Her hair was like the cerebral cortex. Her torso and body resembled the midbrain and br¹ainstem to me. I noticed this even as a child. She was so cool! I loved this show growing up.

Dude I had a poster of Him in my room. RIP Him, me and my friends would quietly fangirl/boy. It was a true childhood memory. I shed a point every time I see Him
What I loved about PPG as a kid was that it was never a "girly show". Sure the protagonists were female, but the story lines, character arcs and conflicts appealed to both boys and girls. A lot of my guy friends used to watch and love the show as kids too! Aah.. the golden age of cartoons
They really miss understood all the characters every single one. Blossom went from Strong confident, brave, bossy, smart, straight man, with a bit of an ego to a full blown sterotypical nerd, Bubbles went from being the heart of the group to being the wacky goofball of the group. She was always like that but here she rarely has sweet moments you would never see her crying because she wants everyone to get along, or nurce Bullet the Squirrel back to health. Buttercup went from the sassy short tempered one who always speaks her mind but is sweet deep down , to a trouble maker that causes 90 percent of the problems. In the original she was rarely mischievous.
@Tarlo The Boar Yeah, I picked up on the fact that he was Satan when I was ten based on the fact that he was so evil that the narrator couldn't say his name. That and I think the red skin and goatee was a dead give away... :p
The irony is that Craig didnt want the PPG to be marketed as just a girly show, because it was supposed to be subversive and ironic with the contrast of cute girls beating the crap out of villains. Then it ended up being marketed as a girls show anyway. He was ahead of his time.
It’s just the state of modern film. We’re told strong female leads are not on message, but stereotypical girly women or super-powered Mary Sue’s are what “real” women should be depicted as
A few things: 1. Mojo is a chimp, not a monkey. Both are primates, but different types. 2. HIM is supposed to be the Devil, literally. 3. The episode where Buttercup starts hanging out with the Gangrene Gang was intentional. Ace wasn't really hitting on her, he was actually trying to weaken the Girls so that the gang could commit crimes freely. This was even revealed closer to the end of the episode.
What about "him", i thought he was just a normal villan when i was a kid, but now i see he was truly fucked up. I find him to be the best character nowdays.
I thought it was obvious enough the red guy was the devil himself. The name "Him" is like a "You-Know-Who" as if "we are not allowed to speak his name". He was supposed to portray the absolute evil thus why he was also so powerful, weird and erotic at times lol.
Remember that one weird episode where Mojo Jojo makes a evil genderbend of the powerpuff girls and they defeated the genderbend by..kissing them? And embarrassing them?
Being a boy myself when I watched that episode.. you can definitely say I was grossed out by it.. and now when I think about it as an adult, it's messed up haha. Telling kindergarten girls to seduce kindergarten boys to destroy them.. wow
My mom let me watch Tom and Jerry but I had no interest in PPG. Also I saw this weird parody where Bubbles goes, "Again? Aw, (bleep)" on the telephone and I died laughing.
AnGieZ PlAyZ plenty of children were accidents, but their parents don’t hate them at all. You would be surprised how many children were actually “accidents” but their parents were still happy to have them aka a “happy accident”.
For those who don't know why it was called Chemical X, it's because the letter 'x' is often used to represent an unknown quantity or variable, and technically has unlimited potential in that sense alone. The naming convention of chem x in the original show was more clever than it seemed.
Not joking, powerpuff girls, tottaly spies, samurai jack, tmnt, watched anything that came on. Saturday morning cartoons were honestly like my life at that time
@@sleepdeprived_inc. certain apps will have it. The Cinema app on ur phone will, I have to where you can cast it to your tv. It has teen titans and all that. I hope you find it
To be fair, there were some episodes from seasons 5 and 6 of the original Powerpuff Girls that I actually quite like. Such as when Buttercup becomes the student of a Buddhist monk and learns to better control her temper and aggression. Or when the girls think that their monster substitute teacher is evil, only to reveal that he is actually be a really kind man who wants to help and educate the kids.
"Him" was the ultimate bad guy, for him to be feared by everyone including villains shows how much power he had, someone mentioned him being the devil which is enterily possible considering "Him" lives in another dimension.
@@tomechan5139 I didnt think of it that way but it does make sense, atheism wasn't the thing it is back then and could've triggered a lot of backlash, not from the kids (unless you were Rod and Todd Flanders) but from parents. Something that is unlikely to happen today given we're getting Netflix series like Lucifer.
