X opened for The Psychedelic Furs in Madison, WI--July 2022, and they were ON FIRE! Having gone through my college years in the mid-80s, they sucked me right back into the best decade ever!! Listening to them endlessly today!
I couldn't justify paying for a ticket when they were an opening act for a band I hated. I had to settle for my daughter interviewing John Doe a couple of months ago and exene last year.
I saw X in a small venue in Oklahoma City in 1980--The Bowry. One of the best damn shows I've ever witnessed--and Exene was drinking tequila out of a liter bottle on stage. Never forget it. John Doe was infuckingcredible on the guitar. 61 years young and I will always love X.
Billy Zoom was infuckingcredible on the guitar. John Doe plays bass. He's pretty good too ;-) I'm seeing them in 2 weeks opening for The Psychedelic Furs.
I saw them in a bar in Hartford CT in 85. $3 tickets. Probably the best show I've ever seen. Stood right in front of Billy Zoom's amp and shook his hand at the end. Couldn't hear for days after
Billy Zoom is a monster! I used to play bass in the old days, and I always did the spread-leg Billy Zoom pose when I was playing. And that creepy assed smile ....@@AdamFriedberg
Sunset Strip in the 80's was such Pandemonium kids everywhere Representing their Genre's of Music Punk, Metal, Glam(as we called it), Thrash, etc. Girls everywhere with those Huge Hairstyles Man I miss those days
One of my favorite West Coast LPs from Punk's classic period (c.77-83)- a list that also includes Dead Kennedy's "Fresh Fruit", Dickies' "Dawn of the Dickies", Germs' "(GI)", Red Rockers' "Condition Red", TSOL's "Dance With Me", "Black Flag's "Damaged", Bad Religion's "How Could Hell Be Any Worse" and Circle Jerks" Group Sex"...
X performed at my Disneyland Grad Night '85... in front of a handful of peeps on the terrace in front of Space Mountain. Pretty damn cool for us teenagers!
When I was 19 I loved this album and played my cassette tape until it wouldn't play1 anymore... Now at 52 married a couple of times with kids and realizing that SoCal is the only place in the U.S. that I can live and be accepted for who I am in my community.. This album gets better as I get older!!!
X put on a fantastic show and I was fortunate to see them in concert at a small venue in Tempe AZ. They blew the doors off the place and punk will always be king in my book. It was an amazing time for rock and roll with live experiences with The Ramones, The Romantics, Meat Puppets,,, and several lost in my brain fog of the early '80s. We lived through the best of times and it continues to get better! Stay optimistic, keep moving and one of my favorites is "The Worlds a mess its in my kiss"!! No way can you stand still!
I found an X 'Los Angeles' shirt at the Goodwill Bins today here in Portland Oregon. It's got the lyrics on the back as well for all the songs. Went to kill some time after going to the dentist and getting a filling. They said you can't eat for 2 hours, so what else is there to do, when the Bins is a few blocks down the road. Might as well stop in! Originally bought this album on CD at Jackpot Records on Hawthorne 20 or so years ago and the 2nd one as well. Things back then w/ punk and all were harder to find, so you had to spend money to hear stuff and it was also hard to find good records. Not every place would carry "punk" or have a punk section. If you found something good or found an album you'd seen on a t-shirt somewhere you'd probably consider buying it for the rarity. We did have Napster/Soulseek back then, but not everyone had CD burners, so you bought stuff. X is coming to Salem Oregon later this year. Might go. I know they play here in Portland Oregon every year, never have gone. Maybe the time is right. The place they are playing, Elsinore Theater, built 1926 looks pretty cool. Well, have a excellent day! Much love.
How is it I 've heard this album hiundreds of times. It was always playing at someone's place then Hungry Wolf came and they were all over L.A. radio. Amazing I never heard the verses and words before . now Im 50 andreally hearing all of this fabulous imaginitive music !
Oh I hate you! My ex was an LA gutter-puck back in them days and saw all the great bands playing at the Whiskey et. al.. Sadly, I grew up in NASCAR country.
Saw them tonight. It's bittersweet that they're hanging it up because I've seen them at least once on every tour since "More Fun in the New World" and the last two shows were better than all their shows I've seen in the last fifteen years. I miss the fuck out of them already.
Hardcore punk took over by 1980 dividing the scene with drunktard tweakers and straight edge douchebags. Imo straight edge hardcore grew into me with minor threat making the most impact in hardcore by non intentionally making a new movement with the song called "straight edge" their powerful lyrics grow into you after quitting drugs and booze. I listened to minor threat getting high and drunk all the time singing along with friends but by the time my peak youth ended and everyone going on there own ways their lyrics hit me like a cannon
X were the Punk extension of The Doors. When I listen to Doors cuts like "Land Ho!" and "Cars Hiss By My Window" I can't help but think of X. And on this one you have Soul Kitchen and Ray playing keyboard on some of the tracks.
Started as a Punk band, but extended their sound so much more to show their incredible talent, such as "Under the BIg Black Sun". "More Fun in the New World," and "See How We Are." "Smoke & Fiction" as their last album goes back to their Punk roots.
I roadied for them in the (80)s the Brat opened up we had back stage passes I wander if they would remember me Rude VEX I played in a band called the VEX
After X Los Angeles . I Saw X & Romeo Void in Eugene Oregon 1981🌲 Turned John Doe on 2 MDA .. Followed Them 2 Portland Then Eureka California. Where The DKs East Bay Ray's 🎸 Mom Lived. Dead Kennedys Played Alot in Eureka.

