    Bought my D70 in 2007 at antique shop, $250 with kit lense, etc. Later came across a D70s at estate auction, $50 with kit again, under 100 shutter activations. About 2015, bought a D90 with 187 activations and whole kit again, ebay, $25 plus shipping. Charging my 7 batteries now.

    the D70 is the best camera for street phtography. The CCD sensor comes so close to film. I shoot at 800iso and on the VIVID setting. take it into photoshop and convert to black and white and you will be shocked at how well it does. Blows CMOS senors away.

      Canon did a great job with CMOS. They were not as good as Nikon when it comes to lower light performances, but the colors specially the skin tones were the reason people loved canon DSLRs.

    Still use my D70 which I bought 2004. It gives good results for a digital camera that was made 18 years ago. Thanks for the walk back down memory lane Dan.

    I purchased a D70s in 2008 & although I have updated to a D7100 & then D500 I have kept my D70s & still use it from time to time...love the erganomics of Nikon.... cheers from Australia 🦘🦘😊

    I bought my D70 in 2004, it was my first interchangeable lens camera. Build quality was great, and it never let me down. I'm just an amateur, and the D70 managed all I needed. I upgraded to a Panasonic G6 in 2013, the main reason being the ability to record video. And today I use a Panasonic G80, but I still look back at those D70 days fondly.

    Something like a declaration of love to a camera with which it all began and which is still a really nice DLSR with a professional look today. Thank you very much You have encouraged me to use my Nikon D70a again and again, best regards, Bernd

    My brother just sent me his D-70, which was his first digital camera. I look forward to being re-educated on this superb old camera. My cell phone does a decent job but does not compare for certain things I want to do.
    My old Minolta (non digital) camera was stolen over 20 years ago. That was a sad thing because I loved it. I bought another one but it quit working and I got it repaired. It quit again about about 13 years ago and I didn’t replace it.
    I’m a happy camper again thanks to my big brother. 😊
    Thank you, Dan, for taking the time to share your expertise with us.

    we like mine in 2022 as the ccd sensor gives that indescribable special texture and colour.
    also, the smaller monitor makes us work harder to genuinely engage in photography because we are less certain as to how the photo turned out before viewing on larger screen.
    we will not use photoshop.

    I just picked up a D70s at my local thrift store for $8.00 US. it came with both the 18-70mm and the 70-300mm. it's in mint condition and looks brand new. who ever had it must have only used it a couple of times then stored it in a closet. Your video has inspired me to see the results I will get once the battery is fully charged.

    • @MrAnalogDan12

      $8 ! Wow, that's impressive. Here in europe, they'd sell these for 80 to 100 euros. You're either lucky or I should move to the US ;) Enjoy your D70 !!!

    • @marcp.1752
      @marcp.1752 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats nothing ! I paid 20 bucks for a minty D70s body in makers box, but without the 18-70 DX lens, which i've had before from my original D70 in 2004. Sold it later, bought the D70s 2005, sold it 2010, after the D7000, because i've owned already the D40, D60 & D80, D90...and so the D70(s) must go. Horrible small OVF, beside that, with RAW great images, still 2023+ and beyond.

    • @daktarioskarvannederhosen2568
      @daktarioskarvannederhosen2568 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@marcp.1752 i have never encountered a dslr or slr that has a 'horrible small' Optical ViewFinder.
      ..and the d70/d70s OVF is by no means horrible. i would guess it to have the typical 95-100% coverage.
      any dimming in the OVF, as you know, is related exclusively to lens and has nothing to do with the body.

    • @marcp.1752
      @marcp.1752 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@daktarioskarvannederhosen2568 You don't shoot enough, and haven't grown up with (35mm) Film then. The D70(s) OVF is terribly small - both from magnification ratio, and Eyepoint size, period.
      Again "any dimming in the OVF, as you know, is related exclusively to lens and has nothing to do with the body." shows, you don't shoot long enough, with that comment.
      FYI, OVFs came into pentamirror and pentaprism style, the D70(s) does have a dim-lit, cheapskate, way small OVF, there's nothing to rate it good here, i have the DSLR here since release, and at my fingertips. Mind you, i do own & shoot the F60, F75, F90x, F80, F100. Digital Nikons: D100, D40, D60, D70s, D80, D90. D7000 & D700 (FX).
      Just any of these, even the D40, does have a bigger, better OVF than the D70(s). It's okay when you like it, but it's simply a lie, to say that OVF is good, which it isn't.

      @@marcp.1752 the viewfinder is great on the nikon d70s; i, too, use one. as to how long i have been interested in cameras is neither here nor there; nonetheless, i obtained my first serious camera in 1980.

I did not know that this was one that is though so well of. Looks like you are not alone in your opinion of the D70 from many others on TH-cam.
