Genesis - Supper's Ready ( acoustic guitar lesson), part 1

Supper’s Ready has stayed with me from the very first listen. It can be played and sung on using one guitar, but it is of course a bit thin! Nevertheless, it's very satisfying to play even a truncated version.
So here it is! The first few sections are broken down, with some ideas on how to arrange it for solo guitar and voice. Really get inside the story and enjoy! I couldn't possibly sing it in Peter's key, but as long as we use our full range, that's okay, isn't it?

Hi John. Thanz for sharing your tutorial. Absolutely great and easy to play. I don´t know where you got the chords from but its is absolutely brilliant. I will share it with all my musician friends. This is one of my early Genesis favourite tunes. Thanx once again. Your tutorial is absolutely enlightening.
Thanks, Mark - great to hear from you, and do let me know if you’d like me to have a go at anything else. As for working the chords out, mostly I can just hear and see the guitar parts. Because the chord voicing is so rich, and therefore impossible to play fully on one guitar, there’s a lot of scope for picking out some of the essential ideas. I guess the most important thing is hearing the chord progressions. I can try to explain myself on the next song!
Btw, my friend , David Severn, sent me some wonderful lyrics, and I think it’s turned into a beautiful song - I hope to play it soon on Facebook or TH-cam. It would be good to get your feedback. I’ve removed most of my TH-cam videos because they weren’t being watched, but it would be good to have another go. - so suggest away!

Intreging how the language of chords and tones translates into sound from brain to fingers
