  • We travel from St Leonards in Victoria up to Mullumbimby in the Northern Rivers region of NSW.
    But this time we test our set up and just use Free Camps.
    Come and join us to see how we go just relying on our own power and water for the trip.

    I reckon its always great when you do these videos. Gives everyone an idea on whats available when you pass thru these towns. Thanks heaps - regards Marie. Forgot to add. We went up the Moonbi's towing the van and yes, its is a bit hair raising.

    Great to hear you trying the free camps around. We did they same thing on our recent trip up to Cairns. What we found was the free camps ranged from unbelievably good to the absolute pits. In general, we found the best ones were those on the grounds of the local pubs...real country pubs are generally top notch for food and pretty good with the facilities for camping.

    • @beyondthegreyoz
      @beyondthegreyoz  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes they certainly do vary quite a bit. Together with Pub Camping there are so many options

    One trick I've learned at rest stops and free camping sites. If there is a water tank marked "not suitable for drinking", I walk around it. If there are no pipes coming up from the ground into the tank, it's a rainwater tank and it is potable water.

    I think that small towns that offer donation camps would be grateful if travellers donated more than the price of a coffee. Very stingy of you if I can so.

    • @garyb47

      @Tilly Kelp. The stingy ones are the multitude who don't even leave their empty cans and bottles for the local charities, let alone a donation for use of the land to park on !!

      @suewiles292 ปีที่แล้ว

      How rude. You don’t know how much they spent in the area on fuel, food etc. That’s why small towns provide these camps, to encourage people to spend money in their communities