I could never figure out if he was a man or a woman so I ended up with the conclusion that he, being most likely the devil himself, didn't have any gender. This show's villain was the only thing to help me get over my homophobia and accept everyone (whether nombinary, gay, etc etc) Lols. Kids shows were great back then
Let's not forget one old episode where the professor goes to a DATE and one of the Powerpuff girls inserts what I swear appears to be a CONDOM into his pocket adding, "don't forget one of these!" LOL decent sex ed right there
ArcticCatOnline or maybe you’re to innocent to really understand the full scope of the joke 🙃. You remember that episode where “him” kidnapped the professor and kept saying “he will pay” and the girl were trying to stop him but then it turns out he was selling the prof. some food and he’s like “ dang that’s expensive”
Or when Him gives them a limited time to take multiple-choice tests and solve riddles before they are out of time. I think it was called "Him Riddle Riddle"
Everyone talks about the Speed Demon episode and how creepy it was but the episode with Professor Dick scared me more and gave me nightmares as a kid. The girls literally died for a moment cuz Dick was draining the literal life out of them. Dude literally swallowed the chemical X bottle, mooched off them then died in that burning castle along with all of those other creepy looking powerpuff clones. That episode was pure nightmare fuel…
I was probably one of those people who was willing to give PPG 2016 a chance, but two things really turned me off: - The removal of Ms. Bellum (Srly why?!) - The introduction of a 5th powerpuff who looks like an OC from deviantart (I know shes supposedly the 4th powerpuff but we all know who the *REAL* 4th powerpuff is)
Ms Bellum got removed for being too inappropriate? She's the most intelligent character in the show. But letting kids twerk in front of your TV screen? Eh. Change my mind.
Blossom. Bubbles. Buttercup. Long ago, the three Powerpuff girls lived in nostalgic harmony. Then, everything changed when corporate expectations attacked
I don't really know if this character i"s from ppg but i think her name i's bell If she i's white i think it i's bell Anyway If i's from ppg pls can someone give link of an video she appear?;-;
SAME- And the worst part is that as a child, I was watching the episode from my Ipad. I *think* it's battery was either 3 or 4 during the scene with Mr. Zombie and Blossom. So as this zombie guy throws my favourite childhood character at a coffin with spikes in it, the battery just dies. You can imagine my terror at the time.
as a kid i watched this. believe it or not, the grooming part saved me from beeing molested. As a kid i learned from this because it didnt feel right. maybe it is good to have these topics in cartoons to make kids aware of dangers. A lot of those old cartoons helped me make better judgements in life.
@@zierragacha5089 That's what I just said. This episode is basically a modern gender-bent version of "Samson and Delilah," but replace haircuts with cuting family bonds, and nobody dies at the end (just badly injured)
The movie was actually really great. It tells us how the people of Townsville slowly realized the importance of Powerpuff Girls and began to see them as the city's personal superheroines.
Omg same. I loved Powerpuff girls as a child and when my parents said we were moving to Australia and I found out I would be living in Townsville I freaked out. Sadly I soon found out that the powerpuff girls weren't there 😆
@@m.a.k.dynasty4504 Bruh, the reboot is an insult to the original! ON A KIDS SHOW! Fuck this reboot.
Honestly no matter how much the newest intro kinda slaps, nothing beats the original theme song of this series. There's this certain charm, from the melodies, to how the instruments switch when each of the girls pop up on screen, to that little guitar riff when it pans around the villains, quite the iconic intro song, seriously.
They also make a brief appearance in the movie. During one scene, Mojo Jojo is reading the newspaper and in the paper it says Gorillaz played a show in Townsville along with a picture of them
@@crankyartist111 iirc gorillaz was also going to have a song in the movie but the idea was scrapped or they were unable to because of time or licensing
Nah that sounds like Christian propaganda which I dearly hope it is not since being gay is not a sin yet perfectly natural and there's no "devil" turning our kids gay. I know there are lunatics who believe and promote this. I know America tends to have such religious propaganda leaking into cinema and television therefore i hope Powerpuff girls is unaffected and so are the children.
"Isn't this a girl's show?!" The fact that me and my cousin, 2 kids with 2 entirely different tastes and opposite genders would both enjoy this show immensely and relate to the characters really speaks volumes 😆 he called himself buttercup and I was blossom. I think the success behind these girl-targeted shows are really the fact that they don't actually limit themselves to 1 gender demographic, they bring the best of both genres and mix it together in the best way. Then they spill some chemical X, which is all the existential/dark/creepy/deep element behind many of the episodes
