Nothing wrong to lift weights while doing muay thai, even if u do powerlifting or purely bodybuilding workouts. I believe as long as u still balance on keeping your conditioning on point which counts with jump roping, running, shadow boxing and bag work etc, you'll be fine. Also to always stretch too as well so you wont be tight. You can always do one week of purely weights and then another week purely on conditioning for muay thai or other sport that relies on alot on cardio
cani do both one in morning one in evening
If you box, do muay thai, and or kickboxing I would say yes within reason and purpose lift weights, fighters usually lift what they don't do is do it for hypertrophy aka muscle growth and size. They're not body builders they're fighters so they lift for the fight.
Nothing wrong to still do some hypertrophy training, as long as they still balance their conditioning well along with it
Heavy lifting works but it fries your cns
@@mike90susanoo84 Depends on what your goals are. If you're a recreational practitioner training Muay Thai 2-3 times per week & want to round off your physique, it's generally okay. If you're aiming to compete at a serious level, you'll want to keep hypertrophy-oriented training to a minimum, for bigger muscles require more oxygen & energy to move vigorously.
In a nutshell, every choice has a consequence you must weigh.
This is a very good breakdown, covering the reasons of why one should and shouldn't strength train/ how often when doing Muay Thai.
In my story, I'm more of the bodybuilding powerlifting background, but as of this week I have finally decided to enter the Muay Thai world.
Complete beginner, nothing competitive.
So my current split is Monday Wednesday and Friday strength training.
Tuesday and Thursday Muay Thai.
exactly the same here. How's it going for you so far? Are you able to keep the balance? and how is your recovery?
@@BigThapelo it's already been 5 months that I've dove into Muay Thai. I've lost some size in arms / legs . The high aerobic /dynamic output is higher than what I normally would have expended in just doing bodybuilding/ power lifting style . I'm also in a cutting phase due to summer. I'll ramp up cals later in the fall and see if I can gain some size back.
I'm keeping a 3 day split currently. Haven't trained both styles back to back yet .
Years of BB squats / DL has not done my roundhouse kicks any favors.
Hip flexors are still tight -And that's even with morning mobility ritual that I've kept in regime for 3+ years now.
I'd be performing much worse otherwise.
Recovery is more challenging on days that I do a MT class when having trained legs the day before.
I'm still tweaking the training program on my end with the best training modalities /sets/ reps that work for me .
That guy in the right in the thumbnail looked like Allistair Overeem and Buakaw did a fusion
Please make a video on Which weight lifting exercise are beneficial for Muay thai.
Good idea!
Actually several videos about workouts already here
Лучше побольше спаррингов, работа по специальности что называется ✌️
All the compounds . Deadlift , press , squats , clean , snatches
I recognize that gym before the credits! That was Lion Muay Thai in Phuket 8 years ago.

@@FightvisionNet the wall came down the following year. That was when I went back. Good times!
