Thanks again for your detailed video. I installed the device in my Honda today, and the only difference was that I actually needed three orange clips. Without them, the bottom part of the device couldn't fit properly.
Awesome thanks for watching the video, really appreciate you taking time to share your experience. Joying must have updated the design of that bottom trim.
Fantastic in depth installation video, I have my eye on one of these units but I think I might look for an installer for my car. Well done and thank you
Great video, thanx to you I knew what to do. I had to remove the clips on the back of the screen and unit as you did, and cut a piece of the dash topper as you did. Very informative really helpful.
Thank you so much for putting this all this together. Do you have any more information on how the stock reverse camera connects to the android head unit? I am trying to figure out which wires need to be converted from the stock connector to an standard yellow video connector and which wire triggers the reverse camera to activate. Many thanks.
Hi Peter, the wiring harness that came with it hooks up to the OEM reverse camera so there’s not much fiddling I need to do get the reverse camera to display the video on the headunit. Does your CRV come with a OEM reverse camera or are you installing one yourself?
Awesome in-depth installation video! Do you also give troubleshooting tips? I have problems with Bluetooth module and amplifier unit of 2012 Honda crv. Thanks for this tutorial!
Hi Retsamtv, thanks for watching my video and providing feedback. Unfortunately I don’t have that level of technical expertise to help with your queries :(
It is nice that they make them so they don't look out of place. That and potential technical problems are why I never wanted to install a different one in any of my vehicles. I didn't want something in there that looks ugly
Yeah these days, the after-market headunits look like they come from factory. I once installed an android headunit for a 2010 Peugeot 308 T7 and the mechanic from the Peugeot service centre admired how it looked “OEM”.
I was able to get the Joying head unit going well using HCRV-H harness with Raise RZ-HD06 Decoder. HOWEVER, it's not as simple as connecting a compatible decoder (I know this because I tried 3 in the end!). After a lot of research and comparing wiring diagrams I've found that some Honda CRV's have a 12pin Audio-Nav Unit Connector - this is the one with two rows of pins, but only the top pins have wires. If you trace them, most of the cables go straight to the Canbus decoder connector. Unfortunately, the 12pin connector does not have any pins for Can Bus, it only supplies GA_Bus (not sure what that is, but I think it's something to do with AV). The secret to getting Can Bus working is to tap the Can Bus lines (Pin 15 & 31) going to the back of the MID Screen. I've disconnected the 12pin connector altogether and applied the tapped Can Bus lines from the MID screen to pin 11 and 12 of the can bus decoder everything now seems to be working. So far I've noticed Steering wheel controls, Door open indicator, and Reversing Track 'bends' with the steering.
That's excellent work! I tried back-and-forth with the Joying technicians and they were not able to help make the steering wheel buttons work. I'm glad yours worked :)
I just got the latest Joying Head Unit with Android 12, have the same Aussie CRV Head Unit as in this video, and also got the wiring harness (B cable option) that had mis-matching sockets, and missing sockets marked 1,2,3 & 7 as marked in your diagram. My Cambus also does not pickup any data (doors open, lights on, steering wheel controls.) Joying have been quite responsive, so hopefully I'll get a replacement harness. I like what you did with separating the screen from the unit when mounting, I think I'll do the same. Glad I found your video.
Hi Blis, Im glad you find this video helpful. And yes, I fond their support staff really helpful and responsive. How did you go fitting the hazard light? Im curious if you had a hard time like I did…
@@AutosNGizmos I had no problem as I have the 10.1" screen version and the hazard button does not protrude into the dash cavity. Also, I removed the OEM GPS and mag mounted the joying gps in its place. The magnet seems strong enough to hold it in place.
Hi Blisoft, did you get this resolved? If so would you mind sharing which canbus model/harness they sent you and the CAN setting you used pls? I too have the same Aussie CRV head unit but replaced it with a different Android unit to the Joying. The harness they sent me has connections for all the OEM cables (except GPS as it has its own), but for the life of me I cant get the steering wheel controls to work. The seller is investigating but everything they've suggested so far hasn't worked. Thanks
@@WeaponAU Joying sent me the same harness shown in this video, which has a Raise decoder marked "12-14 CRV (Malaysia)". Oddly enough when I first powered the unit up after connection, still with the "Simple" decoder settings still set from the previous harness, the SWCs (i.e. Vol -) worked for a few seconds, then stopped. Despite changing the setting to "Raise -12 Crv/Civic" as instructed, the SWCs have not worked since. Also doesn't recognise doors opening. Joying have yet to find a solution and have gone quiet.
