- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 5 ก.ย. 2023
- The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq ($69,830 starting in Canada, $58,590 in the US) is the first all-electric vehicle from Cadillac and it aims to demonstrate the future direction of their vehicles. The Lyriq sends 340 horsepower and 325 lb ft of torque to the rear wheels and has a claimed range of 505 km (314 miles) in base form. An even more powerful AWD trim is available, but it has slightly less range. In terms of interior luxury, the Lyriq also has a massive 33 inch display, an optional 19 speaker AKG sound system and GM Super Cruise capability. But how does Cadillac’s first foray into the EV space hold up against the competition? And is it worth the price tag? We hope you enjoy the episode! Subscribe!

Zendaya will be so proud
Technically it would be a Emmy
that was so funny, but it could happen in real life
The intro’s funny, but it’s also making a really good point about accessibility and a general industry failure to do a decent job.
Love these guys seems like they really give an unbiased opinion even if the company gave them the press car! 😂
No kidding. I found it funny too, even as someone who carries an Epi-pen for a food allergy. Making stuff "fancy" for the sake of doing so and losing accessibility in times of emergency is something we could do without.
Yep, absolutely this. Modern cars are contradictory when it comes to safety. Brilliant crash and pedestrian protection - at the expense of weight and design variance - but then you have to use idiotic screens with a million sub menus. All that while trying to handle increasingly mental power outputs in ‘cars’ the size of Western Europe and with multiple elephants in the room.
It makes no sense. Right, rant over.
This what we get when the Playstation-generation is designing cars. More stuff = better.
Everyone is chasing Tesla ideals.
James' analogy regarding the first cars looking like carriages and all is the perfect way to explain EVs with grills. He described it so brilliantly and with so many less words than I'd be able to.
Lyriq is the best execution of a fake grill I've seen, but they're really unnecessary and honestly speak to just how risk-free and afraid car companies are.
Many EV front ends, Kia's, just remind me of when Mr Anderson has his mouth glued shut by Agent Smith. Fake and stupid
it makes sense for them to be riskfreea and afraid. they're investing hundreds of millions into their new car with the hopes that the customer will like it. should they stick with the OG designs? the ones that are proven to be likeable by consumers? or should they risk it all and make something like how BMW did with the M3 grille?
Or it speaks to how dumb and resistant to change we as consumers are. People like the fake grills. I like them
@@mateuszwolak7506you are on point. I don't think car manufacturers are in love with them, but we, the consumers very much are. I still think that there is visually something missing between the lights off Teslas. But it doesn't mean that I like these fake thingies, either, I'm looking especially at you two, Lyriq and Ioniq 5. I dunno what there should be, but nothing looks weird and stupid shit just looks stupid and shitty. Not by much, I could live with both of those two, but they are just.... Trying too much. They are so "radical" and "out there". In the end, both are like graphic designs and details of 80's, there really is a lot of similarity. And they aged really well...
still, people who likes cars (the majority buyers of good cars) wont accept these dumb boring useless electric cars, and they should not ever, electric cars are for babies with no sense
A guy at my job had one of these as a loaner and they look absolutely amazing on the inside and that sound system is something to just have to hear to believe!
Only Thomas would think “garlic sauce” was a brand name 😂
Considering I've ordered things, twice at this point, from large chains that stated garlic sauce but which did not in fact have any garlic in them he's not far off.
It’s not garlic sauce, it’s garliq (TM) sauce

just got our 2024 Lyriq one of the first in Canada very nice been loving in 1 month we have already reached over 5000km it has been a great drive except minor apple car play issues.
Agree this looks good and much better than the weird competition. I just wish they would stop over complicating things like doors. It's so incredibly easy and intuitive to open a mechanical door in 1 smooth motion.
They’re bringing actual door handles for 2024, GM confirmed.
Good news is, enough people called them out on how stupid these doors are so the lyriq now comes with actual door handles.

