I think this decade is a mixed bag. On one hand it has my favorite top 3 Sonic games in terms of gameplay (Generations, Forces, Colors) and my favorite 2D game (Fire & Ice). Lost World was okay too. On the other hand a big chunk of it got wasted on Boom and the end of it is a complete drough. Too much nostalgia pandering and bland stories made this decade not memorable. My biggest wish for the next decade is to make it memorable. Memorable stories, memorable games. The second wish is no drought, more quantity. The third is not relying on nostalgia. Like 00s, but with pureness of 10s.

@@_lemon52 I need to replay Sonic Colors. I remember Asteroid Coaster sounding like an SA2 Sonic stage (which was one of my favorite musical styles. Terminal Velocity Act 1 though sounds like a love letter to the later SA1 stages like Sky Deck Act 2 or Final Egg Act 2. I really *really* wish the composers within Sonic team could revisit these styles in a future game, as Sonic's stages in Forces just sound cheap like the Sonic Runners mobile game more than anything and we're overdue for some more of that fusion rock that makes Sonic _Sonic._

This decade has been so far disappointing for me as a Sonic fan.... pretty much all the games after Colors were just nostalgia pandering BS... to be honest the only games from this decade that are good are Sonic Racing Transformed, Colors, Generations, and Mania the rest arent bad.... there just average....
the 2010s looks like it's nostalgia pandering, rushed, uninspired, overly self aware, and look like a terribly simple childish comedy that tried way hard to be cool. Only 3-4 games are good for its mechanics and level design.

Gameplay for Colors, Gens and Mania were great, stories were complete shit (especially Lost World and Forces) everything else was either mediocre or bad, the 2020s seem to be starting strong with the Sonic movie being very successful, overall the 2010s was pretty bleh
1991-1999: Half a decade of pure bliss, followed by half a decade of either nothing or just god awful side games, before capping off on a evolutionary high note. 2000-2009: Started strong and managed to release gems that are now held in high esteem, but pumped out TOO much and became too experimental, ultimately sacrificing quality over quantity and ruining the franchise’s reputation. 2010-2019: Reached some strong highs and appealed to larger groups of fans, but suffered from a lack of content and the occasional fall, as well as alienating 2000s fans for its focus on humor and appealing to the 1990s crowd. Overall, EVERY Sonic decade has its ups and downs, and I feel the 2020s will be no different. We’ll all still be there for the highs though, and that’s what’s important.

I agree with most of the list, but I personally mark Forces as bad. Not Boom bad, but I actually hate Forces worse than Boom. Boom failed its potential spectacularly, but Forces didn't have potential with its foundation to begin with, just a wet fart of a "boost" title compared to Unleashed, Colors, and Generations.

Lemon yeah I feel that. After 06 they completely shafted the side characters. And they have been so afraid to use them since. Which I personally loved all of the side characters and even the differing gameplay styles Like silver, tails in adventure one, knuckles and rouge stages in sa2. I was jus a big fan of side characters in general and it feels like now a days sega is to scared to even touch them. Like you said they feel like they have a lack of creativity. In the “dark ages” they would experiment and try new things get there feet wet. But now they are so scared to mess up we get bland and boring games like forces and lost world. It was an embarrassment for Sonic as a big AAA Gaming series and they were a mistake, yeah yeah Gens has some good things but it's not good, not fun anymore. There's reasons I go back to the 2000s games and only have Zero Gravity for Wii.
This decade was downright pathetic. It started off with overblown nostalgia pandering and playing safe, and ended like that, choking on itself. There isn't a single game from it that I enjoyed. Sonic 4 was garbage. Colors is the kickstarter to all the lies and nonsensical praise over garbage content and gameplay. Everything that came after was defined by this pathetic lousy Wii game, that was made because Sonic Team couldn't port Generations over. Generations was.....a wet fart, uninteresting, lazily put together, literally kept alive only by mods. Lost World is the embodiment of everything wrong from this decade, and the first crack in the lies. Boom was the much needed ringing bell to Forces' wake up call. And Mania was yet another overbloated, toxicly self-congratulatory nostalgia rehash. Besides, look at how so many little games have been churned out over 10 years when compared to the 2000s. For every ShTH, Secret Rings or 06, there was still a Rush or Rush Adventure or Riders Zero Gravity. Now even spin-offs are scarce and they suck. We don't have either quantity or quality. Hell, people are genuinely convinced that a flimsy Smurfs rip-off was the best videogame movie ever made (it wasn't horrid, but it wasn't exactly the best thing ever people).
Everyone says the 2000's were the dark age but for me, the dark age is the 2010's. Sorry but I actually really liked the games in the "dark age". Thankfully with the movies and other news, it looks like Sonic is finally getting out of it and will have a bright future. Hopefully.

I love that Sonic Lost World is slower and more focused on platforming. Reminds me more of a Mario game and Mario games are way better than Sonic games, so the closer they get to that the better as far as I am concerned.

