Abuse does things to people. Horrifying things. It doesn't justify acting negatively towards others, but it can construe your thoughts of what is right and wrong and how to act as a member of society. Why I'm glad the kids were understanding in the end once they actually met and saw Eddy's brother, and were willing to befriend Eddy and doing so help him be a better person.
Yeah It did, and also for once I felt terrible for Eddy when his brother was being cruel to him and when he finally broke down and admitted he just wanted to be seen as cool as his brother, I felt so bad for Eddy
The finale was so satisfying they acctually got accepted by the other kids, it was so heartbreaking seeing eddy’s idol just treat him like trash. Overall this is still my favourite childhood cartoon.
The ending reveal with Eddy's brother was the most epic thing I had ever seen as a kid. A new character finally introduced to the series after so many years.
That was probably one of the things I was looking forward to when I was watching this as a kid. Just waiting for the guy to appear after hearing Eddy mentioning his brother on and off throughout the show. It was definitely something to see him appear on screen.
The only mystery remains is what's under Double D's hat. But unless if Danny Antonucci or anyone who worked on the show reveals the mystery, we may still never know
@@dontyouhateitwhen...8312 If I remember correctly it was revealed. It was a small scar from when a dodgeball hit him in a game of,well, dodgeball (out of many were he was targeted constantly which is the main reason he isn't very fond of it,since it isn't just a scar,it's a reminder of worse times) and Eddy's "Does it hurt?" was more sarcastic/satirical than anything, basically laughing at him for constantly wearing a hat to hide such a small scar
The story of the Eds is actually pretty sad if you think about it. They all dealt with some form of trauma at home . Ed had parents who showed favoritism towards his little sister that treated him like crap. Edd had parents who were never around and only communicated with him through sticky notes that they left for him. Eddy dealt with years of physical abuse form his older brother, and I assume that his parents either never picked up on it, or picked up on it years after the damage had already been done. With the neighborhood kids rejecting them, Ed, Edd, and Eddy truly only had eachother. Seeing the Eds finally get accepted by the neighborhood kids was one of the most satisfying endings in cartoon history.
The entire film in context is actually pretty dark, but also noble from Eddy's perspective. He KNOWS the whole time he'll have to let his brother hurt him in order to stay with him. However he really believes the kids will hurt his friends worse, so he's willing to take the pain.
Eddy's brother probably wouldn't beat up Edd or Ed unless they really tried to stop him, so Eddy was willing to take the pain for his friends instead of leave them to the mob.
I always had the impression Eddy actually knew where his brother lived but was trying to prepare himself for the abuse he was going to suffer when they finally arrived at Eddy's brother's house.
I would personally love to see what it was, just to get some closure, but honestly, nothing they could think of would actually be worth all the build-up.
@@Meechie2015_BigMeezyCLE. Throughout the entire seasons, one episode shows the Eds playing a mock dodgeball which is there Double D seems to be really scared and began to panic on sight like he is having severe PTSD when he looks at the dodgeball that Eddy was about to throw at him.
Not going to lie i literally shed a tear seeing the final moments with most of the characters at The End. Still no other CN show so far has passed its 10 year mark and earns for being one of the greatest cartoons of all time.
There was no title card in the movie because in 2007, Title Card Artist Paul Boyd, who was also a personal friend of Danny, was brutally murdered by Canadian Police for his wielding of a bicycle chain on the streets of Vancouver, B.C. Rather than ask him why he had the bicycle chain, the police opened fire on him 9 times all over his torso. Needless to say, Danny was absolutely crushed. That's why he ended Season 6 after just 2 episodes, because the final episode was the last title card he had completed. The officer Lee Chipperfield was cleared of any wrongdoing and the RCMP defended him. It was found that Paul Boyd was mentally disturbed, but he was not dangerous. The police claimed that Paul Boyd swung the bicycle chain at the officer, but a DNA analysis only showed the officer's DNA on the chain, meaning that it could have possibly been planted by police. All in all, it was corruption at its finest, and justice was not served. R.I.P Paul Boyd. 1967-2007
This movie itself: It was basically an apology to the fans (and a chance to end the series properly) and it was able to deconstruct everything: The Eds' flaws (Ed doing something smart, Edd standing up for himself and showing physical strength, and Eddy displaying remorse and humility for being such an asshole), The Kankers (by making them help the Eds instead of torturing them), Kevin and Sarah getting what they deserve, and the Eds finally getting accepted by the kids as their friends. Let's not forget that, The Powerpuff Girls Movie, Billy and Mandy's Big Boogey Adventure or Regular Show: The Movie aside, this was probably among the closest Cartoon Network has gotten to doing a legitimate feature-length movie. This wasn't a two-part movie episode. This wasn't a sixty/seventy-minute episode. This was an entire hour-and-a-half MOVIE. AND IT WAS A HIT. Furthermore, the movie currently sits at an 8.5 on IMDB, with a few professional critics remarking on its quality that is unexpected of an animated tv movie based on a cartoon. It is exceedingly rare for a movie adaptation of a cartoon to ever be received better than the source it is based on, and yet the movie pulled it.
Am I the only one who would've rather had Sarah as the outcast at the end rather than Jonny 2x4? To be honest, I actually did enjoy Jonny as he was one of the few kids often friendly to the Eds.
I completely agree! Sarah and Jimmy were always just bratty assholes who took pleasure in others' misfortunes (usually the Eds). Jonny was always just a weird kid with some weird quirks, don't know why he was so hated and made out to be the bad guy in the end.
I loved Johnny. He was great! I guess I related to him a lot growing up because I WAS the weird kid. The last part kind of wasn't fair. (Sarah can go eat dirt.)
Maybe they did it because they wanted to end it on the mock "hero turned villain" ending they had. I kinda found the ending with Johnny funny, but there could have been other ways to end it I think. Still enjoy the show and movie though. It's still one of my childhood favorites and I think it ended off on a decent note that suits the show. It worked for what they wanted and was a satisfying wrap up to the show in my opinion...even if you never find out what the "Scam that must not be named" was.
