I lived in San Diego from 1981 until 2018 when I retired and moved to the mountains of Arizona. I LOVED going to (then) NAS Miramar (Top Gun) for the yearly shows, and then to the Marine Corp air shows after that. I worked for a while at a hospital down the Fwy from there and would love it when the Blue Angels would roar overhead prior to the shows to drum up business. From 1986 until retirement in 2017 I worked at Grossmont hospital in La Mesa and didn't get to hear them as much when they flew overhead. Still, one of the great military air shows! Of course, going down to the Midway air craft carrier museum is pretty good fun too!

We've had harriers -- A-models and B-models -- to watch at air shows for a half-century! The do get to be familiar.
