Thank you for sharing, this pointing cuts to the very core of experience. It is one of the most direct descriptions I have listened to and will keep coming back to it. This is a treasure if recognised 🙏🏻
“We don’t perceive because there is a world. There is a world because we perceive it” Only knowing is real, the world is an illusion created by our sensations and perceptions. The world is knowing. Thank you Rupert for such a marvelous teaching and thankyou Alan for sharing it with us.
Recently ‘living’ in awareness has had an unusual impact on perception. When I’m walking down a street it almost feels as though I’m on a treadmill. That my legs are moving up and down and that the world is moving towards me. It’s super strange.
16:01 note to myself on lady walking through running experience. Re-listen…fascinating listening to her walk through her experience. Instead of explains what happened like prior dude, it’s more like she’s working though it as she explains
She's obviously speaking from direct experience eh? The implications of the understanding that movement is only a fabrication of thought are very profound. 🙏💕
Love listening to these, thank you. One question that is troubling me is that of awareness is creating the body and the world why go to the elaborate lengths of creating bodies with intricate organs like eyes that science shows is a receiver of light from the world? So if we agree that awareness creates the body/world/mind it’s as if awareness is doing its best to hoodwink all the separate selves into think matter and light is real and that eyes receive light and ears receive sound etc. I’ve reached a sticking point since thinking this way.
Awareness doesn't create a body and world. Body and world are extracted from a seamless reality, a vibration of awareness by thought. Do we see with eyes? Ask yourself, how do I see in a dream. The concepts of eyes and bodies and a world are essential for daily life but they become a problem when believed. Ask yourself the question, have you ever experienced a world or do we only ever experience the present perception? 🙏
But I can look at a table, close my eyes and ‘see’ a table in my minds eye data extracted from memory. I can see my mother’s house in my mind’s eye. Dreaming could just be a replay of these memories as images in the mind. I have found much of Rupert’s teachings very profound but certain things do not necessarily follow from experience. What does follow from experience is that I do get the sense of awareness at my core that is separate from the mind and the body. I feel that I’m experiemcing that now. I also get that all there really is is this knowing of experience, sensing and perceptions. What is an extrapolation that doesn’t necessarily follow is that the world and matter doesn’t exist - it may or may not. What also does not necessarily follow is that we share a common consciousness. That does not necessarily follow either, can’t get that from my experience. I will continue to ‘enjoy’ the experience that feels real that I am awareness whether or not that is local to me or universal.
@@dalegriffiths3628 we can't say that all there is is knowing and still assert a world made of matter. But you are right that you can enjoy yourself as awareness as it is very obvious in experience. If you want to chat further you can find me on Facebook.
Hi Alan, by knowing I meant knowing that I have a sense of awareness. I know that I have this experience that conventional science would say that this is due to perceptions from a real world filtered to us through our senses. But of course it might be that there is no world but I don’t think that my use of the world knowing suggests that the world isn’t real. Even with the parts of his teachings that feel real to me has still had a profound impact on me x
If sensations, perceptions, thoughts etc has no weight, age etc. Then where is this weight, age etc comes from when we weigh the body or measure the age etc come from?
suman joshi they are an overlay by thought. In direct experience, there is no time, movement, weight, solidity, age etc. Does a weighing device in a dream, actually measure weight? 🙂
The Direct Path: A User Guide by Greg Goode is a great book for looking at direct experience. He goes through each of the senses and uses experiments to show how thought conceptualises and labels experience. I highly recommend it.
Alan Neachell thank you. Understanding vacillates back and forth. I am pretty much anchored in the path but not completely. I return home almost always. I started reading the book.🙂

Lovely music! Fascinating talk! The thought that arose is how can pure awareness or nothing vibrate or modulate ?
We don't know. We could say that it's just it's nature but that would only be an assumption.
