    This video was more about the roast then the Meater, but wanted to try it out on this cook. Now I didn't read any instructions and here's my take; I like it it worked fine with the kettle no interference. At apprx. 35 ft I lost the connection, but once I went inside I also disconnected and I was 10 feet away behind closed doors. I never set up a hot spot with another device... that's why I overshot my target temp of 125 deg F because I was disconnected. Internal and ambient temps worked fine on the probe. As you know I bought this mainly for the rotisserie Overall I was happy with it and it did what it was supposed to do for this cook. Other then the hot spot issue I liked it... maybe they can manufacture a gateway bridge for wi-fi like Thermoworks sells for there smoke thermometer.

    I'm glad you got a Rotisserie for the Kettle. Man, that Prime Rib roast looked heavenly brother Biggs!!! Wishing I had done one this year!! You thought you overcooked it, but I think it was cooked perfectly for my taste bro!!! Cheers to ya and Happy New Year!!! Cheers, Troy

      Hey Troy, Happy New Year and cheers to you also... I must say, it seems to me that you love watching beef videos... If you cook it... T-roy will come ...LOL. Loving the rotisserie... it's so easy to set up and use. The rib roast did turn out good, it was more at the higher end of medium rare. Besides that 4 bone roast, I also picked up two Angus choice cry-o-vac 7 bone roasts on sale @ 4.99 lb with coupon... cant beat that price! Thanks for your support good buddy : )

    The Big Man knows his Beef and that was some Killer Beef at it's finest! Like that rub mixture....and using the CB Rot was a great idea. That Meater meter is the answer to the temp monitoring issue when using a rotisserie. \m/

      @BiggsHomeCookin  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      HMBbq, nobody loves his beeff... better than biggs! The rub was good, try that one out. I was going to use thyme but didn't have any, so I subbed with marjoram. The parking Meater worked well, I bought it mainly for the rotisserie... see my reply to Lasse's comment down below... Thanks for your support Ken... big man appreciates it...

    That prime rib was perfect in my book. Absolutely gorgeous. Yes food is gorgeous to me. Lol Couldn't be better. Sounds like the Meater needs the hotspot to be effective throughout the cook. Greg at Ballistic proved that. I do love tje Cajun Bandit Rotisserie ring. I'm definitely trying this one. I wanted a bite for sure. Great job. HAPPY NEW YEAR.

      Mr. Phil, how you doing... That was a good roast and that rub was also... try that one out... it's in the description. Connected to a hot spot is the way to go if you going to be outside that 35' range or indoors. I was to lazy to set one up at the time with another device... lol. I'll be watching and routing for Mamas Tigers and your Gamecocks. Have a Happy New Year and enjoy your get together. Thanks for all your support and being a friend... your bud CB

      How are you doing Laurice... Happy New Year to you and the family : ) The roast turned out wonderful! That was my 8" slicer...
      I brought my 10" over to my brothers on Christmas Eve and had left it there. I was a little PO when I went to reach for it and it was not there to slice the roast, it really needed it. I also never hit record on my phone when I had sliced the end cut... then I proceeded to turn it on, thinking I was turning it off. I manage to salvage something out of it... hahaha! Well, it was nice to meet you Laurice and thanks for your support...Biggs : )

    since it takes so long to setup, wouldn't it be better to undershoot your temp? If you're going 250-275 or whatever, having that lid open so long will really stoke the fire.

    • @BiggsHomeCookin
      @BiggsHomeCookin  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hahaha. The roast came out beautiful and the Meater worked fine. It only has a range of about of 35' using bluetooth, but if you use another device such as a phone, tablet or laptop... you can set that up as a hot spot or bridge and leave it out by your grill and you can be connected through wi-fi. Making it possible to be indoors. Thanks Chip

    • @BiggsHomeCookin
      @BiggsHomeCookin  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Gary thanks for checking out the video... just to let you know, this video was not a review of the Meater. It was a video on the beef rib roast. It was not mentioned about a review in the title, nor did I review it in the video itself. I had some people question and comment on the Meater... so I commented back and pinned it for all to see. For me it was was easy enough to use without reading the instructions. I hope you reconsider. Oh, the roast turned out fantastic!!

    • @garyfairbrother5532
      @garyfairbrother5532 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Biggs' Home Cookin': Sorry Biggs, can’t do that. You can’t say you were just reviewing a piece of meat because pieces of meat are as unique as breeds, feeding, care, slaughtering, grading and cooking method of the cut. You did not mention if your cut was Standard, Select, Choice or Prime. You dissed the MEATER because you were disappointed that it didn’t do more than it said it would do. Also you mention MEATER in the video title so it pop-up and is listed with other MEATER reviews on TH-cam search. If you would have been fair you would have stated that they have a model of the product that would overcome your objection for $30.00 more. Actually you must have been aware that a repeater device was necessary for added range by your own admission in the pinned comet. Nope, whether you intended to or not you cast dispersion on what I consider a great product. I am I no way connected to MEATER other than being a very satisfied owner who has recommended it highly to friends and family!!!

      benjamin gruen: But you really seem to care so that confuses me, you must be at least one who really cares. Tell me where I’m wrong in my assessment of this review. I just did a 3 pound prime rib roast with a MEATER and it was spectacular. You have to be at least as smart as the product in order to use it properly. ( Example: CAUTION, DO NOT PRESS CHAIN SAW AGAINST BODY PARTS WHILE IT IS RUNNING! THIS WILL RESULT IN SEVERE INJURY)