LOL has to be one of the more ignorant posts I've seen on TH-cam outside of MAGA/Shapiro/Jones channels. This is a five star punk classic. If anything is overrated it's Wild Gift. I find it boring compared to Los Angeles and More Fun in the New World.
How can you not love their almost, but not really, off-key harmony? And how in the hell did Exene marry both John Doe and Viggo Mortensen? Just kidding. Nice when men value creativity and talent.
X opened for The Psychedelic Furs in Madison, WI--July 2022, and they were ON FIRE! Having gone through my college years in the mid-80s, they sucked me right back into the best decade ever!! Listening to them endlessly today!
Tomorrow night for me in Seattle
Looooove it
Seeing them tonight 8/14 at the OC Fair Grounds in Costa Mesa Ca, been a while since i seen both bands can't wait
I couldn't justify paying for a ticket when they were an opening act for a band I hated. I had to settle for my daughter interviewing John Doe a couple of months ago and exene last year.
That sounds like a great show!
Is Exene singing‽ I'm a wicked fan, but.
Under appreciated band. Reminds me of when Hollywood was lit with Punk , Ska n let's not forget Hair Metal!! It's L.A. Baby!!
🤟🤟🤟....
One of the top 5 American Bands... In my opinion.
Absolutely!
DEF
Definitely.
Great opinion 🇺🇸
Them and the plugz

That's awesome. I love these guys. Grew up with them.
Sunset Strip in the 80's was such Pandemonium kids everywhere Representing their Genre's of Music

No killing either, right?
Ray Manzarek of the Doors produced X's first four studio albums...
One of my favorite West Coast LPs from Punk's classic period (c.77-83)- a list that also includes Dead Kennedy's "Fresh Fruit", Dickies' "Dawn of the Dickies", Germs' "(GI)", Red Rockers' "Condition Red", TSOL's "Dance With Me", "Black Flag's "Damaged", Bad Religion's "How Could Hell Be Any Worse" and Circle Jerks" Group Sex"...
thanks for recommendations
X performed at my Disneyland Grad Night '85... in front of a handful of peeps on the terrace in front of Space Mountain. Pretty damn cool for us teenagers!
I think Los Angeles has become my new comfort song, honestly.
Because of Grand Theft Auto.
@@ggt47 I've never played the game, so I don't think that's completely it so much as just discovering it and really liking it.

The Ramen Noodles of Rock n Roll
You just gotta spice it up a little bit.@@LaurenLawDawg
X has it going on and that's just the way it is! 🖤🖤🖤
Man I fucking love Nausea, such a banging tune
agree
Manzarek's organ playing sealed it up perfectly...
X put on a fantastic show and I was fortunate to see them in concert at a small venue in Tempe AZ. They blew the doors off the place and punk will always be king in my book.

I was there at Dooley's! I was sitting with Bruce Connole's GF (Jetzons)
Exene has such a nice Siouxie vocal vibe on Nausea.
I saw them so many times in the early 80’s. The Reseda country club was one of the best venues to experience them and the mosh pit!!
This band is pretty great kinda had their own sound compared to a lot of other CA punk bands at the time. And I love female singers in punk rock.
CA punk was usually gloomier and grittier, a bit goth sometimes, these guys were like Rockabilly on steroids and fun edge to the rebelliousness
The us made punk so sound doesn't really matter
Ya...talent.
Billy Zoom was a rockabilly guitarist. EXene had never sung before and didn't know what harmony was. She made up her own version
Rockabilly on steroids. Good one. I used to play Shit-billy. Kind of the same, but more cuntrier.@@MatameVideos
Great album!
what a great band .... saw them many times from the early 80's on .........
Ohhhh! Thank you for such a high quality upload as well!

Not only the greatest L.A. rock band ever, but the best name for a rock band in the world - X

Hungry Wolf is the ultimate love song.
Great band, great Record! Produced by Ray Mazurek.
I love this band they were the best band of LA I remember going to the whisky a gogo on Sunset in Hollywood or difrent night clubs
Oh I hate you! My ex was an LA gutter-puck back in them days and saw all the great bands playing at the Whiskey et. al.. Sadly, I grew up in NASCAR country.
One of my first albums. Hell yea. 🔥
Uncensored. Fuck yeah thank you.
Great Doors cover
I saw them with my friend who didn’t really like punk but it was his birthday he’s no longer with us rip!
Exene is a goat female singer
#2. Truly great but not Janis Joplin.
Damn just hearing this months later but never disappoints
I had everything from "Los Angeles" to "More Fun In The New World" on cassette! Yeah... I'm that old! 🤟🤟🤟.....
Saw them tonight. It's bittersweet that they're hanging it up because I've seen them at least once on every tour since "More Fun in the New World" and the last two shows were better than all their shows I've seen in the last fifteen years. I miss the fuck out of them already.
I don't know anything about american punk but thanks to Decline I know at least this great band
@@anauticalgate5496 I'll check 'em out for sure!

Love this whole album. Very cool band and they kick ass live! (See them if you have the chance)
Special songs always make a good night AMAZING...
Any chance of uploading the album "Under the big black sun"? Those 2 r their bests LPs in my opinion.
That tape is still in my possession given to me by Firefighter FBurgess in Baltimore City 95
Yeahhhhh ❤️🔥
Saw you live years ago & met after the show...
