- Join me as I take the Kia for Mot and service and see my “new” car, I also update you on the Focus and have some news on my old Rover 45
Hi, I'm Rick (tall big ears) & sometimes I'm assisted by Lee (short wonky eye)
From late 2023 onwards the channel will need to diversify to survive, I find myself less able to commit to cars alone on here and more interested in general life experiences, so on the channel you may also see what I get up to in my life, or just see me chatting nonsense.
Be assured I'll always make the title and thumbnail appropriate to the video so if you're only here for the cars or trains you can ignore the rest. I currently own and run 2 older cars, AGATHA is a 1978 Austin Allegro 1300 Super & FIONA a 2003 Ford Focus TDCI. I do use a modern car too which is occasionally featured (It's a Kia) and a van (Fiat) The van can be found on it’s own channel “Rick and Heather Campervanners”
Lee's cars also make occasional appearances as do a few friends cars.

That kia will last you a lifetime cos of the mileage you do😊 my kia pro ceed diesel 2012 is the same, have it 6 year's and i do my own tinkering. Rear brakes, easily doable yourself, though they have shoe's inside the discs which will test your patience 😂
Garage video probably frightens some customers into getting new car's as they see potential problems 🙄 so it's a handy sales tool for them🤔
I've known people who changed their car's when it's due a test and tyres, smugly thinking they've "saved" themselves money 😂

Oh yeah the Kia garage made me laugh one year “your brakes are 25% worn” so i said great 75% left then… it’s a good car definitely no reason to worry yet about changing it
I’m a Hyundai man, last few times I’ve had a i10 with that 998 3cyl engine, they do impress me them little engines , performance wise , don’t know any longer term experience… 😊

I know you did not want to put any 💷 into the Focus but I am very glad that it has transformed it into a delightful daily vehicle.
The Rio isn't bad for an entry vehicle, lots of standard equipment as well as simple climate controls. Nothing worse than modern vehicles integrating HVAC controls into the infotainment system, distracting while driving and potentially dangerous! Not that most people care; since I walk so much, I witness constantly how many people are paying attention to their mobile phone instead of concentrating on driving! 38 mpg for town driving in a 3 cylinder turbo petrol is not bad! Glad you spent Christmas travelling; I'm one of these people who are bah humbug during the holidays, just cannot help it!
45,000 miles on the Kia Venga is low mileage! I wouldn't worry about the key fob until you get the warning in the dash, and it will, as from experience from a 2019 Honda CRV. Now I understand why batteries for new vehicles cost so much: I did not realise you need a good size battery if the vehicle is stop-start, which most new vehicles are today.

My dad's on his second Rio, he quite likes them, but not sure what he will replace it with as our Local Kia Dealer is possibly closing soon.
Glad the tyres are performing well on the Focus.
We have a 2017 rio 3 petrol.
The 3 cylinder engine reponses really well to a re map, goes from 99bhp to 140bhp, for £299 its the best " mod" we have done to ours.
They do (3 cylinder petrols) have a funny " is my exhaust silencer got a hole in it )sound, our old 2013 fiesta ecoboost sounded the same.
Ours has sat nav, heated seats and steering wheel and climate control,and a spare wheel and tyre😮.
Kia do like a dark interior and generally poor ambiant cabin lighting.

Nice looking car the Rio, I didn’t know they still made it, I remember the mk1 Rio there was a blue estate driving around where I lived on Anglesey but never saw another after moving away from there.
Most new petrol’s are 3 cylinder turbo now for emissions sakes, they sound ok actually, like a mini straight six, but yes I agree the car is a bit plasticky inside, nice to see simple dials, I’m not into tekky touch screens etc, haven’t got the patience for them.
Looking forward to hearing about Judith too, would be good to see her again.

Kia automatically sends the video on a service, since filming the Judith video she failed the mot badly on rust…. Oh dear.
@@AgathaAndAnything oh crikey, hope it isn’t terminal, I’m just wondering what my local tester will say to my Rover 45(Ralph) in the new year, there isn’t any obvious rot that I could see when I checked a few months ago but rot has a nasty habit of hiding, which is why I don’t want to spend too much money on it before the MOT.
That’s a good idea your local Kia garage has, it can also cover their backs if they get accused of not carrying out work they said they had done.

I just changecthe battery in the key fob when it stops working, they last way longer than a year.