Looking back on the series as a whole, Eddy's brother was likely a juvenile delinquent like in a literal sense. He probably got involved in actual crime and knew dangerous people like he was in/started a gang and everyone's parents told their kids about it which is why everyone was so scared of him. This would explain why Eddy did scams as opposed to just stealing from people because that's what his brother did. It's also likely that he didn't leave as much as his parents kicked him out either once he turned 18 and went "we don't have to deal with your bullshit anymore" or he got arrested and that was the final straw and they told him don't come home until you get your shit together.
even in other episode it implied Eddy parents were aware of his brothrs treatment of him and the other kids around him and kick him out of the house and the reason why they get him clothes is for him to become the man of the house and the reason why Eddy parents wanted to get rid of the magazines was to rid themeselfs of anything that was eddy brother
All of the Eds really had terrible family lives if you think about it: Ed had been psychologically abused: Didn’t have many possessions, treasured his comics as he wasn’t given many “real” books and they took away the freaking stairs when he was grounded. Plus, they babied Sarah and enabled her to be manipulative and verbally abusive towards Ed (screaming at him, bossing him around, breaking what few possessions he had, etc.) Edd’s parent’s were neglectful. They just left him a bunch of chores to keep him busy and don’t interact with him otherwise. It could be that they were the reason as to why he wears that hat as a punishment for neglecting to do his chores or not performing well in school which has made him become so diligent, studious and morally superior to those his age. Eddy’s parents belittled him and made him feel inferior to his older brother. So whenever he was physically abusive to Eddy, they’d allow it as a way to “toughen him up and become a man”. Ed was never allowed to be a kid, so he’s more immature amongst his friends where he’s free to do so while you still see him being responsible and capable when he’s put in charge of caring for Sarah (which he does really well despite how horrid she is to him), Edd was never allowed to mess up so he had to mature faster and learn to become more self reliant to avoid mistakes and Eddy was never allowed to be himself as his family always saw him as lesser than his brother which is why he always put up a front and was so insecure. I’m so happy that in the end, everyone around them finally accepted them despite their oddities which is what they were always looking for❤️
I feel like the finale also added a sort of indirect explanation for the state of the cul-de-sac and how the "cliques" wound up the way they were. It's obvious that Ed is avoided, and probably always has been, due to his simple-mindedness, bad hygiene, and his sister's vitriol towards him. Double D, on the other hand, has always been implied to be relatively new to the cul-de-sac, and his nerdy nature would make making new friends difficult, but, we see the other kids slowly warm up to Double D and even Ed in ways that Eddy never gets. As for Eddy, the clearly most hated and reviled, that hatred really comes from displaced anger towards Eddy's brother. Yes, Eddy tries to scam the kids, most likely in a pale comparison to the bullying and intimidation tactics his brother used to dish out. But, the kids could never stand up to Eddy's brother. So, once Eddy's brother leaves, Eddy is a much easier target for their scorn. They see Eddy as an extension of his brother and pushed him down from one of the most "popular" kids (at least, he was feared in public due to being associated with his brother, even though his brother treated him ten times worse than the other kids behind closed doors) to becoming a "dork." So, it makes perfect sense that once the kids saw how terribly Eddy's brother treated Eddy, they would accept him back into the cul-de-sac. The kids never had that big of a problem with Ed and Double D, they mostly just thought their idiosyncrasies were odd. It was because of their association with Eddy that they hated them, and it was really because of Eddy's association with Eddy's brother that they hated him. Eddy's scams were annoying, but mostly harmless, even, fairly often, fun for the other kids. The scams were never the source of their hatred for Eddy.
If the scams were truly the source of their hatred then I feel like none of the kids would've tried any of them. If you hate the scams so much, why pay?
to be fair, they weren't really hated until season 2, in season 1 they were mostly tolerated like classmates who make you roll your eyes by the stuff they do or say, like Rolf for instance is noticeably very friendly with them, while in later seasons he beats them up constantly, this is because in season 1 while they had their negative traits and personalities they weren't dialed up to 11, like they did with season 2 and onwards, like Eddy was selfish, greedy, lazy and irritable in season 1 but also had good things like when he stood up for Edd when Kevin bullied him for being weak, and Ed when his poor hygiene was getting uncontrollable, oh and Ed definitely wasn't as dumb in season 1, he usually at least knew what was going on, the episode which focuses on Eds bad hygiene wouldn't have even been possible in later seasons since he barely knows what's going on around him half the time so he definitely wouldn't have been able to learn all his lines from season 2 and onwards they basically got rid of all his positive traits and dialed up the negative ones to maximum making the other 2 Eds almost look like they aren't even considered friends by Eddy considering how much he pushes them around and how rarely he stood up for them , which made the Eds Eddy in particular the punching bag for the rest of the show, while in season 1 it was more balanced where they got a happy ending or their punishment wasn't 10x worse than what they actually deserved, plus the other kids usually got what they deserved as well when they were acting shitty, while in later seasons no matter what they did, they would very rarely get punished don't get me wrong, I like all the seasons and think all are good, some better than others, but I just think the characters were the most likeable in season 1 where they all had their flaws, but they weren't dialed up to the point of almost being caricatures
@@agbrenv I would account for all that due to getting a better understanding of what the show was, rather than pure flanderization. Totally valid that you preferred the kids when they were less extreme, but, for me at least, it seemed like the show didn't really hit its groove until season 2. I think the school season is the one that overdid it a bit, but the first season didn't overdo it enough. The Tex Avery, Looney Tunes elements were pushed harder from season 2 onwards, which I think gave the show its character. I think the three Eds still were very much friends in the next few seasons after the first, but I honestly preferred feeling like they were friends by circumstances that grew into true friends, rather than friends that picked each other from the start. They were friends, at first, because no one else would have them/the circumstances they were placed in by their parents. We all have friends like that when we're kids, having a small group of people to pick from but having no ability to widen our own peer group. I'd imagine a lot of the cul-de-sac kids will grow apart and not see each other much once they start moving away, with a few exceptions. But, not the Eds. Their friendship of circumstance grew into something deeper, and we see them fully acknowledge the brotherhood they've built with each other in the movie. We already saw that it was there, even when the boys didn't realize it, but we see their own realization during the swamp scene. They have their first real, possibly friendship ending fight, and they decided to fight for their friendship, even when it was hard. This is placed against the backdrop of stories like Kevin and Nazz, who pretty much find out the opposite. When the going gets tough, they don't stick it out for each other. So, again, totally get where you're coming from and I don't think you're wrong, just explaining my view on the Eds relationship and why I prefer a somewhat more belligerent tone. It speaks to the nature of childhood friendships, that it isn't a matter of choice, but what's there. But, the Eds show that, sometimes, really golden, lifelong friendships take work to build and aren't always perfect.
@@erinw4935 the film balances things out really well though, I think Eddys assholeness is toned down much more in the film, well the part where he does it out of anger/hatred or with bad intentions at least since he doesn't slam, push and knock the other Eds around out of anger and frustration as well as showing his caring side towards his friends as well which was very rarely seen after season 1 and before the movie yeah they were definitely friends in the other seasons as well but Eddy rarely treated them that way, especially Edd anyway, at the end of the day it doesn't matter all that much since I enjoy all the seasons
I have to disagree with you on how Ed should have been treated during Eddy and Double D's fight. It's really not out of character for Ed for the way he acted. He's just trying to stop his two best friends, maybe his only friends, from fighting in his own way. Sure Ed couldn't physically stop them, but he wanted to make them stop fighting in any way he could.
What makes the finale even more heartbreaking is that it ended right after the murder of Paul Boyd. R.I.P. Paul Boyd | 1967 - 2007 | “We miss you, you big lug.”
I hate so much that you ignore the episode when every kid thinks that double d is a bully, in that episode you can actually see how much the ed's like each other
The Mockingface Channel Eddy was surprisingly likable in the episode. Especially when he called Ed his pal, supported double d and kicked off the kankers.
