I think a better way to compare them is to see how much infrastructure you need to power to sustain your generators. In the end, the power generated is not a net produce, but a gross one.
something very important when comparing power sources, especially to solar panels, is that anything that isn't a solar panel requires logistics. and when you start doing that, the footprint starts to go up
oh yeah, and the differiential generators, unless they were changed in 6.0 have more or less a net power generation loss with how many resources they chew
No, differential generators are good for heavy duty power if you can't bear the cost of an impact reactor. 5 spore pods = 1 spore press = 3 coal centrifuge = 8 pyra mixers = 24 differential generators. 12 cryo mixers needed BTW and a whole lot of water extractors, but even accounting for that it still makes a net gain of 20000 power.
I don’t find the ways of making power on surpulo to be a bad thing for the environment. This is because all biological life was wiped out by the invasive spores and the previous war between Crux and Sharded.

Even though this is 3 years old, there's one important thing to emphasize. This is only a one dimensional comparison, which is pure energy output. But if you are actually going to compare different ways of getting electricity, ther are a lot more things that need to be included. The energy cost for drills to mine required raw materials. The amount of raw materials needed for manufacturing the fuel for the generator. The material cost for all the factories and the energy cost for running them. The space occupied by not just the generator itself, but also the factories, drills and conveyor belts. There are probably a few more, but i can't think of it now.

really I dont think its too expensive. I think its overpowered, actually. almost 6 times more power then precursor, no explosion hazard, small sized and relatively cheap fuel, just a long process to set up. when you make it all other things become completely useless, and power management vanishes because you literally got 6 k of energy. which is enough to power all things. you can argue that its "late game" generator, but really its thorium reactor that is.
I am serious when i say this but people gotta use differential generator more its pretty underrated i feel like it is used not that much because thoroum reactors are just easier and barely produce less. Show differential generator some love guys Edit: yea i see why thorium reactor is better its causs it only needs thorium and barely is under Differential while differential needs pyratitw which is annoying to makw so yea dont uss differential thoroum reactor is bettee cayse it only needs thorium

It's cheaper but at some point the impact gen is just too good and way more compact
You can also use overdrive to procude more power
i allways tough it was lava and didint know you could pump it, till i saw someone pump from it into a seperator.
A friend asked me once "how many solar panels to power a impact?" I think it's around 200.
Amount of generators needed to match impact reactor power output
Impact: 1
Thorium: 7
Lpanels: 81
Diffrential: 6
Steam: 19
RTG: 23
Solar panels: 1050
Combustion: 105
Thermal: 29

With steam/combustion generators, different materials have different multipliers, spore is better than coal for example

Hi
Thermal generators are very good, and you can get 56k power from 2 airblast drill using the RTG gen everything is boosted by 150% overdrive
