This kind of emptiness & endlessness is exactly what I'd like most forest in game to be. It's also what I thought the woods in Twilight Princess would be.
Same here! Ever since they showed off a forest like that in the trailer, I was hoping for a kind of forest area like that. BotW came _kinda_ close but still didn't quite scratch that itch.
@MrFoxInc I can’t believe it’s not just me. I was so excited about a forest area ever since that moment in the trailer when he jump attacks that enemy in the woods, but I was so bummed that we never got that area or anything like it since
@@MrFoxInc I'm totally onboard with what you're saying, as I've similarly felt the same when it came to the photos of Rayman 4's forest areas. Unfortunately, I think it's impossible practically speaking. I hate to say it, but that beta forest area from the Twilight Princess trailers is probably just as barren and empty as the Lost Woods seen in the above video. Basically, it's your imagination at work that's making you really want to explore the forest. No matter how you develop a forest that resembles the beta Twilight Princess one, it will never live up to your expectations once players start running into barriers that block off exploration and walk into loading zones that warp them out of the forest. Perhaps this feeling could be recaptured in a Lost Woods setting sort of like how it was in Breath of the Wild, except instead of the woods fading to white and warping you back at the start, it will simply procedurally generate the same forest mapping again and again until the player walks the correct path or turns around and to leave...
Back in the day i had the trailer for TP on a promotional dvd and I probably watched it a million times. I especially loved the scene of Link on Epona walking slowly through the woods. When I finally played Shadow of the Colossus and I ventured into the forest in that game, i thought to myself that i wanted TPs lost woods to be like that. Deep, mysterious, dark, hauntingly empty, and ancient. I was let down by the final product. It taught me a lesson about not hyping myself up
@@UndertakerU2ber You're totally right and as a designer myself, I know there's a big difference between "what a customer thinks they want" and "what they actually _do_ want (even if they don't realize it)" - so like you're saying, a Lost Woods like the one we're hoping for simply can't exist. I really like your idea though, it feels a lot like the Lost Woods in the first Zelda! That would be a cool callback to that.
Fun story, this is exactly how it felt when I played Majora's Mask for the first time, and it was one of my first videogames ever, so I was very little. I also used to think Ocarina and Majora were the same game, so I have mixed memories that are my personal treasure, like even stuff that isn't in the game, but that my innocent imagination produced.
I quite like how the forest at the start of Majora's Mask looks. It is so mysterious. It is also crazy how you showed that they didn't actually separate the Happy Mask Salesman from the bag on his back, but actually used two HMS models and had one model lying on the ground and the other is used for just the bag.
Really cool! I wish this was a proper area in a Zelda game. Imagine exploring it and then eventually coming across something like at 1:43. That would be terrifying. (Also brilliant idea by the developers to just duplicate the Happy Masks Salesman and put one copy in the ground, making it look like they separated the model)
I used to dream of exploring the Lost Woods in OoT and Majora's Mask, and WW's Sunken Hyrule too. I used to think, "surely, there are pathways I can find that'll take me to distant lands." There incapacitated Masked salesmen scene is kind of cool. They positioned the camera so we couldn't see his smiling face, which in itself is really sinister. Maybe he is actually a really nice guy in a crisis? That last hidden map with Epona, the Skullkid being there is for no particular reason is just... as the kiddos put it: _sus._
The mods for Majora’s mask and Oot will be at an all time high soon, I know it. There is so much potential in what we’ve already been seeing with custom mods.
This brings me back to when I bought my first GameShark on N64 years ago. As a kid I would always imagine what was beyond the game's boundaries and spent days using levitate cheats trying to find hidden secrets or content beyond the limits of the game. There was something mysterious and even a little creepy being somewhere you weren't supposed to see.
Man a great video idea you could do for a series is a "boundary break" on Majora's Mask 3d and explore what the game doesn't intend you to see, I think people would be really interested and we'd love to hear your voice again 🙂
I do plan on exploring more cutscenes at some point! I've not actually used my voice for any video haha. If you mean on the Link is not dead video, then it's actually voiced by another Zeltuber named RMFH. I might try to voice some of my videos at some point, I just need to get a good microphone.
@@Majoranator That would definitely be cool and makes sense, either way you’re putting in the work and pioneering new content beyond your channels foundation and it’s great to see😎! If you ever need any good mic recommendations on a budget feel free to ask anytime 🙂
It's a mod that I got from someone else in 2019 which was put onto the Citra Emulator. Unfortunately, they are not taking any requests at the moment and they don't want to make the camera tool public.

Now this emptiness and endlessness really does feel like the lost woods

Ok this is way better than tunnels and whatnot and wow is it terrifyingly unsettling

This explains why there are so many Stalfos. Anyone that gets lost becomes a Stalfos and it’s easy to get lost.
This is awesome! It really captures that feeling of anybody being capable of getting lost in the "Lost Woods"
Now the name “lost woods” makes sense
Thanks a lot for doing this kind of stuff and sharing it, it's refreshing seeing new content about your favorite game, not an everyday thing ❤

Reminiscent of the Beta Lost Woods cut from OOT
I wish i was younger and i got lost in this kind of woods forever
i always wished we can play in this area
I love this kind of stuff.
*pretentious comment about an area meant to be seen by the player for 10 seconds
marvelous work king
This is so cool
How is that possible?
Anyway, this definitely shows how far away the Hero of Time really is from Hyrule at the start and ending of the game.
Now we need a whole level in this forest
Spooky!
Your videos was pretty amazing and I wanna ask can you do tutorial how to enable free camera from the cinematic videos you did

I just love N64 romhacks so fucking much!
Hey can you explore ganon's castle mid-collapse? There used to be a n64 video of it where they stopped it mid-cutscene and walked around.
I will definitely do Ocarina of Time exploration at some point in the future!
And that's when Sarah met Ben...
literally crying rn
Looks neat🌟
Liminal ahhh space
Why is it so cozy
I love thiss
pretty dope
how are u getting to this map, is there a debug 3ds rom? or just cheats
I use an emulator called Citra and I use cheat codes to make the game put Link into this area.
@@Majoranator would you mind sharing those cheats by any chance? 👀
@@AyeeKyro It would probably be easier to explain on DM, do you have Discord or are on any Zelda Discord servers?
Man I wish they had this for the Switch that would be so cool, but I guess not.
how do you get all this footage like genuinely curious
I play on an Emulator called Citra.
Wow how did you manage to do that on 3Ds?
It's on an emulator called Citra.
how u did that? u are programmer or smthing?

Funnily enough, that's actually the next video I'm working on, exploring the end credit cutscenes.
Is it possible to explore the moon falling cutscene ? I’m tryna see that lol
I will definitely explore other cutscenes in the future!