@@GreaterGrievobeast55 probably why they cut it, but then again the eds met when the were toddlers so thats probably the only name she knew him as and his parents probably didn't give a shit what they called him because throughout the series its been implied ed comes from an abusive household.
@@brysonstiles6737 eds overwhelming fear of his parents (his mother especially), a few lines stating that his father is neglectful and uninterested in his family, his parents taking everything from his room including the stairs and leaving him in a box when hes grounded. Last but not least there was a line in honor thy ed where double d said "oh dear a shreak of terror" and ed responds with "dads home!"
I really liked how early in the movie the Eds make reference to the Wizard of Oz with the whole 'heart, brain and courage' thing and instead of being a one off gag it actually pays off in the end. Double D stands up to Eddy's brother despite the fact everyone in the cul-de-sac feared him, instead of using his inhuman strength, Ed uses his wits to take off the door hinges to catapult it towards Eddy's brother and Eddy has the heart to come clean about lying about how cool his brother is just for people to like him.
@@RawPower867 I mean the kids ARE aware he is a jerk to an extent as shown by how even Kevin was terrified of him. I don't know how far he went with the other kids but it was definitely enough for them to fear him, but what they *weren't* aware of was that Eddy was being abused by his own brother behind closed doors. That the one they hated likely out of association with his brother without any fear of serious threat suffered the worst of all of them.
@@RawPower867 In the movie, Eddy said he made up the stories about his brother, so it isn't too out of the question that the kids never met his brother, but he told them about his brother so they can respect him out of fear.
The Aesop of the movie is pretty heartwarming if you think about it. Eddy learned the hard way that he needed to be himself in order to get others to like him. Throughout the show, Eddy tried so hard to act mean like his brother because he thought that he would be accepted. It only caused the kids to dislike him. By getting beaten up by his brother, getting yelled at by Double-D, later admitting that he made up everything he said about his brother, and admitting why he acted the way he did, the kids were able to see things from Eddy's point of view and ended up forgiving and accepted him finally.
the second aesop i would take with the kids is stopping and realizing if someone you hate might need help or are the way they are due to a series of events
You know, the "Eddy confesses to Edd about being a foul-up wannabe loser" scene, and then Eddy tearfully telling everyone the truth about his big brother were both the final catalysts that sparked Eddy to finally grow up. Sure, helping Edd with his confidence issues through wrestling training in "Tag Yer Ed", letting Edd stay with him in "Momma's Little Ed", changing a light bulb on the Christmas tree in "Ed, Edd n Eddy's Jingle Jingle Jangle", and standing up for Edd against the Kankers in "A Fistful of Ed" were all enough to start Eddy on his way, but getting told by Edd that their friendship was over and then later telling the truth about his big brother were both the final shocks needed to show Eddy the light.
Fell Man There’s a video that explains what happened to him (he send a voice message to prove it was him to a fan account) and he basically said that he saw how easy, lucrative and interesting it was to operate the machinery. If that’s what ultimately made him happy, I think that’s the best.
The finale to Ed, Edd, n Eddy was truly a good ending. I'm glad everyone finally loved them in the end. Too bad Jonny and Plank will not ever get the chance to show their funny villainy.
Yikes, I remember watching this and crying forever afterwords. when I was little Ed Edd n Eddy was my favorite cartoon (tbh its still my favorite cartoon) and I used to always watch with my dad cuz we both loved it so much. I honestly bawled my eyes out so much at the end of this movie, my older sister had just moved out of the house recently and she had abused me for years without me telling anybody, and while I wasn't an a*shole like Eddy I was terribly quite and introverted and didn't have any friends, so I kinda related to Eddy in an odd way ...and I guess it triggered some bad memories... so yeah, this movie kinda has a special place for me and for whatever reason I can't bring myself to hate Eddy like I did when watching the show before, I dunno. .... Also, Sorry, I'm watching this late at night and this comment is kinda tired and word vomity.
Hope you're doing better, Pigen. Remember, your life is your life, and it's your responsibility to be yourself and live the best life that you can make for yourself. Godspeed, from one Ed, Edd n Eddy fan to another.
I feel like Ed Edd n Eddy could of gotten the 'SpongeBob treatment' In where CN decides to make the Eds their mascot, and milk the franchise to last forever. Imagine how that would have turned out.
@@QuadElementals I wouldn't praise SpongeBobs so well, yea It the most popular show and the old generation like myself loved It but now It shitty , to me they ruined the show, they also ruined the characters personalities , I can't stand watching the new SpongeBobs bc how the characters are, I started watching Gumball a year ago, It actually isn't bad ,there are some similarities that remind me of SpongeBobs but I like Gumball bc each episode have a interesting story ,
Another thing to add was how even the Kankers had some level of character development. Went out of there way to save the Ed’s and even wanted to stop the abuse from Eddys brother well Lee did. And actually showed genuine love when they embraced the Ed’s which they usually don’t show
The reason Sarah was smiling when Eddy was getting beat it up by his brother it was because for one reason; Sarah always treat Ed like that but when Eddy's brother beat up Double D she gets shocked realising the horrible way she was acting to Ed, that's why she hugs Ed at the background. I'm also very happy for that, Ed always loves his sister even if she act like a brat to him, so Ed finally got it
Danny Antonucci once said the inspiration for Double D’s hat was that when he was a kid he burned his hair off, and hid it from his parents with a skiing hat. My guess is Double D burned off his own hair permanently, and that’s why Ed and Eddy make so much fun about it. If it was a growth, or something serious, I don’t think Ed and Eddy would be so harsh about the jokes they’re making.
StarshotDirector could always just be a scar(s) that double D is hiding. People tend to be ashamed of scars. I know cause I have a huge one on my abdomen. People tend to ask Damn does that hurt, or look at the size of that what were you clawed by a bear. Eh who knows.
I would say my one complaint about the film is that when the Eds set up that camping spot, we were supposed to get a scene where Edd and Ed would reveal their backstory that played into how they acted throughout the series, but was unfortunately cut. Other than that, I love this movie.
Seeing as they grew up together I don't think it'd make sense for them to suddenly discuss it. Maybe if they were trying to figure out why that last scam went so wrong?
@@growlie2676 she just calling him a nickname. It’s not that hard to believe she call her brother by his nickname. My own brother everyone even the family all refer to him by using his nickname, instead of just his first name.
9:15 I think the reason Sarah got overpowered so easily is that they have already established that she is weaker by the episode "run for your ed" were the kankers are looking for their ship in the bottle
I know this is three years old, but hey comments all feed the algorithm right? Anyways, I don't mean to logic a show renounced for being illogical but... Sarah's younger than the main cast and the sisters are older than them. Which means the Kanker sisters probably have a disproportionate advantage over her. They look like they're hitting puberty, whereas Sarah is still a child, maybe like 8-10?
I think the real reason is the show has hinted a few times that Sarah is a paper tiger. She screams at and threatens others to get her way, but when she meets someone who’s not intimidated, she buckles pretty quickly.
