  • A demonstration of fa flow drill that comes from Tahteeb/Tahtib (Southern Egyptian stick fighting). The flow begins with an exchange of attack and defense using the hanging parry to negate the forearm diagonal slash. From there we explore the many options of counterattacking while maintaining a seamless flow... At times :) Enjoy! Spinning with the sword is definitely a trope that has very little combat value but as far as choreography is concerned those turning movements make for beautiful inages. something in the human psyche likes spinny and shiny things.

Out of curiosity, I noticed that your partner holds his "buckler" close to his body before striking out with it to block. Is that particular to your system?
    Thanks

Oh, that is amusing. I don't want to further sully a serious martial arts video by replying to nonsense, so adios.

Based on what? If SCA guys didn't open their mouths to criticize serious swordsmanship styles I wouldn't say anything. But you have no business referring to SCA as "for real" as a way to put down people who are actually practicing legit swordsmanship, not bashing away at each other with the flat of the blade at point-blank range...

SCA fighting has far too many restrictive rules to be a good venue for testing a sword system.