That's true, now-a-days most shows are targeted towards both genders and even when one is geared towards a certain gender, they still write the show in a way that can be Enjoyed by all audiances without alieanating the original targeted audiance, just look at shows like: Star vs. The Forces of Evil MLP: FIM ect.
I think the only reason HIM wasn't made the primary villain was because if that had been the case 90% of the show would have been like the Speed Demon episode and would have been way too hardcore for the child audience it was going for. Even Courage the Cowardly Dog didn't go extremely dark in every episode
Meanwhile, Digimon S1's villains include a 'mon literally named "Devimon", a vampire who kills several Digmon, a gay demon clown dude, and a monkey who wants to be Elvis!
I forgot about the level of violence until a couple of years ago i randomly stumbled upon a clip of Bubbles going hardcore and going: "HOLY SHIT! She just tore off that monster's horn and impaled another one through the throat with it!" That was some DOOMslayer stuff and it was amazing.
There definitely were some really cool episodes in the later seasons (5 and 6) even if it wasn't quite touching the show in it's prime overall. "See Me, Feel Me, Gnomey" was definitely one of the more creative episodes in that batch but it was unfortunately banned in some countries. Sure a few cartoons have had musical episodes but my god were the songs in that awesome!
I really love Courage The Cowardly Dog, good thing it ended they way it did instead of filling the show with nonsense. Kept the show crude till the end.
I loved the ORIGINAL growing up but I will never forget that one episode in like season 5 where it shows them in the future as teenagers and they’re all just hitting on the guys
I dont like gumball. It really shouldnt be classified as a kids show. I dont watch it religiously but whenever I catch bits of it I think...this belong on adult swim.
I wish you would've talked a bit more about the anime. It's true that it feels pretty different from the original, but while as a kid I always liked to watch random episodes of the original, just because I thought the girls were cute and cool, when I got older and started getting into anime, the powerpuff girls anime was one of the first series I watched because of the positive recognition I had with the series and I liked it so much, that it got me into shojo magical girl anime altogether, like the Precure series. I did rewatch the anime version later when I was older and still really enjoyed it, I have a lot of nostalgia for it. It does have less coolness factor, but the anime artstyle makes it cuter and more wholesome than the original series. Also the stories are less crazy and there's multiple episodes just about growing up girl problems. Watching this review kinda makes me rewatch the original series properly to compare them. I think I never watched the original series episodes in proper order.
That's some weird plot twist. Mojo actually created the Powerpuff Girls this whole time. At least in the opening of the movie where that monkey just bumped into the professor and accidently put the Chemical X on the ingredients. So the intro of the show's backstory really make sense.
As a kid, I just assumed they were some kind of bees with superpowers, idk why, maybe due to the black stripes on their clothes, their size and the fact that they fly. I even called them "пчеличките"[pchelichkite], which translates to "the bees" in my language. xD For the record, I didn't know any English back then. Maybe even my parents called them "bees" and I didn't think much of it.
Dude, Powerpuff Girls, Dexter's Lab, Ed Edd and Eddy, Kids next door, Foster's Home, and Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy have all had connections. Even a huge crossover with KND and Billy and Mandy. They're all in the same universe
Come to think of it. Really wish we had gotten A Cartoon Network Cinematic Universe rather than a Universal Dark Universe. One that's done properly like the MCU and isn't a total gigantic trash fire of a Cinematic Universe.
Actually, theory wise, they are the same person but was never confirmed via author. If you really think about it, Dexter shared the same universe alongside them. But the real question would be: is Aku the evolved version of HIM,a relative to HIM or HIM'S "boss"? And the PP girls, did they die due this phenomenon? We will NEVER know indeed......
@@Chaos_867 No, Warner Bros just recently made an awful and cringe live action Tom and Jerry movie that the director of the Fantastic Four movies made.
Fun fact: "The Powerpuff Girls Rule!!!" was originally meant to be an hour-long special. But I guess because then-Cartoon Network president Stuart Snyder didn't want nice things during this time, he demanded that it be shortened to just 30 minutes. This would explain the chaotic pacing and why the characters speak so fast (I watched the special on Netflix a few times and noticed a static filter in the character's voices in some scenes, which made it obvious that the editors were having to edit the voice clips to avoid losing time).
I remember Him really confusing me when I was 4 because he look like a guy and was named Him, but he was dressed like a woman. If i'm remembering right, I think I decided he was "a very fancy guy."

