they are heroes that took my heart
Originally, Bernese Mountain Dogs were working dogs pulling milk carts . As shown in the super great older pictures.

We have one and indeed he is super gentle and shy
They are a bit different, if they actually live on a farm here in the state of bern. They will welcome strangers, generally rather warmly by almost toppling you over. Also had some instances were they were in guard mode. then you better keep your distance, as all gentleness is gone. They can be very clear, one step more onto the farm and you will get torn to shreds. (I live in Bern)
Such lovely dogs but not for everyone. My hope is before obtaining, people research the needs and challenges of the breed.