Reach for the stars represents sega as a whole. For better or for worse. Jokes aside, the 2000s really were the peak years for sonic, I still feel that adventure was a confused mess of a game, the sequel had more non sonic content than sonic content and the non sonic stuff wasn't even fun and heroes was decent. Not that I hate those games by any means but if there's anything sega should do it isn't the adventure format because it's a seriously flawed format. Here's to a new decade for sega.
Your opinion SA1 nailed 3D Sonic and created a cute yet deeper story with what Sonic 3 established, Amy is fine I just wished her acceleration was better, Big is fine for me even if it's not what I want from a Sonic game SA2 had the best story for how much ambition it had and how well it succeeded with it (06 or Unleashed had ambitions too if not more yet they didn't succeed that well for one dumb reason or another) The game nailed shooting and exploration gameplays and all of these stages includes the use of speed and a certain flow, they're still "Sonic stuff" to me because it respects the core idea of the series while creating something new,fun and satisfying with it, I like variety and evolution in the franchise, something that's lacking especially when Mania is considered the best for doing the old stuff again but whatever I like controlling other characters than Sonic especially when the franchise is so diverse in terms of them, the 2D games did it so why not the 3D ones

Sonic Forces : There's a Sanic t-shirt in this game, just that. It's all of the worst of the 2010s in one game and if I had to explain why I despise this game and consider it the worst by far in the mainline games, i'd be here all day
Sonic 1 2 CD remaster : It's the originals but better, harmless and cool

Sonic and Sega All stars racing transformed : Very great even if Riders was more unique
Sonic Boom games : I don't want to remember this, un necessary, feels like a totally different project with Sonic characters slapped on it

Lemon yeah I feel that. After 06 they completely shafted the side characters. And they have been so afraid to use them since. Which I personally loved all of the side characters and even the differing gameplay styles
Like silver, tails in adventure one, knuckles and rouge stages in sa2. I was jus a big fan of side characters in general and it feels like now a days sega is to scared to even touch them. Like you said they feel like they have a lack of creativity. In the “dark ages” they would experiment and try new things get there feet wet. But now they are so scared to mess up we get bland and boring games like forces and lost world. They literally did the bare minimum in both those games.
Lemon Ik sega is struggling financially so they can’t give sonic the proper treatment he deserves with all the side games like they used to but it feels like they don’t even try

It was an embarrassment for Sonic as a big AAA Gaming series and they were a mistake, yeah yeah Gens has some good things but it's not good, not fun anymore. There's reasons I go back to the 2000s games and only have Zero Gravity for Wii.
This decade was downright pathetic. It started off with overblown nostalgia pandering and playing safe, and ended like that, choking on itself. There isn't a single game from it that I enjoyed. Sonic 4 was garbage. Colors is the kickstarter to all the lies and nonsensical praise over garbage content and gameplay. Everything that came after was defined by this pathetic lousy Wii game, that was made because Sonic Team couldn't port Generations over. Generations was.....a wet fart, uninteresting, lazily put together, literally kept alive only by mods. Lost World is the embodiment of everything wrong from this decade, and the first crack in the lies. Boom was the much needed ringing bell to Forces' wake up call. And Mania was yet another overbloated, toxicly self-congratulatory nostalgia rehash.
Besides, look at how so many little games have been churned out over 10 years when compared to the 2000s. For every ShTH, Secret Rings or 06, there was still a Rush or Rush Adventure or Riders Zero Gravity. Now even spin-offs are scarce and they suck. We don't have either quantity or quality. Hell, people are genuinely convinced that a flimsy Smurfs rip-off was the best videogame movie ever made (it wasn't horrid, but it wasn't exactly the best thing ever people).

Everyone says the 2000's were the dark age but for me, the dark age is the 2010's. Sorry but I actually really liked the games in the "dark age".

they are losing hope on Sonic and i think in my opinion that SEGA need to stop focusing on Sonic and let him rest for at least. . .5 or 10 more years until they say they are ready (AND I MEAN READY) and focusing more on the other many franchises they did't make it after the death of the Dreamcast

I love that Sonic Lost World is slower and more focused on platforming. Reminds me more of a Mario game and Mario games are way better than Sonic games, so the closer they get to that the better as far as I am concerned.

Jokes aside, the 2000s really were the peak years for sonic, I still feel that adventure was a confused mess of a game, the sequel had more non sonic content than sonic content and the non sonic stuff wasn't even fun and heroes was decent. Not that I hate those games by any means but if there's anything sega should do it isn't the adventure format because it's a seriously flawed format.

SA1 nailed 3D Sonic and created a cute yet deeper story with what Sonic 3 established, Amy is fine I just wished her acceleration was better, Big is fine for me even if it's not what I want from a Sonic game
SA2 had the best story for how much ambition it had and how well it succeeded with it (06 or Unleashed had ambitions too if not more yet they didn't succeed that well for one dumb reason or another)
The game nailed shooting and exploration gameplays and all of these stages includes the use of speed and a certain flow, they're still "Sonic stuff" to me because it respects the core idea of the series while creating something new,fun and satisfying with it, I like variety and evolution in the franchise, something that's lacking especially when Mania is considered the best for doing the old stuff again but whatever
I like controlling other characters than Sonic especially when the franchise is so diverse in terms of them, the 2D games did it so why not the 3D ones