Poor Eddy was an abused younger sibling and it was heartbreaking but followed by a wholesome finale. My favorite childhood cartoon. A strong way to end the story.
They pretty much confirmed in this movie that Plank is the most powerful being in their universe. Not only is he sentient, but he surpasses sapience with his ability to control the world around him with only his mind, of which the inter-mechanisms are an enigma.
It was a really heartwarming moment when the kids of the cul de sac ended up comforting and liking Eddy at the end of this series, as they saw first-hand why Eddy acted the way he did. They saw the physical abuse he obviously took when his brother was still living with him and see that caused Eddy to have post traumatic issues. Was really nice to see them understand and have the series end on everyone being friends and Eddy finally having acceptance, and inevitably learning that you don't have to lie or act "cool" for others to like you, to just not be an asshole like his brother, that fear is not respect. I'm glad the series ended like this rather than the way most series end with the characters grown up and leaving with not really much closure or explanations as to what happened to them. This was a perfect ending to the Ed-Boys, and one that lets us all assume Eddy slowly learned how to be social without being a total prick and became friends with the kids who used to hate him, and that Ed and Double-D got easily brought into the larger circle of friends in the cul de sac as they were only avoided because they hung out with Eddy who was a total prick.
what you talking about, Sarah always feared the Kankers, you should rewatch the Ship inna Bottle episode "run for your ed" Also, imma debunk something: Eddy always appreciated Ed & Edd. You can see that in the episode where Double D is feared by the rest of the cast in "A Fistful of Ed" where Eddy tells Double D "Don't you think you went a little hard on Ed? He _is_ our pal you know?" and at the end of the same episode when Double D is surrounded by the Kankers Eddy stands up for him and tells them "HE'S HAD ENOUGH" and then gives him and Ed a hotdog, Eddy always cared for them, but he always tried to maintain a "cool guy" facade. I hope you actually read this... you acknowledged that people criticised you after the previous episode, but never why or addresed the criticism...
I agree. He just has a warped view of what is acceptable for banter after the onslaught of abuse from his brother. He always took jokes too far or had them mean spirited in nature.
the reason why the beginning was different was because the person who made the title cards in the show passed away :( i think it’s believed that’s why the show ended, too
Thats not excatly true. Paul Boyd directed the animation of the theme song. The show's title cards were actually created by Kathy Boake W and she is still alive. But she was not involved in the production of the film.
Thank you for featuring my dad's name in this video (he's Mike Kubat, one of the writers for the movie). He wrote most of the episodes from the show as well. It's really nice to see you reviewing something that has shaped my entire childhood and surrounded my life since he started work for them back when I was just a baby. Thank you for this honest review! I will definitely send it his way
Minor correction over the PPG movie: it *wasn't* the final "episode" of the series, In fact it was actually an _origin story_ on how the girls began and connects them to Mojo Jojo. It's still a good film, but should have been released to TV instead of theaters.
Amazing review! And agree fully, the restaurant comparison to writing a story is exactly how I feel, good writing doesn't leave gaps of void, everything that was emphasized as a big deal is explained. And yes, Ed needed more character treatment. Did you know: A storyboard artist on the show revealed in forums that there were deleted scenes in this movie? Primarily, when the Eds are around the campfire, they speak into depth about each other's character backgrounds! Ed explains that his real first name is not even ED! He just made it that to be like his first hero: Eddy. Which is a great reference to Eddy in the earlier season, as Ed and Edd looked up to him for various reasons. The writers thought Ed's name should be Stanley, but Danny Antonucci thought Bob would be hilarious. Edd reveals WHY he is the way he is! Before moving and meeting Eddy and Ed as children, Double D was picked on at school in a different town with dodgeball, and vengefully creates a dodge-ball cannon,, inflicting serious harm on the children, causing him to be Massively guilty, explaining a lot in episodes like "A fistful of Ed", where he Heavily is terrified of being considered violent. He proceeds to tell the story and pulls a newspaper article out of his hat that shows him guilty of seriously harming children. This also led to a lot of fan theories that the injury under his hat was from the "dodge ball incident" mentioned in the official Ed, Edd n Eddy character guide, and in the episode where Eddy trains Jimmy to be a mini scam artist. However, this was not confirmed and the whole mystery of what was under his hat was purposely left as a secret to keep the fans wondering. Also unfortunate, when Eddy is asked about his background, he lies more about his brother being great. Then, Ed pulls out rotten gravy that the Ed's either are exposed to or consume, and leads into a 3D animation hallucination scene! I know, right?! I couldn't believe it either. That's why the Eds wake up in different spots from when they fell asleep in. They cut the whole idea out though. There were a few other cuts but that was the major one. I also feel like I remember seeing an interview of Danny talking about a possible approach to Ed, Edd n Eddy in the future, but that doesn't seem likely and is satisfied with the ending. The more you know!
Double D was always my favorite character. He always had a chance to fit in with the others. Every encounter he had with the rest of the kids including Kevin and Sarah was always a lot friendlier than how they would treat Ed or Eddy. He cared for everyone and I like to think Double D became best friends with the lesser 2 because nobody else would.
BlackClaw2 I actually think its better this way because nothing they could have shown would have been able to match the hype. The show has already shown so much grotesque imagery that Double D’s head wouldn’t be all that crazy even if it was nasty, it would just be another gross out shot. But by never showing it, it not only leaves it to the viewers imagination but it also adds to the mythos behind it. If it was shown, suddenly everyone would care less, but by not showing it we are still here talking about it 10 years later.
Yeah, it's hyped was too strong. I think the only way they could've revealed it was to have a special or movie entirely devoted to that plot point haha. To make it really fitting
Along with Jimmy, Kevin, and Sarah, Eddy was one of those characters I used to hate a lot but found him more tolerable since he was one of the Eds. I hated how he would treat Double D, whom was my favourite character, and Ed. However, as I rewatched the episodes, I started realising that Eddy was indeed caring more than he let on, was ambitious and gifted in coming up with countless ideas to earn money, and was the only one (if I remember correctly) that wasn't afraid to face the Kanker sisters at times while everyone else feared them.
To give Sarah some credit; she did ended up started to feel bad after Eddy was smashed into Double Dee; looking scared as Jimmy as screaming and even joining Kevin to stare angrily at Eddy’s bro, and even rushing to see if Eddy is ok after the door Eddy was holding onto ended up slamming into Eddy’s brother’s face.
I kind of like how Ed is a bit distracting in that scene tbh. That's just simply his character and he's done it countless other times. Just kind of barging into the moment, often using his one liners. I think this is just showing Ed's personality. For me it feels natural. Like as if this is exactly what would happen among a trio of friends if we had that one friend who was like Ed in a situation like this. Apart from that disagreement, I am on board with your opinions on this finale. Great review.
There's a yes and no. It's totally in-character for Ed. And, honestly I didn't find it bad. It "feels natural", as you said. However, you see Edd and Eddy develop and...Ed doesn't? ----- If I order a slice of chocolate cake or apple pie for desert, as long as it isn't outright shit then I'll be happy. But that doesn't mean I wouldn't wish it came with some ice cream on the side. And the Edd/Eddy drama-growth was some damn fine chocolate cake. But I can still be a little sad that there was no Ed ice cream on the side.
