over in one night with a conclusion . And cover a large window of numerous wars of Musketry warfare , that are a modifiable ruleset . So you win some lose some for it

Monopoly is the desteoyer if friendships haha 👍 she took pity in me but ended up really enjoying it, got another planned, i just need to find new dice first 😀
love napoleonics! i prefer DBA-ish horse-musket variant rules. i am running a napoleonic campaign, which is called napoleon's last war, and which re-creates the massive invasion of france AFTER the 100 days. yes indeed, 800 thousand allied troops are on their way in, and it is quite the story. most people have not heard much about these battles. yet, there is a whole war after waterloo. whether he wins or loses there, that is just the start! i use dba-ish/house rules, and the battles can be quite large. if interested, please check me out at hoser house rules. look for the postings with the "napoleon's last war" subtitle. keep gaming!
Hi there, really pleased you like the videos. Warlors games make this fame and they have a big range. I would highly recommend Perry Miniatures, probably my favourite 👍
@@7thson726 I was wondering if you reduced the number of moves too, but maybe I'm just underestimating the size of the table... I'm wary of the multiple-move rules of BP.
@@highlandphaeron nice one, its all still essentially the same, the units are the same footprint size, just smaller models so more on the bases and it uses cm instead of inches 👍

Great video! My armies are nearly ready for battle nowon a similar sized table, I was wondering whether you reduce the distances from the original black powder rules? I probably should have picked this up from the video but haven't...
Haha, lock down has a lot to answer for! Martin, surely those dastardly Brit Hussars could have claimed a point of support in that final turn, and don't Brit Cav have that terrible rule that allows them to reroll all their combat misses?
Absolutely haha, it certainly does. Honestly, I can't remember, I got such a kicking it probably doesn't matter. I think British heavy cav get the combat resolution bonus but can't remember about a re roll, unless that was in the Waterloo update they did for Epic Battles 😁
@@7thson726 my brother was the Brit player - that's what stopped me from forgetting! lol. I'm working my way thru this series. A great way to play, using a small number of units. We always got bogged down in large battles. Inspiring.
Hello mate, thanks for commenting. The answer is, no, not really. I can get a whole evening of gaming out of 28mm on a 6 x 4 or 7 x 5 table. I don't gwt to use all my stuff but occasionally we'll play on a 8 x 10. I find it's more to do with the scenario, so long as you keep it clear and simple then it plays absolutely fine, 👍
Bah ha ha Dude your wife beat you on her first game! May I recommend a new game for you? It’s called Chutes and Ladders. Nice BR though. Thank you I’m ,just getting into BP.
Thanks very much 😀 Are you sure? i cant find anything in the rules for that? all i can see is the normal modifiers for close range (+1) or the negative for shooting at a skirmishing unit (-1), Sharpshooter allows them to re-roll a single miss. I've been playing for about 5 years and never come across that before, have you got a ref as if its somehting i've always gotten wrong id really like to know 👍
It’s a +1 for skirmishers shooting but was in 1st edition and has been taken out for 2nd. Excellent battle reports by the way, only just found them and really enjoying them, waiting to get my troops back on the table

Never bluff a woman on 6 inches! Great fun. In 25 years of marriage my wife and I have never played a wargame, last game on monopoly almost ended in divorce. Great game to watch
Monopoly is the desteoyer if friendships haha 👍 she took pity in me but ended up really enjoying it, got another planned, i just need to find new dice first 😀
😂
He's been trying to bluff me that for years, no defence when he's holding a tape measure 😂😂😂