Secondly, I was only a bit older when I was attracted to Him. That attraction ended a long time ago. Third, my fetish doesn't involve MYSELF cross dressing, it involves OTHER people cross dressing. Finally, I don't see how being into cross dressing is something I need to get help for. It's not hurting me or anyone else, and it's certainly not illegal. There are so many harmful and immoral fetishes out there (like pedophilia, necrophilia, zoophilia, etc.), that cross dressing is relatively tame by comparison. Oh my God, that's how I felt too. The one scene I remember during the quality dip years was one where Bubbles made a poop joke with Mojo on the toilet and I never forgot it--hell, when they announced the reboot the flashbacks came flooding back and I was like, *"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"*

It's better it was different, instead taking in all the unique flavor of anime for the series instead of trying to be a purely anime recreation of the same material.
The the narrator was always so funny to me in some episodes! He would always say some crazy shit here and there. *And once again the day is saved, thanks to* *THE POWER PUFF GIRLS!*
Powerpuff girlZ is more like a generic magical girl anime or simply Power Rangers than an adaptation of the show, yet still better than the 2016 version.

Like Adventure Time. It was the show that revived Cartoon Network during its live action phase. Just like PPG the original creator of left and the quality of the writing felt different.
The original was so much better, they should've just stopped there. No more seasons were needed and I guess the fanservice episode was fine. All they were doing was trying to make a dead bird fly.
This show already was stale. They should've stopped after the movie, cuz that's when it started to sink. PPG ended up like Spongebob, Doug Funny, Rugrats, Dexters Lab... they were supoosed to end with the movies, but were milked dry
The decision to name the show “Powerpuff Girls” instead of the “Whoopass Girls” was one of those points that you can just tell was the thing that created two wildly different timelines.

About that thing between Ace & Buttercup, the former was just using the latter's weakness to make her become bait for her own sisters' demise & maybe tried to use her as a tool for destruction. Ace was never crushing on Buttercup, only Buttercup was crushing on him until she found out that she was being used. However, despite one party was scheming while the other stopped crushing on them, and the huge age gap, there's a lot of sickos that actually ship as a couple.🤮 Especially the people behind "Fusion Fall".
That's still a *type* of grooming... Grooming doesn't have to necessarily be motivated by "attraction", that's just a subset of what Grooming as a whole is. The most common type of grooming is, actually, motivation to commit a Crime or allow someone else to get away with committing a crime... Which is exactly what we see in the buttercup episode.
@Traffic Was Bad I think they stoped making the reboot thank the Lord. It did help me apprecate Original Powerpuff Girls more and showed me how to not make a cartoon.

It's a superhero show. For kids! :D
They’re not superheroes, they’re the WhoopAss Girls. XD
What I loved about PPG as a kid was that it was never a "girly show". Sure the protagonists were female, but the story lines, character arcs and conflicts appealed to both boys and girls. A lot of my guy friends used to watch and love the show as kids too! Aah.. the golden age of cartoons
I clarify as a boy who loves The Powerpuff Girls at a young age.