@@onijester56 Well, you know how the old saying goes. "Some things never change." Idk if you ever watched Friends, but Joey in that show is very much the same way from beginning to end. We all have that one friend who always stays the same, for better or worse. Change is good, but sometimes it's fine just the way it is. And with Ed in particular, I feel like it would've likely done more harm than good given the way he is.
Couple notes: I kinda disagree with Ed being muted, if anything he just kind of drives in how they are 3 amigos and without double d they aren't the 3 amigos anymore. Also the scene with Johnny on the bus kinda calls back to that one episode where they made a city out of boxes and Johnny gets really terrified around the card board people. Great video!
How did I miss this? The three Ed's viewed Jawbreakers as the meaning of life, because that is all they had and the other kids didn't like them. They did what they did to get Jawbreakers. I liked their ingenuity. I'm glad that in the end they were accepted by the Cul-de-sac kids.
The other kids definitely liked the jawbreakers, Kevin’s dad worked at the jawbreaker factory and all the kids in the cul-de-sac are enjoying them in an episode.
Now this leaves no mysteries no plot holes just a great ending to a good show. That's how you end a show. Steven universe future should have taken notes.
Ed, Edd n Eddy is one of those rare shows that was consistently funny throughout its run and the series definitely ended on a high. It was nice to see the Edds finally getting accepted by the other kids of the cul-de-sac before the show ended
11:13 Keep in mind that was not the only time Janyse Jaud played two roles in the same show. She was also the voice of both the sultry, deep-voiced wind sorceress Kagura and the quiet yet lethal little albino girl with the soul-stealing mirror Kanna from Inuyasha.
I've always seen her treatment of Ed as a learned behavior: From how their home life is (with her in a ground floor bedroom with toys and big bed and him living in the basement and actually having his stairs removed because he was "grounded" by his parents), Sarah is CLEARLY the favorite child of their parents. Either from being a better student, being their "little princess" or heck just being the baby of the family. Ed seems to just be so used to the treatment he doesn't even think it's strange or unhealthy which may fuel it, but I think there are rare moments where Sarah shows she cares about her brother (in a whole "only I can beat up or mess with my brother" sort of way)
@@growlie2676 biggest example in my head at the moment is in the movie. She gets defensive over Ed, but moreso is also just defensive of Eddy at the time due to his brother being rude and violent, so it's sort of paired off with that occurrence. I'd need to rewatch the show to find the moments I was thinking of when initially commenting, but that's the first that sticks out to me
I was already in college by the time this movie came out, and it was such a perfect ending to one of my childhood favorites. The biggest highlights for me were the new locations, Double-D and Eddy's fight, and revealing Eddy's brother. Not to mention Eddy's brother gave one of the most TERRIFYING grins in animation. Huh, I never noticed Sarah smiling during the climax. That's pretty messed up. If anything, she should've been the outcast in the end, not Jonny and Plank.
Their choice to not only reveal Eddy's brother(when they RARELY ever show other characters, especially adults.) What made it better was the breaking of the illusion that his brother was this great wonderful person. We got bits and pieces of his brothers cruel nature through things like his fake Halloweem map and the shipping of baby toys to Eddy. But seeing Eddy get abused shows a painful side to Eddy's life, as well as a deep index into his personality. This movie was done so well.
Even then there were always hints that Eddy’s brother actually wasn’t a good person. Remember the episode when Eddy says his brother is coming, and of course when his ‘brother’ shows up he’s scared.
I think i’m about to cry, I love this show with all my heart and Eddy is always my favorite, seing him admit everything like that breaks my heart, it was so cute and well done, we Will never forget this show and it’s a big inspiration for allot of people💕💗
Underrated about the ending is THAT Eddy learned his lesson. Through his journey with his pals he learned to accept responsibility for his actions and in his conflict with his brother he has the lies and facade of "cool guy emulating his big brother" stripped away. So he can finally develop as his own person.Eddy is demonstrably intelligent. he's brash, quick-witted, persistent, is great at understanding and reading others, and is pretty driven and innovative to boot. we see this throughout the series. Problem is that he doesn't accept himself or responsibility for his actions. So he puts on a front to try to be cool. This was his movie. He NEEDED to be humbled and to confront this aspect of himself before he could be accepted. so when he prostrates himself and sincerely apologises ready to accept his punishment, it's satisfying to see him be accepted in response. He's LEARED HIS LESSON. So you don't get the sense he'll revert back. This is a permenant change for the better. That's something that really made it great for me.
Big Picture Show definitely looks to be take place in the Spring, the opening shots of the flowers blown in the air on a bright sunny day, to the Eds going through a tall sunflower field and then to Ed and Eddy running over a bunch of flowers while looking for food the next morning, this is an underrated thing to look at but Ed, Edd n Eddy really feels like it has been through all seasonal weather transitions over the course of the series that I really liked as after the Big Picture Show the Eds goes into a new Summer as good friends with the other kids.
I thought it was springtime as welll, but when Kevin and Nazz crash at that farmstand, the trees are full of ripe peaches, which ripen in summer, not spring.
I think one of the things that really made this a pay off for me, apart from Double D and Eddy finally having it out, was the fact that we finally get to see the root of why Eddy is the way he is. The kid is desperately trying to reach the mythical levels of cool he always placed on his brother. Especially when he talks about how people respected him when he was with his brother. Everything Eddy does is to try to reach a point where he'll be that cool so he can show his brother he isn't still just little "pipsqueak." But, we also see that Eddy's relationship with his brother was completely toxic. All of the selfishness and narcissism Eddy has is either learned from or a reaction to his brother. And remember, the other kids don't really know his brother any. They fear him. They know of wild rumors about him either spread by Eddy himself or it's almost hinted at by other siblings we never see. But, I think finally seeing Eddy's hero come out and begin to harass and humiliate him in front of everyone was a watershed for them as well as us. It doesn't mean Eddy is innocent of all he's done, but they were told all the same things about how cool he was as we were and yet here he is, not a hero but a tyrant. It instantly puts Eddy into clear perspective and you can't really help but feel sorry for him. Especially when he finally opens up and admits it's all bull. Will this stop Eddy from scamming people? Probably not. And we do see them as senior citizens where it appears the overall relationship dynamics haven't fundamentally changed between everyone. But, I'm sure as they moved on into adulthood, things normalized.
The senior citizen episode was actually meant to be the series finale before the show was given another season to run. At the time, it only made sense that the dynamics and relationships hadn't changed since you've had 4 seasons to develop characters and pulling a 180 with Eddy being accepted wouldn't make sense. Personally, I don't think Eddy would continue scamming. I think with the new resources and morals he's learned, he could apply himself to become a legitimate businessman. He's already got the charisma and cutthroat attitude, but the crucial ingredient to all businesses are happy customers satisfied with the product being sold to them. He was able to do it before by repurposing turkey basters as water guns and he can do it again.