Throttle House and Car Trek have been scratching that itch for me for awhile now. Glad at least TH is still posting regularly 🥴
@@BobBob-et9ioalthough I've watched all the Car Trek's, it feels even more scripted than TG was, while not being even remotely funny. TH's road trip was FAR better than any of the Car Trek ones.
Eh. Throttle house has a better technical review of the cars, but it's also pretty obvious what they value in them and the reviews become predictable, which is ok.
In terms of antics, personality and ability to present, the trio of TG is still far, far ahead. Clarkson could review a goddamn toaster and I would find it hilarious. I can't say the same for the guys at TH, and I love them.
Let's just say I don't miss Richard Hammond anymore when I watch these videos.
One of the best intros y’all have done. I hope the manufacturers watch this and understand the mistakes they are doing
It would be nice, but I'm sure they really don't care.
This felt like a… highly produced episode of Extra Throttle House with you guys in the car together 😂 Love this format for these types of cars
I like a front grill look like you said, even when no longer needed with EVs. Helps to break it up and add style. Manufacturers should keep adding these, but evolve and improve it to use a material that won't get road rash and look bad after 5 years.
I can see it evolving to becoming another screen to flash "fuck you" messages to people who cut you off in the future.
I find that stupid. Grills are for people so resistant to anything new that they‘d have gone extinct if natural selection was still a thing
The intro 🤣🤣🤣 immaculate
It's been revealed, Thomas is a vampire.
James could have been a fantastic First Responder. The way he kept his cool while James was slowly dying. Amazing. 👏
I’m sure one of those names should be different… His name is “And I’m James” isn’t it??
That’s me in the ICU
@@BigfootDubs Huh? James was eating his food like a boss, and Thomas was succumbing to his allergy like a weakling.
My university amongst others gets one of these to basically strip it down and reverse engineer it, from the manufacturing to the coding. Really excited because I like this car alot and did not imagine getting a Lyriq specifically to break down and learn

Also that glove box is an absolute deal breaker for me, probably the definitive example of adding tech for the sake of adding tech

'That's dumb!" Love the straightforward honesty.
James's comment "It's a lovely place to be...just don't press on anything too hard." Pretty much sums it up. I remember when Car & Driver first tested this and said it was a luxury bargain. This e-car market is moving really fast.
I can't imagine what it would cost to replace one of those headlight assemblies. Brilliant review as always! Keep up the great work!

For once someone has made an EV vehicle with an interior that still has some visual emotion left in it and doesn't look like something out of the Jetsons!

@@piercelawless2654God I hate when people say shit like this. I drive a ZL1 and think this looks awful. Gonna call me broke? Retard.
Volvo/Polestar? Audi? Just asking.
If by EV you only look at tesla and newer companies
My business partner has a Mach E and I have driven it many times and I would 100% get this over the Mach E. The Lyriq looks premium inside and out, not the same class of vehicle at all.
Yeah I don’t know why they continuously kept comparing this with Mach E and Ionic. It would have made sense if they did with offerings from Mercedes, Audi, Lexus, or even Tesla.
@@ws1814 Bizarre comparison, like comparing an Escalade to an Expedition. lol
Customers considering this Cadillac probably aren’t cross shopping with the Mustang or Ioniq, because they are looking for that premium look and feel. However, the comparison is interesting anyway when talking about driving dynamics, build quality, ergonomics, daily usability, etc. Might make a buyer question what they are really getting for the extra money.
@@michaelguthardt327crazy how this cheaper too
I think its a fair comparison. With EV lines of cars now there is really becoming a lot less areas of things that these “premium” car brands can claim to justify their pricing. EV pretty much have the same power (or they all have enough that it becomes unnecessary to need more), as they claimed the suspensions/steering/torque/etc are completely comparable. Being an EV the interiors are probably comparably quite. They have comparable tech options. The only thing i noticed that had the an iqonic wouldnt is massaging seats. So if Cadillac/BMW/Mercedes want to charge $20000-30000 premiums still, what is it they are offering to justify it? Idk about you, but i think they will start losing alot of customers if its just interior materials and “feel”. Im sure a good segment of their customer base still sees 20k as alot more money they could put elsewhere
I think it’s the best looking of the EV crossovers, I absolutely love it.
Your glasses are so thick that when you look on a map you can see people waving.
Ya know, there were also people that thought the Edsel was a great looking Sedan. And think the production Cybertruck looks good. To each their own I guess.
I agree. I’m not buying a luxury SUV to blend in with everyone else. This thing is gorgeous but most importantly uniqueZ
Another funtastic review with great editing. Love this show!
I have absolutely no interest in buying any EV, yet here I am watching a review of one. It’s all because of you guys! You don’t do reviews you do proper entertainment. Thank you.
You should maybe rethink that, you’ll save money and time………I wake up in the morning and the car is charged for Pennys and nerver have to go to a gas station change any fluids or check them and maintenance besides tires is almost non existent, I’m still riding in the same brake pads 4 plus years and they’re just now at half way down😳, and you will absolute kill ice vehicles at the stoplights………there’s almost zero upside to an ice vehicle besides the sound if you’re into making noises while getting your ass handed to you! 😆🤷🏽♂️

Throttle House is so good I just sat through a 20 min review of a C teir car, and enjoyed it.
At the end he essentially just named the Blazer EV SS that supposed to be coming out.
Hilarious Intro! Well done guys.