Awesome video. I really needed this because I am not very techy and this helped immensely. Thank you. Just one question. At about 36:45 you show another USB connector. What is it and what does it connect to and where? Thank you again and have a great day.
@philbeals4442 Hi Phil, that extra wiring harness is needed if your car has a USB port inside the centre armrest. Have a look at the 26:49 mark. It essentially connects that USB port into the Joying headunit so you can use it for charging or Carplay/Android Auto.
Hi @jonedney1584, when I bought the Joying unit for the car in this video, Joying didn’t have those A-E pictures. I just sent them a picture of the back of the existing stereo and they sent me the “appropriate” wiring harness with my purchase. However if they have those pictures of the different types of OEM stereos, I would not have bought from them because mine didn’t seem to match any of the selection from A-E. See post below. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxUQNoKU5YSDRGIUBfT6IM2k2ZDIeSIJoM
Thanks for your reply @@AutosNGizmos. I've compared the connections on my existing OEM unit to the wiring harnesses Joying sell on their website. I've asked the dealer to send me the HCRV-H harness with the "Raise G-RZ-HD74" decoder. I'm not sure which model (A-E) that relates to, but they seemed happy to send it to me. The number and style of connectors seems to match what you used in this video. I noticed in the service manual for the car that the 8-10pin connector you had left over is either an Aux in or Subwoofer out connection. The other one is the OEM GPS. Thanks again for taking the time to put this video together, it's really appreciated.
Hi, great video! I recently received this headunit and noticed that the GPS antenna is magnetized, making installation easier without the need for adhesive. I'm curious, was your GPS antenna also magnetized? If so, did you find that the position you chose worked better for your setup?
@@davormilutinovic119 Hi Davor, I don’t remember if my GPS antenna was magnetised. Hi Jonas, with regards to the reverse camera: 1) if the headunit does not automatically switch to show the reverse camera video input, then a potential source if issue there could be that headunit has an incorrect Canbus setting in the BIOS. Have a look at the BIOS settings page and look for something like “CAN Type” setting. 2) With regards to the steering wheel buttons, I also encountered the same issue. I pull into the next parking lot so I can shut the vehicle off and turn it back on and it still does it. It is bizarre! Thankfully it only happened once because it is very distracting. I may just give a different unit a try. On Reddit there seems to be a post about someone else having the same problem. It is a Bosch head unit so it is not like some no name generic junk either. Maybe there is a bug in its software. That is the only reason it would do this in my opinion. It really is an annoying thing and I am glad it only happened a couple times but still I would not want to be in busy traffic or trying to find my way around an unfamiliar place and have that make me wreck my vehicle. I tried to get it to stop while on the road still but no luck since it is hard to safely take my eyes off the road long enough to figure out what the heck is happening. That seems like one of those things that needs to be solved at home in the driveway where you are at home with internet to get some insight into what may be causing it. I once had to make a 20 minute trip to some place listening to that and it can really make you lose your mind!! If I knew which fuse to pull I most certainly would have. I would just take a photo first so I can see where all of them are supposed to go and that can help if you ever take it for electrical work and an incompetent person puts one of the wrong rating (I don't call it "size") in some place.
Hi Charles, yeah this will also drive me nuts. To me, it doesn’t sound like an issue caused by a bad fuse because a bad fuse means it’s an open circuit and no electricity will be flowing through. Then on my car whenever I activate SIRI on my phone, there is a phone call box that shows up on the car’s screen so that’s another angle of investigation for you. This is his video: th-cam.com/video/90UcjAd9SQI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=wyPLFo6qlFcy_qhv
Hi Stephanie, firstly thanks for watching my video. With regard to your question, I can confirm both wired and wireless Apple Carplay work with this headunit and it also support Bluetooth audio. So if you are an Apple iPhone user, you can either plug it in the USB, or use wireless Apple Carplay. And with Apple Carplay, it uses both Bluetooth and Wireless to stream audio and content to the headunit. There is an initial setup and handshake that happens but once setup, it works seamlessly. Unfortunately, I dont own any Android phones so Im unable to verify if and how Android Auto works on the headunit. And since filming this video, I noticed the seller has discontinued the 8-inch models. Its a shame since I liked having buttons on either side of the screen as it make it look symmetrical. I also had a look at Joying’s 9-inch models and it stated in the specs that it support wireless on both Carplay and Android Auto. However, I’d encourage you to directly contact the seller to confirm the details. I hope this was helpful and be sure to check back in here if you have any further questions or comments. Good luck on your project!