The scene where the Eds are camping out in the state park was meant to have TWO huge bits: We would finally learn about the "Dodgeball Incident" Eddy tries to warn then about Bro, but Ed and Edd ignore him. Eventually Ed shares expired gravy with them, which causes them to have a claymation nightmare about all their faults. The ending was supposed to have Eddy realizing Ed and Double D were the brothers he's always wished to have and turning on his own brother. Alternate endings involving the police arresting Bro. They were cut because the writers weren't sure on how to build the scene without the physical appareance of the cops, and having the kids say what the cops told them would be a cheat.
This movie was bittersweet to me. I grew up with this show and so much changed for me not long after that if felt like a mark towards the end to my own childhood. I absolutely loved it!
I really agree with the Food analogy Steve talked about. A good finale should fill you up nicely. But for me, Personally, Finale's make me sad. They make you feel like, "That's it! Show's over folks. The lives of these characters are now closed and done. Period." The only thing that can make you feel better after a series finale, Is to watch the first episode of a new series. Something to look forward to in the future. (Fore example: Going from Star Vs. towards The owl House.) Another comment: There NEEDS to exist a complete series box set for the Ed boys. All 130+ episodes, 4 specials, 1 movie, TV trailers, Behind the scenes documentary, And commentary for every episode by the people working on the show. All of these combined into a solid presentable DVD box set. Because if this exists for Gravity Falls and Adventure Time, Then why not do the same for the Eds??
I’m just happy when I see people still remembering and reminiscing about this show. This was such a big part of my childhood and hearing other people discuss it just makes smile
Ed, Edd n Eddy's Big Picture Show as well as the tv series may have their ups and downs, but that's what makes them interesting, in fact EENE is still one of my all time favorite cartoons on CN to this day it's such a classic that i hope it never gets a revival or a reboot.
I think my favorite line in this movie is when Ed proclaims, "I am Ed! Cheese and Macaroni!!!!! Also, 6:43 my sentiments exactly. I don't think even the four depravities from Saló would feed would feed their captives the kind of crap Sarah is made of.
6:45 really wish Ed could kicked Sarah's ass at some point, we know he can he's way stronger than her and if he wasn't so nice she wouldn't be able to stop him.
I just love how this ending made everyone look like they're growing up and through out the movie they grow up and deal with things adults do it was a great ending to an amazing episode. And when Double D puts his iconic sticker saying "The End" I cried kan
@@gabriellitewski7988 I hear some fans want to make a series with Ed, Edd n Eddie as teenagers at the end of high-school. It's called Peach Creek. It has adult humor and language, so depending on how old you are right now, you might need to wait on watching it.
I must point out; if it weren't for the Ed's always scamming and running wild in the cul-de-sac, Johnny would be the most hated kid in the neighborhood.
Was nice to see the animation return to the classic style, that was a BIG plus! In terms of whatever's underneath Double D's hat, I'm glad they didn't reveal it. There's no answer they could give that wouldn't be either underwhelming for how much it was built up, or overwhelming with how crazy it went. This is why Eddy's brother being revealed works so well. It completely subverts our expectation in a natural way that we accept, because OF COURSE Eddy is an unreliable narrator. In short, Double D's hatless head would be a plot reveal, and plot reveals often fall flat, whereas Eddy's brother is a character reveal in that it informs us about the character of Eddy
When did Sarah ever really care for Ed's well being? Or anything that wasn't Jimmy or herself for that matter? Also, I might not remember this right, but I think the deal was if it was a full on movie. Being a TV movie, it might have just been a halfway thing.
I kinda wish that in the movie were the kankers were basically useing Sarah and jimmy as slaves and then Sarah would now want to actually help her brother now that she realized how grateful it is to have a very nice older sibling instead of mean one
5:38 Having re-watched the Big Picture Show multiple times over the years, I always find myself coming back to this particular scene. Ed was seemingly content with that being the end of his road, not even really fighting it with a sad "See ya" as he get pulled away. The fact that not only Double D, but EDDY, immediately spring into action to save him shows just how close they all have grown as friends. One, ready to lay himself on the line so the others could escape, and his best friends not letting him be left behind. Cause at the ED of it all, they only really had each other. Even 'selfish' Eddy couldn't loose one of the only people that meant more to him than money. It's small, it's barley even 15 seconds, but that one scene I feel really goes to show how the Eds have changed and bonded for the course of the show.
The reason the final episode was “run of the mill” was because... it wasn’t meant to be the final episode. The show ended abruptly, so the last season was only 4 episodes, two being longer specials supposed to be spaced out, the christmas and halloween specials.
Someone further up gave an explanation why. The man in charge of making the opening title cards was murdered by Canadian police, and at that point had only made I think 2 title cards for the two episodes. Unfortunately the police responsible were cleared.
@@anonymouswind1 I doubt that would end the entire show, they could've hired a new artist, its not like the scriptwriters, animators, editors and the whole shebang wait for the title card to finish the episode.
@@anonymouswind1 Thats not excatly true. Paul Boyd directed the animation of the theme song. The show's title cards were actually created by Kathy Boake W and she is still alive. But she was not involved in the production of the film. The real reason Season 6 was shortened because Danny Anntouncci was getting approval from Cartoon Network to focus on the movie.
When I seen this film when I was like 10, 19 now, it never hit me of the abuse thrown out towards Eddy, shown the true version of himself, trying to fit in with everyone, while raised in a part of a family where he is forced to salvage his own self by what is given. Treated unfairly just because of, and I see his scams more based on this idea, is based on not being cared enough by parents or the idea that this influence has been put down from his brother, probably from fear of being attacked by him again or told to do this out of threat. One of the most obnoxious characters has a seemingly dark history portrayed through so much of the episodes and from the reveal of his own brother.
Loved this review. It hit close to home being a fan of this show and watching it with my brother. I truly miss the days just sitting by the tv after I got out of school and getting lost in this show. It’s heart breaking that this was the final episode, but all things must come to an end and it truly was a hell of an ending.
this finale was probably one of the more complete finales for any show I have watched. I think the reason he left out what was under double d's hat was because they never came up with something that would quite fit the entire plot of the show. That's the thing. This finale wasn't just the trailings left of from another season....it actually brought elements throughout the entire season into play. solving some long mysteries....but also including some elements not shown before. planks animation. actually stealing the bus. johnny always thought he was sentient, and the show hinted at it several times. there was never really much proof. but then....there it was. plank was stealing a damn bus. no explanation needed! Plank does things. The kankers and what seemed like a creepy obsession now brought into light as you said. they had some kind of heart for them. there are a few others. but over all. after watching the finale....It offered closure not only because it resolved questions. but offered explanations to things we just thought were funny. sarah is a bitch. that's just a fact. lol. we thought eddie was selfish, but sarah ONLY did things that suited her or benefited her in some kind of way.
Ya know who ELSE had an emotional Cartoon Network finale? ...Samurai Jack. He was the last of the Eds' era, and he marked the true ending to our childhood full of Cartoon Network's greatest hits.
