    A couple weeks ago I was racing with everything checked and turned all the way up. I realized something was seriously wrong when my wheel would rotate on its own when I was not moving. I've been messing with the settings a bit, but now I feel like I really have it toned in.
    Thank you

    I've used that Wheelcheck tool before together with LUT generator to setup my G29 in Assetto Corsa. It completely changed the feel of ffb (in positive way) like I would spend much more money for new wheel. Pure magic :)

    Got my fanatec wheel setup using this method I had the linear test display deltaX numbers at 50 (.5 in iracing menu) same thing with min force test (-.5) recommended ffb for mx-5 global was 26.2 and i have 0 damper on the wheel itself and iracing menu and re-ran tsukuba after everything was said and done was able to obtain a 1.04.6 w/ the stock mx-5 global setup truly a believer in setting things up right now. Figured i'd share my success story, and great video! will share with friends.

    This is a great video!!! I know it’s an older video. I’m new to iRacing and have a G920 that I was getting very frustrated with. I tried to follow other videos to no success. I followed your tutorial in this video step by step and worked perfectly! I can actually race competitively and the wheel feels great (I know, for a low end wheel). Thank you so much for this video!

    Wow. I've been driving in iRacing for about 6 months. Until I saw this video, I didn't even know I'd had it set up all wrong. I was using a one-size-fits-all for all cars, and the strength set up completely wrong, had damping and min force WAY up which isn't even needed on my CSL wheelbase. The best tip by far was having a per-car setup, and letting iRacing suggest the strength. This has improved my consistency dramatically, and my lap times by at least a couple of seconds. Cheers, Dave! :D

    Thanks so much for this video. I also have a G29 and was struggling with feeling what the car was doing on iRacing. I didn't have this problem in sims like ACC. After watching the video, I was able to quickly shave quite a bit of time off my best lap in the MX5 at Lime Rock Park. But the more important thing, is that my consistency has seemed to improved a lot. I also feel much more confident in the MX5. Before I was driving passive because I had no feel for what the car was doing. Now if I could only improve my breaking technique. :)

    Thank you, very useful guide so all of the guess work and research is already done for me. I've been using wheelcheck + lut generator for AC so similar steps. My G920 is returning a consistent step log 2 threshold at 8-9%. Min force test is telling me anywhere from 2-5%. I'm guessing I have a low value return messing up the output. It's not money so I will use my old Excel trick and pick the correct the answer. Thanks again, Daniel

    Excellent tutorial, thanks! A question though: can you really feel the car starting to slide (oversteer that is) with these settings and do you feel you can react quickly enough to also catch it? That is my main strugle with my Thrustmaster T300RS. I've been using iRFFB which improves it for me, but this tutorial makes me want to give iRacing another try without iRFFB. Thanks again!

    • @Sampsoid
      @Sampsoid  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks a lot. I haven't used iRFFB, I know of its good but comes with some drawbacks I believe. Obviously loads of pros also. I am happy with level of ffb I get through my G29 wheel

    • @david_haas_
      @david_haas_ 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      WheelCheck tells me that Min Force should be 1% for my T300RS. Surprisingly low number. The torque is 3.9 nm so I set that to 4.0 (one step lower would be 3.8 which I will also try). The auto strength came up with 12.8. Overall I liked how it feels, but I can't say I can feel it when I start losing the rear of the car. I had 1 spin in an IMSA race which I didn't see (or hear or feel) coming at all. I'll keep experimenting... Cheers!

    • @Sampsoid
      @Sampsoid  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That does seem low. Did you try both Min force and step log 2 linear force test? I actually prefer that one.

    • @david_haas_
      @david_haas_ 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I did both methods, several times. The step 2 runs vary a bit more, from 1 to 6. The min force varies only from 1 to 1.5. I figured this wheel might actually be this sensitive in the low registers. I've now been testing with the min force set to 0 and I quite like it. Looking forward to racing IMSA tomorrow (in the RSR). Cheers!

    • @insanebase8883
      @insanebase8883 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@david_haas_ Min force is alright, my T300 is about the same. I don't set that ingame, though, as I created a forcemap - it's a profile that will make the FFB a bit more linear. You only really "need" it for consumer wheels (Fanatec wheels and DD wheels have a very linear output already. This also improved "catching slides" for me.

      That’s brilliant thank you so much for your help . After your video I am already putting in consistent laps around my best time . Only 1.08 around lime rock (chicanes)but I was around 1.09 so thank you . I only joined iracing last week and I absolutely love it . I’m not very good but I love it and that’s fine with me .

    Thank you for the video. Do you know if this software will work with a direct drive wheel? I have used the recommended settings by Fanatec but it doesn't feel pristine like what you showed could be achieved. I also did the same for the Iracing settings. Again, thanks and I will give it a go once I get some freetime in the next day or so.

    This was very helpful. I'll have to spend a bit more time doing laps to get FFB strength tuned up. Coming from GT Sport, this was a pretty steep learning curve. I've got a T300, and you mentioned you would expect the Mazda to be around a value of 8, but the auto value gave me something more like 24. Does this seem reasonable?

      Same setup, mine also says 26. Feels fine to me, but all the other videos show values around 10 or so

    Can someone help? What's the torque output of Thrustmaster TMX? I can't find that stat anywhere and I'm getting furius. No luck with the T150 either.

    Hi David, I just did this with my Logitech g923 with a formula vee around oulton park. The auto strength came out at 26.2. Does that sound right? Seems a bit high to me

    I did this with the Mazda and a CSL elite 1.1. Auto gave 23ish with the auto button. That can't be right, right? Did several smooth laps

    hello for the g29 do you advice to put wheel force to 2.2 or 2.4, in the sense does something change? Also is it more realistic to keep the damper at 0 or better to have it set a bit?

    Great Vid David. Thanks. Only problem I am having is that when I run the wheelcheck it seems to work, the wheel moves etc but the CSV is always created but is 0 bytes in size and empty. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

    • @indigoed
      @indigoed 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      FIXED - It seems that I need to let wheelcheck complete the test - I cannot just quit out like in your video otherwise the file is empty. Reduced the max count to 30 and this was sufficient to get a response on a TMX wheel.

    David...what wheel/pedal combo do you like best...Logitech G29 (G920) or Thrustmaster TMX Pro?

    • @Sampsoid
      @Sampsoid  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Funny enough I went from the TMX to the G29. Both wheels are great but I slightly prefer the Logitech wheel. The pedals however cannot be compared, the Logitech pedals are far superior.

    David, I downloaded Wheel Check version 1.82, loaded and set the parameters as you've indicated and I get nothing. no movement of the whee. at all and nothing in the documents folder. I tried the previous version of Wheel Check and don't get any results with that version either. I'm running a Fanatec Clubsport V2 wheel base which Wheel Check sees and sets in the first drop down menu. I set the next two as you directed, Max Count at 200 and then from the second dropdown menu Step 2. I wait and the wheel never moves. I am new to sim racing and am trying to get the optimum set up using your "How To" videos. Any idea as to why Wheel Check is not working?

  • @givemedrums83

    So my results come back much differently. Your results show a long list of zeros, where my first DeltaX is line two, and the far left only reads 100. Am I doing something wrong??