So happy you guys managed to shoot the entire video before Thomas was offed. Thomas will be missed though.
The Lyriq is the best looking EV in the class. It really is a well executed design.
You mean the „lol I weigh more than a truck“ class? Yeah because nobody else is dumb enough to build in it
I saw a local review show the 2024 Lyriq and Cadillac fixed the door handle situation, now they work like the Tesla Model 3. Now if only they would put a latch on the glove box.
That door design is pure chaos
Love the innovative doorhandles!!! ❤

Another Banger by Thortle House
Keep doing this you deserve way more!
I test drove one of these at a marketing event and loved it, but wasn't in the market to buy. This year I was in the market, but the dealership said it would take 22 MONTHS to get a Lyriq with SuperCruise. Not to mention an awful dealership experience, maybe because I was under 30 and not wearing a suit. Ended up getting a Model Y. ID.4 was also a very close competitor, probably would have gone with that if it weren't for the Electrify America/ NACS news.
Harrison is pretty good at conveying the seat comfort with no words! 😀
Throttle house is so funny every video makes my day😂❤
I’m surprised your Lyriq made it down the road without breaking down😅 we have so many at work
Would love you guys to go back a review an EV you already have but in winter conditions to see how much of an affect the weather has on range.
I'm sure they know about shrinkage.
Have they ever tested range on a vehicle?
The best part of GM is that they actually listened and now the 2024 model will come with door handles (Tesla Model 3/Y style) that actually pop out to grab them. Just because of that I wouldn't touch a 2023 model.
Love all your intros! Super hilarious! I love your channel I watch you videos everyday ! Thank you both so much !
One min in… I pause the video and click like.. I don’t even care about the car review anymore(I’ll still watch it ofc) but the epi pen bit*chefs kiss* pure gold!!
On my job, there is one red. It is beautiful, sleek, and credit to Cadillac on the exterior execution. From a view, it looks small to me, but I guess it is roomier than you would think.
Love the dirty headrests 🤣
Do people actually like that all cars are turning into minivans? Nothing wrong with a minivan, but there was nothing wrong with a sedan either.
Unfortunately yes they do
Materialism. A good number of suburbanites could care less about looks when it comes to flexing on the next door neighbor.
Love the channel. Double love it since y'all are also from the great white north.