The Codename Kids Next Door finale was pretty emotional too. Though the episode itself wasn't perfect, the final scenes of it where goodbyes were being exchanged was amazing.
Then you realise that in the episode where it turns out Eddy is an old man reminscing about his childhood all these changes seem to have been undone. I wonder what they did to get on the kids bad sides again
Haven’t seen the ending of Adventure Time but as for BoJack Horseman, they sort of took your formula and created that second to last episode as the crescendo finale, but the *last* episode was sort of one of the most cathartic epilogues ever done. “Sometimes life’s a bitch and then you keep living.” is a brilliant tag line for the final episode and for the show as a whole.
At the end of the movie the Eds trio gets the best character developments that completed their redemption arcs at their best by learning from their past mistakes as well as the Cul de Sac kids minus Johnny & Plank accepts them for the first time as friends in the end.
Seeing his brother really explains why Eddy is the way he is.
Yeah...
It was a great addition
Abuse does things to people. Horrifying things. It doesn't justify acting negatively towards others, but it can construe your thoughts of what is right and wrong and how to act as a member of society. Why I'm glad the kids were understanding in the end once they actually met and saw Eddy's brother, and were willing to befriend Eddy and doing so help him be a better person.
@@doublem5679 Yeah. :( I hope Eddy (hypothetically) continued having help and love as they all grew older.
@@unripetheberrby6283 i'm sure he did as that's the note the writers ended on.
Still one of the best cartoon show finales in history.
A M ah yes, i love that this show got a propper ending, and was not cancelled out of the blue.
For me the finale is one of the MANY reasons why this is one of the greatest cartoons of all time
Yup🙌🙌🙌🙌
@Strainul Misterios I think the finale of courage was the episode where Muriel and Eustache were turned into puppets
The ending reveal with Eddy's brother was the most epic thing I had ever seen as a kid. A new character finally introduced to the series after so many years.
Not only a new character, but an adult reveal
@@newromanianmappernrm4420 I think I remember that. I wouldn't blame Double D, dodgeball fucking sucked
Seeing the Eds finally get accepted by the neighborhood kids was one of the most satisfying endings in cartoon history.
honestly if edd,ed,eddy was not a comedic cartoon it would likely be a teen drama
Is this the end of the good for cartoons
I often wish I was able to go back in time and redo my mistakes!!!!!

The entire film in context is actually pretty dark, but also noble from Eddy's perspective. He KNOWS the whole time he'll have to let his brother hurt him in order to stay with him. However he really believes the kids will hurt his friends worse, so he's willing to take the pain.
😬 Yikes, that's depressingly deep.
That's not why it happened. Eddy let himself get beat up because he was helpless against someone bigger and meaner. Not because of his friends.
Mmmmm I think it's more that Eddy started buying his own con about his brother...
Problem is, if they HAD revealed what was beneath Double-D's hat, it would have been an awful disappointment no matter what.
I would personally love to see what it was, just to get some closure, but honestly, nothing they could think of would actually be worth all the build-up.
Wow, I thought the board writers revealing Edd’s back story was common knowledge by now.
EWOODJ whats his backstory? Is it that dodgeball accident thing?
@@Meechie2015_BigMeezyCLE. Throughout the entire seasons, one episode shows the Eds playing a mock dodgeball which is there Double D seems to be really scared and began to panic on sight like he is having severe PTSD when he looks at the dodgeball that Eddy was about to throw at him.

All in all, it was corruption at its finest, and justice was not served.

yes, it's canon in the manga, can't believe the netflix adaptation cut it out
Where can I find the manga? I would looove to read it
I would likely see the manga version. Take my 25 cents.
There's an E.E.a.E Manga

Great summary dude

Thank You!
I never put Johnny 2x4 together and you just blew my mind after twenty seven years
Personally I would have called the movie Ed Edd n Eddy: Ed of the Road. (Like a play on the phrase end of the road)
That's actually a very good one 👍

Oh that’s a good one
Damn you'd think they would, but I guess it's too late now

His stuff was more serious than scams
even in other episode it implied Eddy parents were aware of his brothrs treatment of him and the other kids around him and kick him out of the house and the reason why they get him clothes is for him to become the man of the house and the reason why Eddy parents wanted to get rid of the magazines was to rid themeselfs of anything that was eddy brother
Yet the kankers are ruled ad more evil than him
@@comicbookreviewer4856 Also his room was sealed off.
I feel like Ed didn't need to be silent, he just needed some more serious lines. "What do we do, Eddy?! I don't want Double D to go away!"
Yeah or him just breaking down
All of the Eds really had terrible family lives if you think about it:
Ed had been psychologically abused: Didn’t have many possessions, treasured his comics as he wasn’t given many “real” books and they took away the freaking stairs when he was grounded. Plus, they babied Sarah and enabled her to be manipulative and verbally abusive towards Ed (screaming at him, bossing him around, breaking what few possessions he had, etc.)
Edd’s parent’s were neglectful.
I’m so happy that in the end, everyone around them finally accepted them despite their oddities which is what they were always looking for❤️
I wouldn't say Edd's parents are bad. In "Momma's Little Ed", he says that his parents give him a massage before bed, so clearly they are good to him.
They see Eddy as an extension of his brother and pushed him down from one of the most "popular" kids (at least, he was feared in public due to being associated with his brother, even though his brother treated him ten times worse than the other kids behind closed doors) to becoming a "dork."
So, it makes perfect sense that once the kids saw how terribly Eddy's brother treated Eddy, they would accept him back into the cul-de-sac.
If you hate the scams so much, why pay?
to be fair, they weren't really hated until season 2, in season 1 they were mostly tolerated like classmates who make you roll your eyes by the stuff they do or say, like Rolf for instance is noticeably very friendly with them, while in later seasons he beats them up constantly, this is because in season 1 while they had their negative traits and personalities they weren't dialed up to 11, like they did with season 2 and onwards, like Eddy was selfish, greedy, lazy and irritable in season 1 but also had good things like when he stood up for Edd when Kevin bullied him for being weak, and Ed when his poor hygiene was getting uncontrollable, oh and Ed definitely wasn't as dumb in season 1, he usually at least knew what was going on, the episode which focuses on Eds bad hygiene wouldn't have even been possible in later seasons since he barely knows what's going on around him half the time so he definitely wouldn't have been able to learn all his lines
from season 2 and onwards they basically got rid of all his positive traits and dialed up the negative ones to maximum making the other 2 Eds almost look like they aren't even considered friends by Eddy considering how much he pushes them around and how rarely he stood up for them , which made the Eds Eddy in particular the punching bag for the rest of the show, while in season 1 it was more balanced where they got a happy ending or their punishment wasn't 10x worse than what they actually deserved, plus the other kids usually got what they deserved as well when they were acting shitty, while in later seasons no matter what they did, they would very rarely get punished
don't get me wrong, I like all the seasons and think all are good, some better than others, but I just think the characters were the most likeable in season 1 where they all had their flaws, but they weren't dialed up to the point of almost being caricatures
@@erinw4935 the film balances things out really well though, I think Eddys assholeness is toned down much more in the film, well the part where he does it out of anger/hatred or with bad intentions at least since he doesn't slam, push and knock the other Eds around out of anger and frustration as well as showing his caring side towards his friends as well which was very rarely seen after season 1 and before the movie
yeah they were definitely friends in the other seasons as well but Eddy rarely treated them that way, especially Edd
anyway, at the end of the day it doesn't matter all that much since I enjoy all the seasons

But certainly they already knew who Eddy's brother was, didn't they? He used to live in the neighborhood. How did they not know that he was a jerk?
