UPDATE: I am in the making a video comparing the drying speeds of the Shelandy and the Shernbao and noticed that the Shelandy is listed as 3.2 HP instead of 3.8, I can still find it listed in some places as 3.8 but the majority now say 3.2, at the time of making this video this information was difficult to find as it wasn’t as readily available as the other dryers. But I believe now that the Shelandy is actually 3.2 HP 😊 sorry for any confusion.
I have a Samoyed and I learned with my dog Charlie that a blow dryer is a good thing to have when you're trying to dry a dog with a double coat. Not only does he get dry, the blow dryer will also help remove the loose undercoat. That also saves hours upon hours of brushing to do the same thing. I've found out that using shop vacuum does pretty well in blowing Charlie's coat dry after a bath, but I'm looking for something more powerful to get the job done.
It will definitely make a huge difference for a Samoyed! I know firsthand what a good blow dryer can get out in terms of coat release, be prepared for a snowstorm 😆 if you want suggestions for budget ones I’d definitely go with the Shernbao or the flying pig. Both of those would definitely get the job done and are great prices! The blow dryer will be your best deshedding tool by far 😊
I have a 7lb yorkie and a 90lb Giant Schnauzer, who tends to have some slight hair shed around the house. Which dryer would you recommend to take car of both dogs? Thanks for the help!
Honestly you can’t go wrong with either the shelandy or the Shernbao. Either one will do the trick, but if you opt for the Shernbao you’ll have to turn the dial down so it’s not as powerful for the little yorkie! But it’s very functional since it’s adjustable.
You’re very welcome! The shelandy will definitely work still. It will just take longer. I’d say the best plan of action is to work on getting the dogs bulk of coat a good 80-90% dry then work on sections to straighten out. Otherwise it will be harder to straighten since it will start to air dry. But it’s got a lot of good heat power so it definitely can work for you!
Both are excellent choices! Since your pups coats are curly both are heated so they will get them to have a nice blowout. I’d say if you’re looking to save a buck, shelandy is the way to go, it’s powerful enough for both guys size and coats but if you want something that’s a bit sturdier and willing to spend the extra money I’d splurge on the flying pig for sure. I believe it’s on sale currently as well, if that’s true I’d opt for the flying pig! Oh and I should say if hose size means anything to you (it can cause some sore hands and wrists) then shelandy is smaller and much easier to hold. I find it’s quite easy on the wrists. So pros and cons for both depending on what works best for you!
I appreciate all the responses you give to everyone. I was wondering which you’d prefer for a small standard poodle puppy that will eventually be 25-35 pounds. I want one that she can grow into but I can still use it now. I was thinking Flying Pig or shernbao but I like the price of the Shelandy. Would the Shelandy work for her as an adult?
The shelandy absolutely can still be a great choice. In fact because of the heat it produces it would work well for straightening out a poodle coat! Since it’s a dial switch as well you can turn the air flow down low while getting her adjusted as a young dog. I’d say go for it if you want to save some money!
@@GoFetchDogGroomingwow thank you so much for your response. That was so quick and SO helpful. I will be buying that one for my little girl. I appreciate your help so much and this was such a great video. New subscriber ☺️
You’re so sweet ❤️ Thank you so much! Any questions or even if you are curious about anything feel free to reach out, I always do my best to answer and if necessary can always make a video on the topic if it requires demonstration. 🙂
I've also had that Sherbao for about 3 years for 2 huskies. It's holding up great! I even used it instead of the blowers at a dog wash because it was stronger! Now... Which attachment would you say is best for my huskies?
Either would be a good choice! The Shernbao is definitely more powerful and will work faster but the heating element of the shelandy will straighten out the coat better, so it depends if you value time or a better finish 😆 but I will say that if you are interested the shelandy is on sale for prime day right now if that sways your opinion 😊
I’d go with the shelandy for this, you don’t need a whole lot of power (although the shelandy is still quite good!) but the heat will really help get it dried quickly and help straighten it as well. Plus its nice that it’s the cheapest option as well 😉
Big dog like a Rottie? I’d go for one with more power, the Shernbao might be a good choice since it will get the job done in a good amount of time. The flying pig would also work well if you’re looking for something a bit more durable! 🙂
Main differences would be: speed, heat and forced air power. So a high velocity dryer (dog dryers) will be able to get a dog dry much faster than a human hair dryer, so not only does it save you (and the dog!) time drying but it also helps dry curly coats faster so that they don’t dry in a curly state, in terms of heating it’s typically less than a human hair dryer, but if you put the human dryer on cool it will likely not be as warm as a pet dryer (think somewhere in between), and finally the forced air power, a dog dryer uses forced air much stronger than a human dryer that pushes water from the skin down and out of the hair shaft, because of this it does a couple things. It forces shedding hair and dander outwards as well, so it helps to reduce shedding by forcing out any loose hairs that might be otherwise trapped. The second thing it does is help with curly or wavy coats, because of the force and the warm air it helps straighten out the shaft by drying it in that straight position, this also helps with potential tangles since it allows you not only to see down to the skin but separates the hairs allowing potential tangles to be “blown out” that if otherwise left to dry curly would likely form a bigger knot or allows you to see problematic areas that need your attention for brushing. A lot of groomers use these dryers to help separate the coats to see matted areas while brushing. Sorry I know that’s a lot of information! 😆 essentially if you have a yorkie or a Maltese, or any small straight coated dog you could get away with a human hair dryer at home (although many people upgrade for the sheer speed and ease of using a dog dryer) but any other type of coat greatly benefits from the use of an hv dog dryer. Shedding dogs and curly or wavy coats in particular. So if you bath a shedding dog, now you have loosened coat that is either left to fall out on its own or is unable to fall out on thicker coated breeds. So I guess the answer is it depends on the breed you own if it’s worth the investment!❤️ I will also note a lot of pet stores that have bathing stations are really cheap and have dog dryers there so you could go that route if you wanted to try it out or just skip purchasing your own! 😊
Personally since he’s a mini I’d go with the flying pig, Shernbao may be a bit too strong but if used on a lower setting still would work. I’d consider one of those two depending on what you were looking to spend 😊
Since poms are little, you don’t want a ton of force. I’d check out the shelandy! It’s got enough power to blow coat, but it won’t be so strong for a pup with some little bones. Plus it’s got the option of using heat to really dry the coat as well. 😊
I use the Shernbao Typhoon Dual Motor! But if I could afford it I would definitely love to have the K9 III, that is just an absolute powerhouse. If you have a smaller dog though, it could be too powerful! The smaller Shernbao would do a great job for a deshed on a smaller pup!
@@GoFetchDogGrooming Would you purchase the High/Low or the Variable speed. I've got a GP, Bernese Mtn,. Golden and a Anatolian. Plus others that aren't thick coats.
I’d always go variable! It’s so much more versatile, you can turn it down even on the same dog for areas they don’t love to have blowdried. Just gives so much more options.

Wow! That’s great! Glad to hear it held up to well! I’d go with a round (the circular) attachment that will help blow out undercoat really well 😊
@@GoFetchDogGrooming thank you! I'll test that out tonight. My younger pup is blowing giant snowballs of fur right now.

I’d definitely go with the more powerful Shernbao! It will help blow out all that shedding hair. 😁

I would try out the shelandy since the heat is really good, it would help straighten out a curly bichon coat. 🙂❤️

So I have a mini Australian shepherd and it’s shedding season and he’s 3 1/2 months. I’m not quite sure what he’ll need for a dryer