Be wary of quiet smiling warrior queens!
Indeed 😀👍
love napoleonics! i prefer DBA-ish horse-musket variant rules. i am running a napoleonic campaign, which is called napoleon's last war, and which re-creates the massive invasion of france AFTER the 100 days. yes indeed, 800 thousand allied troops are on their way in, and it is quite the story. most people have not heard much about these battles. yet, there is a whole war after waterloo. whether he wins or loses there, that is just the start! i use dba-ish/house rules, and the battles can be quite large. if interested, please check me out at hoser house rules. look for the postings with the "napoleon's last war" subtitle. keep gaming!
Thanks for checking it out, I'll have a look at those, great stuff 👍
Thank you so much for this. I am planning to get into this type of table top game. Would you recommend a place to shop for the models?
Hi there, really pleased you like the videos. Warlors games make this fame and they have a big range. I would highly recommend Perry Miniatures, probably my favourite 👍
@@7thson726 Ty again. I can't wait to get started.
Well done! Makes me eager to play. What changes did you make - looks like reduced moves for a start. I ask as a librarian who plays with kids.
Thanks, one of my favourite games. We just reduced all movement to 2/3 of what they normally are but kept range the same 👍
@@7thson726 I was wondering if you reduced the number of moves too, but maybe I'm just underestimating the size of the table... I'm wary of the multiple-move rules of BP.
@@JBurdoo nah we still did up to 3 moves in the normal way 👍
What's the table size?
6 x 4 ft 👍
is richard sharpe in this game?
Hello mate 😀👍 some companies make a model of him i think, ive got one who looks like Hagman.
We're do u get all you're terrain from like grass
I make the long grass pieces myself from teddy bear fur. The buildings are kits from Sarissa and the rest is all from Last Valley 👍
Also, what is the make of the roads?
They are from Last Valley 👍 he makes excellent scenery
new to historical tabletop, can anyone tell me what model size these are. Thx in advance.
Hi there, welcome aboard, these are all 28mm miniatures 👍
Cheers for that, I'm entering via the napaleonic epic set at 15mm. Still trying to understand unit sizes but loved the Battle Report.
@@highlandphaeron nice one, its all still essentially the same, the units are the same footprint size, just smaller models so more on the bases and it uses cm instead of inches 👍
Hi
Where did you get all your scenery from ?
Particularly the meadow and cornfields .
Hi, its all a mix, the hedgerows, roads are from Last Valley Terrain, the msf buidlings are Sarissa and i made the meadows and cornfields from Teddy Bear Fur, there are a few tutorials online that i followed, if you google teddy bear fur fields you ahould pick them up 👍
One question for the end of the game how does she get 6 points since the other dice is 5 points and for the French side how do you get a 3
6 was for the units destroyed, 5 for the objectives.
Nice tabletop wargaming! How About French- and Indian war? Do you collect/play that also? BR
Thanks very much, glad you enjoyed it. I have a French force to paint for muskets and tomahawks which is FIW, will actually be starting on them this week 👍
cool, i am looking forward to it. I own a french and a british force too but not painted yet. so, thanks your Videos!
How do you treat 1/2 batteries? What rules, restrictions, etc?
I use the rules un Albion Triumphant II, they follow all the normal rules but their shooting line is 1-1-2, 👍
@@7thson726 Thanks for pointing that out. I see it at the bottom of page 108, and for some reason, I never noticed it before .
Great video!
My armies are nearly ready for battle nowon a similar sized table, I was wondering whether you reduce the distances from the original black powder rules?
I probably should have picked this up from the video but haven't...
Thanks very much 👍😀
i reduced the movement by 2/3 rds but kept the range the same, seemed to work well
Where are the tokens from? (Lovely looking armies and terrain, by the way).
Thanks 👍😃 the tokens i ordered through Warbases, they have a custom mdf section
Haha, lock down has a lot to answer for! Martin, surely those dastardly Brit Hussars could have claimed a point of support in that final turn, and don't Brit Cav have that terrible rule that allows them to reroll all their combat misses?
Absolutely haha, it certainly does. Honestly, I can't remember, I got such a kicking it probably doesn't matter. I think British heavy cav get the combat resolution bonus but can't remember about a re roll, unless that was in the Waterloo update they did for Epic Battles 😁
@@7thson726 its in the Albion Triumphant supplements, Gallop at Anything and Ferocious Charge from BP rulebook. They make British Cavalry very nasty.
@@nzdarkelf2451 ah, yeah, probably forgot at the time 😅
@@7thson726 my brother was the Brit player - that's what stopped me from forgetting! lol. I'm working my way thru this series. A great way to play, using a small number of units. We always got bogged down in large battles. Inspiring.
What mm is this? 15?
28mm 👍
Bro I know this is an old video but does the 28mm scale impact you? Like it's too small a battle?
Yeah, dice were not on my side in this one. I would play her at boardgames but it goes much the same way 👍😀 Glad you liked it
I wish this wasn't so expensive
I know what you mean, have you looked at the Epic Warlord products, these are smaller scale and let you build big armies for alot less 👍
Hi Nice game. I have to tell that skirmishers shoot always on 3s.
Thanks very much 😀
Are you sure? i cant find anything in the rules for that? all i can see is the normal modifiers for close range (+1) or the negative for shooting at a skirmishing unit (-1), Sharpshooter allows them to re-roll a single miss.
That is a scary woman !
Haha because she'll play a wargame or because she is unrelenting with the aggressive tactics 😅👍
Your wife's burn at 14:20 haha
Yes, she takes no prisoners and enjoys rubbing it in 😁
Hehe you took it well fella to be fair. Are you planning on making any more in this series? Absolutely loved your three so far, would be interesting to see if you can keep up that French streak ;)
@@GrimAnglo awesome, glad your enjoying them. There will be more, we have the next scenario planned. Next battle report up will be for a differe t game and then it should be back to Black Powder 👍😁 the French will be back.
Yesss, you’ve made my day. So excited now :D
Hope you enjoy your game :)
Typical "frenchy " antics
Haha indeed 😀