@@RawPower867 I mean the kids ARE aware he is a jerk to an extent as shown by how even Kevin was terrified of him. I don't know how far he went with the other kids but it was definitely enough for them to fear him, but what they *weren't* aware of was that Eddy was being abused by his own brother behind closed doors. That the one they hated likely out of association with his brother without any fear of serious threat suffered the worst of all of them.
Double D was always the bravest.
@@RawPower867 In the movie, Eddy said he made up the stories about his brother, so it isn't too out of the question that the kids never met his brother, but he told them about his brother so they can respect him out of fear.
All the kids didn't fear him. Naz was excited to see him so they could go hiking (i think). They all had a different reaction, not all negative.

Sarah even has a crush on Edd lol
_Ed Edd and Eddy Big Picture Show is the perfect example of how to end a cartoon series with a Grand Finale. It's one of my all time favorites._
The only thing I didn’t like about this movie is that it never showed us what was under Double D’s hat.
BlackClaw2 it will forever be a mystery
It is pure perfection that we would witness, our hearts could never turn back

The moment rolf threw Kevin in to fight I lost it I remember dying of laughter the first time I seen it
I kind of like how Ed is a bit distracting in that scene tbh.

What is frusturating with Sarah is how she despises her brother. Even tho her brother clearly cares for her.
Ed seems to just be so used to the treatment he doesn't even think it's strange or unhealthy which may fuel it, but I think there are rare moments where Sarah shows she cares about her brother (in a whole "only I can beat up or mess with my brother" sort of way)
Yeah even Mandy showed concern for Billy and Grim and Irwin to a lesser extend in a few episodes and even Bloo showed convern for Mac on Halloween
@@anyaarcadia9166 What were those rare moments actually?
Their choice to not only reveal Eddy's brother(when they RARELY ever show other characters, especially adults.)
What made it better was the breaking of the illusion that his brother was this great wonderful person.
11:53 real smooth transition there. Real smooth.
Overrated*
Big Picture Show definitely looks to be take place in the Spring, the opening shots of the flowers blown in the air on a bright sunny day, to the Eds going through a tall sunflower field and then to Ed and Eddy running over a bunch of flowers while looking for food the next morning, this is an underrated thing to look at but Ed, Edd n Eddy really feels like it has been through all seasonal weather transitions over the course of the series that I really liked as after the Big Picture Show the Eds goes into a new Summer as good friends with the other kids.
Exactly! I really love that the weather seasons show continuity within the series.
I thought it was springtime as welll, but when Kevin and Nazz crash at that farmstand, the trees are full of ripe peaches, which ripen in summer, not spring.
To me, this finale is one of the MANY reasons why this is one of the greatest cartoons of all time.
The scene where the Eds are camping out in the state park was meant to have TWO huge bits:
We would finally learn about the "Dodgeball Incident"
Eddy tries to warn then about Bro, but Ed and Edd ignore him.
(Fore example: Going from Star Vs. towards The owl House.)
Another comment: There NEEDS to exist a complete series box set for the Ed boys.
It was so wholesome when everyone sings "friends are there to help you". Just having that song return for this final moment was perfect.
Yep, even if the episode it came from, If It Smells like an Ed, wasn't that great. I think having the song at the end of the movie was more fitting.
You have issues. I know she's an annoying loud character but that is really fucked up.
@@AnAverageGoblin Loud, she regularly abuses the Eds both physically and emotionally, she has more than earned an ass kicking.
@@thefanwithoutaface8105 Slapstick abuse aside you are wishing assault on a small child.
@@AnAverageGoblin Notice you didn't have an answer for the emotional abuse.
he did it in the halloween special
I just love how this ending made everyone look like they're growing up and through out the movie they grow up and deal with things adults do it was a great ending to an amazing episode. And when Double D puts his iconic sticker saying "The End" I cried kan
Does it mean that will be no more kids cartoons?
I want to time travel!!!!!
Pretty much. Hell one of the Eds scams involve using Johnny’s annoyance
An adult swim show about the ed boys as room mates would so cool as long as it keeps the timeless charm of the original.
Nobody:
Ed: *I collect sponges Eddy*
I can't believe I've seen this entire show, from the premier of the series, to the premier of the tv movie.. It's ingrained into my soul... '_'
When did Sarah ever really care for Ed's well being? Or anything that wasn't Jimmy or herself for that matter?
Also, I might not remember this right, but I think the deal was if it was a full on movie. Being a TV movie, it might have just been a halfway thing.
"Somebody save my stupid brother!" -Honor Thy Ed, I think. The one with the 'haunted house' with the Kankers inside.
"Someone help my idiot brother!" - Sarah, Honor Thy Ed
I kinda wish that in the movie were the kankers were basically useing Sarah and jimmy as slaves and then Sarah would now want to actually help her brother now that she realized how grateful it is to have a very nice older sibling instead of mean one

Having re-watched the Big Picture Show multiple times over the years, I always find myself coming back to this particular scene.
@@MrKlausbaudelaire no but the creator of the show got really depressed and canceled it from what I heard
@@TrueBladeSoul Well thats a decision I can respect. Plus the show was already running on the last lap anyway.
9:34 In Swedish, "tant" means "an old lady", so the joke got even dirtier in the dub. Still can't believe they kept it in.
Sex an old lady. Intriguing
I always thought that the A.K.A logo was what lied under double d's hat.
🤔 Why do you say that?
The only Cartoon Network finale more emotional than this one was regular show’s
Pops
The only time i would like TTG is when it's finally over
Ya know who ELSE had an emotional Cartoon Network finale?
...Samurai Jack. He was the last of the Eds' era, and he marked the true ending to our childhood full of Cartoon Network's greatest hits.
@@kamentrainerhorn2073 I thought you were gonna say “my mom” lol
The Codename Kids Next Door finale was pretty emotional too. Though the episode itself wasn't perfect, the final scenes of it where goodbyes were being exchanged was amazing.
Then you realise that in the episode where it turns out Eddy is an old man reminscing about his childhood all these changes seem to have been undone. I wonder what they did to get on the kids bad sides again
Eddy could have just kept telling stories after that episode.
That was originally supposed to be the finale too
I don't know if it's canon though.
Cringeivore
That episode is non canon. That was MEANT to be the ending but they changed it.
@@thecollector4332 So basically a ret-con?
Missed you, Steve