You don't really need the cellular antennas do you? I would like to think my phone in my pocket is all I need and just use the head unit partly as a handsfree device.
Hi Charles, in most cases you don’t need to have a separate cellular connection. The only time you need it is if you want the car fully connected to the internet all the time, for example if you want to see the location live, or if you have a dashcam, see the live camera feed remotely.
@@AutosNGizmos I normally use Sygic. It is a good app that can be used free for the basic stuff as long as you want but it lets you download the individual maps for each state. I think all of the USA is only a couple of gigabytes but I am usually in one state so I just keep that one. Also if you have a microsd card in your phone at the time you install Sygic it lets you choose it if you want to for the maps. That is great if you just want to keep your phone storage clean or if you have an older device that doesn't have a lot of internal storage. I still remember older Android devices having 4 GB of space and a large portion of it already full. While Sygic is free for the basic stuff they do have a few extras. The nice thing about that app is you don't need a constant data connection to find your way around. That helps if you live in a place where cellular connections are not so great. Every once in a while they have map updates too and they are free. If you have an older head unit in your vehicle that doesn't have WiFi but also needs a replacement SD card for map updates it is nice to have a phone with Sygic on it. I have seen streets on my vehicle GPS that are not there any more. I also have seen housing developments not far from me that are not on my vehicle GPS. Often Sygic will have a more up to date map. If it doesn't look for the update.

Hi Kieneonta, according to the Joying Aliexpress store, they have models that would support CRV’s with AD screen. But best if you contact them directly to confirm. You can use the product link in the description box of my video so it takes you directly to the Joying product you are after.
Cheers 😊
Hi, could you please send the p/n for the new harness so that my steering wheel controls work ?
Thank you.
Hi there, I tried installing the new harness yesterday and unfortunately it didnt work. I’ve informed the seller about this but I haven’t received a response yet. Might I suggest you watch this video from another youtuber. He seemed to install the same headunit from Joying but I can see his steering wheel control buttons are working. This is his video: th-cam.com/video/90UcjAd9SQI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=wyPLFo6qlFcy_qhv
for the apple car play/android auto do you need to have a usb connection? or does it work over bluetooth?

I have the same old head unit. I want to do the same. Can you tell me what are the two additional cables from the car?
Hi Dennis, I suspect those two cables might be for the steering wheel control because I’m having issues with them after this install. I‘ll update you after I get the new wiring harness from the seller and install it in the car
@@AutosNGizmos any updates with the swc?
very nice video!!
Thanks Gene. Much appreciated 😊
your seller was right. you should've gone for a bigger screen.
Hi Sagar, I’m curious did you install the one with the bigger screen on your CRV?
Can have sku number? Will this model work for US Honda CRV?
Hi Alfonso, thanks for visiting my channel.
I don’t the the SKU for this product but the URL in the description of the video should take you straight to the product page.
With regards to your question if it is compatible to US Honda CRV, it’s best to reach out to Joying. You can also do this via the product page by clicking the “Message” icon.
Good luck and make sure to check back in here if you have further questions.
can they use the side camera
That’s a good question. The car that I worked on didn’t have that feature so I can’t know for sure. Might be worth asking the seller if this feature is supported by their product
the Joying Android 12 units do support a single side camera (3 total)
Does the unit get v v hot under normal use?
Hi RationalCreed, Unfortunately I have not notice if it gets hot. But in saying this, I also have not encountered any issue which may suggest its overheating during normal use.
i need steering wheel to move lines
How much
Hi Ryan, when Joying was still selling the 8” model for the CRV, I bought it for AU$650. But they have discontinued that and only sells the 9” model (starts from ~AU$713) or 10” model (starts from ~AU$728).
Check out the product link in the description box of the video.
Cheers 😊
