Sometimes a kundalini experience can be mistaken for bipolar disorder or other mental disorders.
Here is an account of my experience from December, 2008.

I just made videos on something similar. I was diagnosed with bipolar type 1 as a teen and last year I had a near death-like experience. It was very spontaneous and I never meditated before that or nothing. I saw source energy, holographic, images, and was in a state of shock. Afterward I began free writing. Intense Realization. It felt like spiritual rebirth and I haven't had an issue since. Thank you for sharing

I had a full blown kundalini crisis 10 years ago a few months after a big awakening experience. Took me about 5 years to put myself back together... A gift and a curse.

@aparaajita10 I'm sorry to disagree, but when I mentioned the term "kundalini" to the leaders there, they had no idea what I was talking about. I recieve many e-mails from people who go into psychosis during meditation retreats like the one I was on, and they routinely get hospitalized. I'm greatful for my experience and plan to return soon, but they meditation for me in that state was impossible. I stuck with my own instincts, ignored their advice, and I'm glad I did.

I´ve got a lot more activity in that third-eye area too, but I have no idea what it does. It just feels like a little pressure

I feel for you on this. My symptoms were different and progressed from top (head) down, but the experience for me also took place at a vipassana center. I take it you were at a goenka center? No help, no acknowledgement. I was experiencing spontaneous body movements, kryias and mudras. When these first started they weren't recognizable postures or mudras I knew so I thought, am I being possessed? What is here with me? Then I told myself I couldn't be hurt without giving permission so I said (mentally of course) nothing wishing to harm me may be here. The movements continued and I thought, well my mother is bipolar 1 and has had psychosis, maybe I'm just having psychosis. And for a moment that was a concerning thought. But then I remembered my mother couldn't recall any of her experiences while in psychosis. So I figured well if this is meant to happen it's meant to happen and it's strange that I'm so lucid in the environment because my mother was NOT aware of her surroundings at all. I told myself it could be something different so I assured myself that if I went into blackout psychosis I would eventually be pulled out by doctors or medicines so this wasn't really a worry and I should continue. At that point of surrender to the process my hand slipped into a mudra for wisdom that I recognized, and the process got much easier. But the staff was no help at all. They had no information, or refused to acknowledge any information about kundalini if they did. The instructor kept saying, no yoga stop doing yoga. 😹 as if I could just turn it off. In hindsight it's actually quite humorous, but in the moment I felt like they shouldnt be running a course if they arent willing or are just not adept to handle these awakening appropriately. It seems a bit irresponsible doesnt it? And you and I are NOT the only ones who have experienced this at a goenka retreat. There are others same story. No help. I talked to another instructor almost a year later she acknowledged the symptoms and behaviors but wouldnt call it kundalini. She calked them distractions and said to keep with the breath and scanning. I don't think they're doing themselves or anyone else any favors by dismissing this process. Not that it is an end goal, but it does deserve acknowledgement and tending to. What are your thoughts on vipassana courses following this experience?

very interesting... A while ago I was having dreams of either being a snake or a snake coming from my mouth... Have you experienced and psychic or clairvoyant abilities since then?

@xoninmuoshda The heart accelerated for only 2 or 3 minutes, I think. Probably around 111 to 130 bpm. If its been happening to you for 10 months, I would check with a doctor that everything seems OK on a biological level. It may be Kundalini, but ten months seems like a long time.

Why don´t you watch it again, then go to your room, or the bathroom and let it out.

When I say I don't have the same problems, I'm referring to bipolar type symptoms. Because after rising to the next level of consciousness, one is presented with new issues lol. There's ups and down to any level I believe. The transitioning part being the worst. Personally, being grounded is what I struggled with most after mine. For almost two months I lost sense of time and self. Especially time. I almost went to jail over it because I didn't reply to something. At this point, it's about balance.

@Talito7 This is vipassana meditation. If you've had 7 years of experience meditating, I highly recommend the 10 day vipassana retreat I talk about here.

@bipolarorwakingup & i want 2 point out one more thing. U said it was painful to sit in the required posture for prolonged hrs. The basic yoga with its exrcises & poses helps u prepare the body for those demands, & the Pranayam gets u ready for the focus & efficient breathing during your deep meditation. All that builds up the physical body & gets it ready for the quest of the mind. Good luck, just remember, this is just a scratch on the surface. Ur experiences will get better & u more liberated

Just like to ask, that you mentioned that the teachers didnt advise anything on how to deal with Kundalini energy rising, so what should we do then? Just relax and dont meditate that day. How were the other people feeling and experiencing those days and dealing with it? any idea?

