    Their First Reunion Song....and damn.....I can remember when it was released.....and SMASHED right into my Face....one of the Best Comeback Songs ever written !

      I must confess it was some yrs later til I heard this. Purple was not on my radar in '84. I was listening to Undercover, Altar Boys, Steve Taylor, etc.. fresh stuff outta Orange county 😎

    Elvis' "comeback special" on TV in 1968 is considered the greatest rock comeback. This has to be the second. It was sooo huge, believe me. People went bonkers: Deep Purple was back! People had missed this kind of British hard-rock sound (Blackmore's Rainbow was never quite it - it needed John Lord's keyboard). In the video, Blackmore even SMILES, lol

    • @XtheMystic244
      @XtheMystic244 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'd have to disagree - ACDC's "Back in Black" IS the greatest comeback album ever !

    • @classiclife7204
      @classiclife7204 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@XtheMystic244 Ah, but they never went away. The Purple had been disbanded for almost a decade - to say nothing of the very style. That kind of heavy, epic, plodding style had been practically forgotten in '84, a time of thrash-anger bands and flashy guitar heroes in the EVH vein.

    Deep Purple made a stellar comeback in 1984 after being broken up since 1976 (This line-up w/ Ian Gillan and Roger Glover) had not played together since 1973)... 'Perfect strangers' was an exceptional record.
    Strange that in 1983 to 1987, u had Kiss come back huge w/ 'Lick it up' after years of decline... Then, we got Aerosmith making a huge comeback in 1987 w/ 'Permanent vacation'... Yes coming back strong w/ '90125'... 70's rock bands finding success in the 80's! 🤘🤘
    Unfortunately, quite a few 70's bands never came back w/ the same level of success - Blue Oyster Cult, U.F.O, Nazareth, Thin Lizzy, Uriah Heep, Kansas, Ramones, Blondie, etc.

    Knockin at your back door is my fav deep purple song. It defines how to kayer and build a sound into a massive crescendo of melody. And i have argued that the opening lyrics are some of the coolest ever. Sweet Lucy was a dancer, but none of us would chance her, because she was a Samurai.

    Ian Gillan and Ronnie James DIO are the two biggest vocal influence of Bruce Dickinson, Ritchie Blackmore is one of the biggest influences of Malmsteen, Petrucci and Steve Vai, Roger Glover of Rudy Sarzo and many other bassists, Ian Paice of Lars and many other drummers, and Jon Lord, is pretty much the most influential keyboardist and organist of the whole rock history.

    The nice thing about growing up When I did was the holy Trinity of hard rock out of England. Which was Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, and Deep Purple I Personally like deep purple best Because I love the heavy keyboard sound with john lord and Ian Gillan voice The whole band and was on another level. I thought saythey had a longer catalog of great songs Where is black? Black sabbath with Ozzy in the seventies Never say die technical extasy Those two albums were some bar for the The Osborne era. They didn't redeem themselves till Dio joined Black Sabbath released Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules. Deep purple did not do that i've always loved their music. Led zeppelin two albums while they were still out the last two physical physical graffiti and and in through the outdoor They were good But nowhere near as good as the first four albums That is why I put j purple is the best band of the holy trinity of hard rock of those three groups

    Went to see purple last year. Great night. Gillan for his age still has a good voice. What I don't understand is why are people on talking about the song etc. I have seen many and different groups. Surely what anyone else thinks about a song won't actually change your view on what you like

    Hi! Now you need to do a reaction to a criminally overlooked guitarist who was
    Deep Purple's pick to replace Ritchie Blackmore and the Rolling Stone's pick to replace Mick Taylor- the legendary Rory Gallagher. For studio work, try taking a listen to "Cradle Rock" for its energy and gutsy slide work or the melancholy "Edged In Blue" for the exquisite solos. These are good introductions into his work. Thanks!

    I'm curious how come so long since last Tom MacDonald reaction? It's been 6 months and when you first learned about him your reviews were pretty regular. Just curious if you're getting some backlash on covering him. I understand if you don't feel right "or safe" if the question causes discomfort. I've been asked by my followers "on my 11 TH-cam channels (well 12 but I just decided to activate this one and changed it's title specificially to cover controversial topics and non-better to start with than Tom MacDonald to kick the channel off) So I've already analyzed all his music and now watching all the reaction videos on YT to get an idea of the feeling about him. And while there are a lot of people getting the obvious message he's putting out fact is he has done WAY too much homework, research, etc for his videos and each video is full of easter eggs that NO ONE is catching onto. Except probably the politicians, wealthy, and government and they don't care really because they already know that vast majority of society won't see his videos (because they can't stand rap, the message his deliverying is over their head, totally miss the hidden messages 'which is sad actually') or any other reasons. But the fact is is that way too many people will miss his videos and message from both sides. So long way to go to give my reason for commenting but I found your channel specifically because of your Tom reaction videos. So why the layoff on covering him?
