      I disagree it's overrated now. It went downhill after season 4 In my eyes. 5 wasn't bad but worse, 6 was bad 7 was good Tho.

      Season 8 was definitely the worse. After Season 7, which I thoroughly enjoyed, I expected S8 to be just as good but was a huge let down.

    Episode 713 is probably the most emotional episode in the series, which is saying something since this whole series is an emotional rollercoaster. Also the VA for Pear Butter also voices Betty from Adventure Time, so this is technically the second most tragic love story she's voiced

    Episodes:
    12- More Discord and Fluttershy interactions.
    13- One of the best examples of a tragic romance.
    14- A fun fandom episode.
    15- Ember and Thorax have an interesting dynamic
    16- Backstories.
    17- Interesting changeling lore.
    18- Cabaleron has returned.

      I don't like the message of "to change a changeling"
      Throughout human history strength has come from social bonds. Men who bond on a strong emotional level like in a labor union, a church or in a platoon have always been the thing protecting civilization. Fear is not something that can go away, what can happen though is that you have a devotion greater than fear and with how strongly the changelings are bonding I can see them have that.
      This is what MLP usually does have with the elements being the source of power. Friendship has also been the source of strength for humans and still is today. Workers by themselves are weak but in a union they are strong.
      If Phyranx had mostly been pointing out they were too complacent in their euphoria of being free from Chrysalis I think the episode would have worked a lot better. That they make it not about the changelings being sissy but about them being too carried away and forgetting their own history.

    I actually kind of like the idea and I think it fits the changelings as they are very emotionally driven creatures.

    And this is the feelings forum working. Talking about their feelings and views to allow the others to gain an understanding where they are coming from.

    Honestly, Flawless is probably my favorite song in the show outside of villain songs. And it even beats out some of those.
    Edit: Also, Somnambula is best Pillar in the comics.

    • @CinemaSongscovers
      @CinemaSongscovers ปีที่แล้ว

      The only villain songs I'm aware of are This Day Aria from the season 2 finale and Better Way To Be Bad from the episode Frienemies in season 9.
      I guess you could include the Flim Flam Brothers' songs in seasons 2, 4, and 8 (Cider, Tonic, Friendship U). Though they're more just antagonists instead of actual villains.
      And I'm not including Glass of Water by Discord. (I don't like that one, and it was after his reformation anyway)

    • @ChiropteraNightfall
      @ChiropteraNightfall ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CinemaSongscovers There are the Equestria Girls villain songs, This Day Aria, Better Way to be Bad, Snowfall Frost's song, the second song in Crusaders of the Lost Mark half counts, being a two party song involving the Crusaders and Diamond Tiara before all the fun reformation business in that episode.
      I think there might be one or two others? But those are all I can think of right now off the top of my head, and they're all great. And I don't really count the Flim Flam songs either. Partly because they're more antagonists than villains, and partly because they never feel like villain songs.

    • @CinemaSongscovers
      @CinemaSongscovers ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ChiropteraNightfall I didn't even think about Say Goodbye To the Holiday.
      I did consider the EG villain songs, but they're, technically, separate from the main show.
      I wasn't considering Pony I Want To Be or Light of Your Cutie Mark either.
      But Diamond Tiara is more like Flim Flam, antagonistic, but not exactly a villain.

    • @ChiropteraNightfall
      @ChiropteraNightfall ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CinemaSongscovers Pony I Want to Be and Light of Your Cutie Mark are sung during Tiara's redemption, I was talking about the election song. And I'd argue Tiara is more a villain than the Flim Flam Brothers, given she does most of her harm out of malice where Flim and Flam just want money without the work. She's a minor villain. Maybe teetering on the edge of mere antagonist status.
      While the Equestria Girls movies are separate enough from the main show to be ignored if one wants to, they are- at least up to the second movie- canon by way of the backstory of the Pillars.
      Also I forgot Open Up Your Eyes, the song from Tempest.

      I’m reading the comics and I really like Star Swirl in Reflections. He’s a lot goofier but also more eccentric, smart and somehow still more commanding/intimidating than in the show. Just a really well done character.

    Flawless is definitely one of my favorites. In my honest opinion, it has about the best, if not the best, message to it.
    It's like the chorus of the song says.
    "We're not flawless. We are works in progress."
    (and I think I may have just quoted Applegeek right there)

    The new changelings though feel small. In the past they felt like a much larger tribe, like numbering in the tens of thousands while new they seem a few hundred at most.

    Not necessarily. Usually people who bond with each other on such an intimate level are some of the fiercest warriors you will ever find. They have incredibly strong bonds and they are willing to fight and even die to protect them. Throughout human history strength has always come from social bonds, not from individual ferocity.
    In the US WW2 was the height of American socialism with the largest strike in US history being in 1946 when the corporations wanted to return wages to pre-war levels. However many of the workers had just come from facing Japanese kamikaze attacks and German machine gun fire so they weren't intimidated by their bosses at all. They all had shared similar horrors during the war so they all could bond on that level.
    The most bold protests against the US government were the hippies of the 1960's which the changelings are based on. Even the BLM protests of 2020 didn't come close to the hippie protests.

    • @tnc7399
      @tnc7399 ปีที่แล้ว

      To be fair the BLM protests were riots and led to a lot of destruction, counter to what their entire point was. The Hippies were peaceful, and they fought with it

      But also a feelings circle is a real thing and actually requires a lot of courage to do cause you are with a group and to be open about your emotions and also to show respect to the emotions of others is a difficult thing.
      I don't at all agree though that emotional vulnerability implies a lack of strength. Strength usually comes from friendship and actually Thorax has shown this before. Thorax might be sensitive and empathetic but when his friends are in danger he won't hesitate to use all his power and put himself in danger to protect them. But you can't have friends without opening yourself up emotionally.
      This is a very toxic message that is unfortunately very common. That emotional vulnerability and badassery are mutually exclusive while in reality one usually leads to another. I kind of would have liked if Phyranx had been shown wrong and that the new changelings fight with a level of coordination and courage that he wouldn't have expected because they trust and understand each other so well and because they are all willing to protect each other no matter what.