Hi sean, it's my understanding that bipolar is caused via spirit attatchment , and I am not referring to some silly biblical concept but a complex universal attachment at birth (usually), based on themes and or injuries at soul/essence level. Therefore during meditation, the snake leaving was an entity rejected via positive energy, plus the other energy releases also. Every human has approx 1000 spirit attachments.

On your heart accelerations... how many beats would you feel.. and how prominant would they be. would it be more than one that you could feel more than the others? Would they last for a few seconds or minutes at a time? this has been happening to me for the past 10 months.. maybe it's linked to this trauma past stuff being released. Thanks for your response!!

@xoninmuoshda Cool. There is no doubt that in some situations, a wide variety of drugs cause spiritual openings. There is no doubt about that! Trouble is, like a knife, sometimes they cut too deep.

Actually, I had been present while people released trauma during ´psychosis´. To my suprise, I found the trauma I was releasing here in the kundalini so subtle...It struck me that if we look at trauma simply as energy that needs to be released, then levels of trauma reveal themselves on subtler and subtler levels, right down to the past-life karma of things.

Vip is great if you ever get incarcerated, but it's kinda lacking some crucial dynamics.
Always wondered why they avoid the genital area during the sensation observation. Kinda leaves it open to a cop-out... i.e. just keep breathing it'll go away (and for the most part may be good advice) -- but... when the Fire starts... it's no place for individual attention.

...also whenever energy is increased or decreased it is subject to attack at the soul level. Entities either pump us with energy or take our energy, some people are more susceptible than others. For instance after OBE or astral travel we are often very weak. Dreams aren't dreams they real events experienced by your 'spirit" body in the 1st dimension. You appear to have a common injury with your mother that has manifested poor relationships with women in the past.

I just commented on ur 1st video. I meditated & felt my heart sending out love 3 days ago. Since then I have been having more panic attacks and bouts of crying. I have anxiety/ptsd. I'm hoping to call my dr for an antidepressant next week. I'm very scared that I can't cope with the way I feel now. I've had massive trauma in my life, so maybe I shouldnt have meditated. :-/ I don't know what to do.

Wow. Many of the things he speaks of I experience almost on a daily basis. The burning feeling in the coccyx area that rises and grows in intensity until it reaches my heart then up to my head until the center of my forehead feels like its pulsating with orgasmic energy. Same thing in the center of my palms. My kundalini has been on fire ever since I can remember and sometimes I wish I could shut the damn thing off. Lol. Excruciatingly painful at times and others extremely blissful.

@bipolarorwakingup I don't know what u disagree about. I totally believe u. In fact, I m pretty convinced that there's a lot about the working of the brain & our consciousness that the "modern science" knows nothing about, & do not have the depth to explore it either. What u did is wonderful. & that u share it, is even great. What helped u 2 that level was the discipline of the camp, silence & only meditation for 10 days, combined with the vegetarian diet.

@bipolarorwakingup Well, It started happening after I did MDMA lol. I havn't touched it since. But got my blood tests back from a couple of months ago and I had an EKG done. I'm as healthy as a horse. so Maybe what's being released is all that shit out of my body? But I'm glad I did the drug.. It was amazing and I'm sure it had something to do with guiding me on the right path in life. shortly after is when I took an interest in spirituality and now I am sober.

Shawn, u are not from a culture that has this paradigm. So u said that they were Budhdhists & did not get it. Actually they do get it, that's why they told you 2 continue with meditation. It is like when you are getting there, it becomes confusing, overwhelming, & by those who do not believe beyond what they don't know, as psychosis. That's why u need a Guru who is well experienced with this 2 guide u through 2 the tranquility that is the eventual goal, & u r left with just pure u, no baggage

just kidding. Interesting stuff. I have heard about these retreats before with very mixed reviews. I would have a hard time believing all these experiences you describe if I didn't have so many crazy feeling experiences myself. I haven't had the full kundalini experience, but I get the crown explosion a lot during meditation.