I haven’t laughed this hard in a while. ‘It’s pretty obvious. It’s deep in the menu to the screen’. Best intro yet from you guys. You’re only getting better!
Great intro I saw one of these in person a couple days ago it’s a good looking car I like it
The intro is perfect
Terrific looking vehicle. Love the A pillar back to the tail from the side angle. Very cool. 😎
This is the car reviewers that even when you don’t like the car they are reviewing you would still want to watch. Amazing!!
I initially thought the intro was dumb but you won me over with your Oscar worthy performance, plus I love when a point is well made. A++.
I love watching you guys. I crack up screaming sometimes lol you are so funny
“That handled like trying to run through a ball pit in those ‘90s moon shoes.”
One of Thomas’ funniest lines in a while 😂
Better exterior design than the current BMW, Audi & Mercedes EV Suv's👌
Idk the Audi Q8 etron looks pretty good and less weird at the back
I always liked Art and Science. 2.0 is even better. It has a bold, executive presence that is distinctively American and appropriately bespoke to Cadillac.
The Lyriq isn't my favourite example of it.
@@andrewduong2740yea I think this design looks best on the (China ct6), xt6 and Escalade
There is no way anyone does better intros than Throttle House's! Hands down the best!
Nice video keep up the good work my brothers
You boys still have the magic. Best openings in the business and the best reviews.
I test drove one of these couple of weeks ago .. The best interior EV or non EV .. such a sad thing they can't produce them enough and then dealers charging 10k over the MSRP as market adjustment .. Also due to delays in super cruise components, they are producing only the base model which has significantly less premium things as compared to lux2 or tech 2.. And they have got rid of push / pull thing in 2024 model
Give it six months for thr repos to catch up to the industry. Prices are falling and luxury EVs will fall the most.
They now offer 7,500 off MSRP. Amazing what a few months can do.
My favorite duo ever ! Thomas and james the history won’t repeat u!
i think the Cadillac designers put that subtle little emblem on the back of the radio head unit exactly for moments like this.
I’m a salesman at a Cadillac dealership and the AWD version is out and so are 2024 models, the AWD is noticeably better and the 2024 level 2s and 3s are being built here this month in September but awesome cars I highly recommend anyone checking out EVs to take a look
Sorry, but Cadillac is and has been going down the drain for years. Sales are abysmal compared to all other luxury vehicles. This electric garbage is just another nail in the GM coffin.
@@chriszaiserany thing before “but” is a lie. Just say it in your opening sentence if you don’t like GM or Cadillac and get it out the way.
@@chriszaiser The eleventy billion new Escalades around me say otherwise.
Of course you do you’re a salesman lmao
@@chriszaiserI’ll be honest, I thought Cadillac was only the Escalade until they came out with this thing. I was really surprised they made something like this, it’s a pretty good offering imo.
There has been spy shots for the 2024 Lyriq with real door handles. And there is apparently a V Series in development, and hopefully that will get the MagneRide suspension.
So the glimmer of hope is that Cadillac is being proactive, and working on improving the car.
The 2024 Lyric has relatively normal door handles that pop out in the front and you pull them to open the door. This design was more or less a place holder bc it came out well before it should have. They have a lot of kinks to work out before it's really a solid vehicle
i have the 2024 AWD and it indeed has normal door handles. The car is amazing!
@@evanderfrancis694 I didn't know they had hit the market yet. Great to hear!!! 😀
good because i've seen people saying that the door has failed many times and hurt hands
Awesome beginning--SO funny. Keep up a great work guys!
The starting price of the Lyriq is actually pretty appealing, especially if you can get the $7,500 tax incentive here in the USA. When I sat in a Lyriq at a car show, I was really impressed . . . all that being said, the glovebox just pisses me off. That's just so very, very stupid.
Aside from the back and rear 3/4 view it looks good. The rear feels like it's being stretched just for cargo.
Keep up the good work guys
Interesting assessment - some things to note are that the fussy door handles have been completely replaced on all 2024 models with something akin to what’s on the Ioniq 5/6 albeit nicer as they have light bars in them. I was extremely impressed with both the design and build quality of the one I sampled a few months ago. Ride quality, cabin quietness, material quality, design (subjective but still), and tech were notably better in the Lyriq than the Mach-E. Also, you keep saying it’s 80k CN but then on the screen it shows that it’s significantly less than that…most other reviewers make note of how much value you’re getting for your money with the Lyriq. I’m not even going to go into how much better it is than the dumpy-looking Model Y…IMO Cadillac knocked it out of the park with this one.
The Lyriq in this video is 80k CN as equipped for this review. The “cheaper” numbers on screen are Lyriq base model pricing with no options. Cadillac, like many others, love to overcharge for their options.
@@oscarquijanodiaz4610 the trim lines are only a few thousand dollars apart from each other and they’re all pretty generously equipped 🤷🏼♂️ also they are driving a 2023 debut edition RWD that had a roughly $70k CN MSRP…
It would be nice if they reviewed the current model year Lyriq instead of the old one. The new one has the new door handles which is game changer for simplicity.
The fact that you have to point out *standard doorhandles* as a "gamechanger" says all about the level of lunacy current car design has reached. I just wish car makers stopped all this nonsense and focussed their efforts on actually building better cars instead of pointless, needlessly convoluted tech fests.
@@FzNd I wouldn’t say the new door handles are standard design . But, they are much simpler in design and function, which is as a consumer I would like.
I didn't realize Thomas had a dump truck 5000. Bro is majestic.

Always a great review. After seeing this, I'd be scared of how many things in this car would break. I mean, why not just use door handles? And why not just have a normal latch for the glove box!
The door handle design was changed already.
They’re changing the door handles for 2024, GM confirmed.
For me, I don’t care about how complicated something is or its color or how fast it can go from 0-60mph…. what I care about is how far it can go on a charge AND how quickly I can recharge it. That’s it. That’s what I want. Long distance travel and rapid recharging.
These videos have always been the best on TH-cam, but MY GOD this is top 3 for sure lmaooo!!!
I think you guys raised a very valid point there and auto manufacturers need to pay attention to this. I cant believe how complicated things are getting for the most menial of tasks, there should be legislation against this in the future..

Your f-ing intros are the best! Keep up the great job guys!!!
Good ZDX preview, thanks, guys! Hopefully, with a sane decision to add Apple Car play to the ZDX, Acura will also add a dedicated button for the glovebox :D
Agreed with this. Good looks, great engineering, Interior looks great and has all the features, but needs some more time in the oven. The creaks are disappointing and its unfortunate. The vehicle started at a good base price and perhaps that caused the bean counters to cut some corners, or maybe they haven’t gotten their production line fully fleshed out. Needless to say the creaks are more perceived quality rather than actual quality. Let’s see if these things break or if they hold up reliably.
Would you elaborate on the creaks comment? Thanks in advance!
I was waiting for when you guys finally reviewed the Lyriq, I actually have the all wheel drive 500 hp version of the car and from what I can tell in the video there are some differences. The power obviously is one but other things that are different is that the door handles on the 600e actually pop out for you to grab and it seems like the 600e hugs the ground better and more naturally. We have a mountain here in Colorado that I took the car down and it handled quite nicely. Anyway I'm happy you guys reviewed this car, lmk if you guys wanna review the 600e I gotchu.