The fact that me and my cousin, 2 kids with 2 entirely different tastes and opposite genders would both enjoy this show immensely and relate to the characters really speaks volumes 😆 he called himself buttercup and I was blossom. Then they spill some chemical X, which is all the existential/dark/creepy/deep element behind many of the episodes
That's true, now-a-days most shows are targeted towards both genders and even when one is geared towards a certain gender, they still write the show in a way that can be Enjoyed by all audiances without alieanating the original targeted audiance, just look at shows like:
Star vs. The Forces of Evil
MLP: FIM
ect.
I think the only reason HIM wasn't made the primary villain was because if that had been the case 90% of the show would have been like the Speed Demon episode and would have been way too hardcore for the child audience it was going for.
I remember when I asked my mom about Him and why he was dressed as a woman, she told me "He's just a boy who likes dressing like a girl. You sometimes play with boy toys and wear boy shirts, right?" Now that I'm a teenager, I know that she was pretty much telling me that he was a drag queen.
Wait...now that I think about it, I think I was actually ATTRACTED to Him at some point...
Guess that explains my cross dressing fetish.
@@she_bear_aurora It was not human. It was a creature that was creepy. It was not male or female because it was not...human.
Please get some help for your habit of cross dressing. It is not normal. You need to cure the disease to clear up the symptom of cross dressing.
Hi Hu Okay, where to start...
First off, I was 6-7 when I asked my mom that question, and she explained it in a way that I would understand it.
I'm fine with you not agreeing with it for whatever reason, but don't tell me that there's something wrong with me if it isn't hurting anyone or anything.
Hi Hu: Insecure much? You're scared of clothing, wtf.
@@she_bear_aurora Yeah, a lot of people are just too narrow minded to realize there's nothing wrong with having a fetish. Hell, most of them probably have a fetish they don't want to admit they have.
I always imagined Him as a demon.
Didn't know what drag was back then
Emmy Lé Wolf my child self was scared of HIM because I thought of that too... nowadays he’s just a bad guy with a cool sense of fashion.
Mari Lol ikr XD but he still creeps out sometimes because of the internet theories and such ~_~
Back when the show was called Whoopass Stew, Him was called the devil. Unfortunately, the episode he was in wasn't finished.
Why the- why do I have likes?
I wasn’t quite too sure either untill I watched this video was too young to figure that out 😂😂😂

This quality dip was summed up perfectly by a conversation I had with my little sister who was, at the time, binging the series on netflix.
Me: "You don't want to watch the powerpuff girls?"
Her: "No. I don't really like it anymore."
The children did notice.
Yeah cause your little sister speaks for all children..
@@jjxrden nah, because a lot of children are stupid.
Are you talking about after she finished the original pre-movie series or the current reboot?
HotWax93 the original pre-movie series. I was pointing out how she sub-consciously noticed the seasonally rot.
I actually really like Power Puff Girls Z. But at the same time the plot does differ a lot from the original
Silver Moons I mean it is supposed to be it’s own show, I personally love that shit

@@omu6740 I actually liked her change in personality cause I feel like in the original it was a bit bland
It's better it was different, instead taking in all the unique flavor of anime for the series instead of trying to be a purely anime recreation of the same material.

One word: *Bliss*
She is just SO out of character. I really do rage on her design, she has bright blue hair whereas the rest have neutral colored hair. And those _hips_ . Like its out of place. They was she just popped in and suddenly became one of those stereotypical characters just doesnt set right with me.
Im just so mad about them removing Ms.Bellum. she was personally one of my favourite characters. And the art style just isnt it. It went from colourful and bright to washed out colors and it had way too many reboots. I have no particular complaints about the series now, but i really do miss the humor and how there were ACTUALLY COOL fighting scenes instead of sunburns.
-This is way too long-
Makes the professor more of a villain than anything. He was already an irresponsible/bad parent but what he did to Bliss was f'd up. Like dang.

I think they were just trying to keep using an old horse to gain money
Just like the Professor's old friend who was making PPG clones for profit
This show already was stale. They should've stopped after the movie, cuz that's when it started to sink. PPG ended up like Spongebob, Doug Funny, Rugrats, Dexters Lab... they were supoosed to end with the movies, but were milked dry
I remember watching it when I was younger, but when I watched the newest season for fun, it was HORRIBLE.
@@kennethbill6013 After the movie? They started to ROT around season 2.
Cartoon Network: Blood, gore, adult humor, dark theme. Totally fine.
Also Cartoon Network: Whoop ass is not ok.

However, despite one party was scheming while the other stopped crushing on them, and the huge age gap, there's a lot of sickos that actually ship as a couple.🤮
Especially the people behind "Fusion Fall".
yess thank you, im kinda tired of hearing people calling ace a groomer
That's still a *type* of grooming... Grooming doesn't have to necessarily be motivated by "attraction", that's just a subset of what Grooming as a whole is.
The most common type of grooming is, actually, motivation to commit a Crime or allow someone else to get away with committing a crime... Which is exactly what we see in the buttercup episode.
not to mention that Him also has easter eggs in the music video for Gorillaz' Humility, which im pretty sure was also when Ace debuted

I don't know if anyone else noticed, or cared, but the bow. Why did they change Blossom's bow? It ticked me off, and I don't know why. They made it HUGE. Also, Buttercup's voice was changed, which also made me annoyed, and sad.
