I was stationed there from 1964 to 1968. Here I am 52 years later and my grand children attended one of the parades. We watched it together on this site and I still tear up when they post the colors.
I teared up a little when I first saw this. Not too proud to say I teared up a 2nd time too when I saw again the first part again... Heck, I know where my allegiance is. These FINE gentlemen are spectacular to watch. The care... the respect...the dignity and pride portrayed by their very execution of presenting these colors is awesome to watch. Don't believe me--- see 01:08 of the video and just LOOK at the precision JUST to get off of the grass. That's what I'm talking about... Sets apart the boys/girls from the Men/Women Marines entrusted with such act. Flawless...
I am currently doing a "mock" color guard in a play portraying sailors and marines during WWII. If they did this M1 during WWII I might incorporate this in our play. Being prior service myself I want to do it right and teach these actors to portray the color guard well.
+JOhn Lucca Dang how big is your unit???? we have about a hundred or so and we are still a NNDCC (a step below from a NJROTC) but October 2016, we will hopefully become an official NJROTC
The guy carrying the American flag was by then sergeant Spreder, now a gunnery sergeant and chieff drill instructor ar MCRDPI. He was my senior drill imstructor.
You're a Grand Old Flag, The National Anthem, and the Trio section to the National Emblem March. The first two were played by The President's Own and the last by The Commendant's Own.
Your service is deeply appreciated thanks for everything you do take care best wishes to all the branches who serve us proud to be American thanks take care. Joe
I currently do high school color guard (yes, the flag-spinning type), but I’m hoping to someday do military guard to represent the colors of the nation. God bless America.
Hola no sé si alguien más hable español pero quisiera hacer una pregunta, ¿por qué algunos marines usan pantalón blanco y otros usan pantalon azul con franjas rojas?
Right Rifle Guard has his hands on the wrong place. Present Arms with Rifle is always Left Hand gripping the Balance Stock and the Right Hand on the Small of Stock. Left Rifle Guard has it correct though that was a most unusual way of going from Left Shoulder Arms to Present Arms. Why not both of them go into proper Port Arms first?
It is "You're a Grand Old Flag" and I have the lyrics thereof for you. They are as follows: You're a grand old flag, you're a high-flying flag and forever in peace may you wave! You're the emblem of the land I love, the home of the free and the brave. Every heart beats true under red, white and blue, where there's never a boast or brag. But should auld acquaintance be forgot? Keep your eye on the grand old flag!

Caleb Overbo Thnx. What do you mean by the depends on the color sergeant? Like if the color sergeant is 5'6 then everyone else need to be 5'6 or something like that? Or do you mean the color sergeant makes the policy?
What is the song they are playing at the retirement of the colors? Does anybody know? Thanks so much, would like to see if local band can play it at an event. 🇺🇸🦅💪

Hey, their feet are together, too. Oh, it's because they do things differently in Washington, DC.
What is the name of the music that plays as the color guard retires the colors off the parade field after the National Anthem??
National Emblem March
It is "You're a Grand Old Flag" and I have the lyrics thereof for you.
They are as follows:
You're a grand old flag, you're a high-flying flag
and forever in peace may you wave!
You're the emblem of the land I love,
the home of the free and the brave.
Every heart beats true under red, white and blue,

what's the minimum height to bcvome a color guard? like 6'6 or something?
No. Technically there is no minimum height.
Um so untechnically, what's the minimum height? I'm sure you can't be 4'5
You have to be a similar height to everybody else.
It's 6'2 as of right now (depends on the color sergeant) just arrived at 8th and I last month for color guard
Caleb Overbo Thnx. What do you mean by the depends on the color sergeant? Like if the color sergeant is 5'6 then everyone else need to be 5'6 or something like that? Or do you mean the color sergeant makes the policy?

National Emblem
God bless this Nation.
I love color ❤guard
whats the name of the song when they're posting the colors ?
Hello! It is the Trio section of National Emblem March by E.E. Bagley.
The rifle two count salute..and order arms.. can that be done for all Marine Corps color guard or is that only for this particular detail?
Knightart1977 it’s specific to them. The rest of us do it differently.
Knightart1977 only the color guard at MBW is allowed the mirrored present arms
8th and I does ceremonial drill. Every drill movement they execute has an extra count added to it.
