Crotchets are my preferred protective style, but I've never tried to do it myself. I'm a tad nervous that it will go badly. My ability to do cornrows on myself, or even flat twist, is highly questionable sis. Also, the way my patience is set up....lol, I don't know if this would work for me haha. You did a great job though!
Try the braidless crochet method. I can barely braid & I just learned how go flat twist. But for the braidless crochet all you have to do is put your hair in a few buns depending on the style.

I like how you twisted the front. There are some back spaces but I know you'll finesse it. That's one of the problems with crochet braids, you end up using so much hair to cover your braids and before you know it your head is weighed down with 10 lbs of hair.
Demetria Strozier to remove the weight you brick lay the braids at the front that way when it says down the strands from the adjacent braid falls into the spaces. Then you do the back the way she did it spaced but making sure it's covered also
The very first dread you did had me rolling 😂😂😂 made it more difficult then what it was & it’s funny how you said you’re not faux locking nothing & then ended up doing faux locks on you edges 😂😭

I think the only reason it took long was because it was your first time. For my first time it took 5 hours but now i can do it in about an hour and a half
Girllll my 1st crochet install I started at 7pm on a Sunday because all the yt tutorials said 2 hours. Well, at 1am I came to the conclusion that I would be forced to call out of work smh. I finished the next afternoon. Now I can do it in 2 hours, but it definitely takes practice.
Honest and fun as ever, Chizi! The end result was brilliant. You can see a glimpse of your underlying parts, but only when you pushed the braids/locks around. It only took you four hours!! I'd be walking around with my head half done for days!!! Go ahead on, girl!
