your last place is my favourite esc song of all time. malta thought that slovakia’s entry was also the best esc song ever and gave it a well deserved 12!

Here are my personal votes/rankings, i'am from the Netherlands 12 points: Ireland - Paul Harrington & Charlie McGettigan - Rock 'n' Roll kids 10 points: Sweden - Marie Bergman & Roger Pontare - Stjärnorna 8 points: Iceland - Sigga - Naetur 7 points : Norway - Elisabeth Andreasson & Jan Werner Danielsen - Duett 6 points: Portugal - Sara Tavares - Chamar a música 5 points: Spain - Alejandro Abad - Ella no es ella 4 points: Slovakia - Tubla Tanka - Nekonecná piesen 3 points: Romania - Dan Bittman - Dincolo de nori 2 points: Poland - Edyta Gorniak - To nie ja! 1 point : United Kingdom - Frances Ruffelle - We will be free (Lonely symphony)
1994: The one with the new countries, but a ballad-heavy year. There's definitely some good songs here, but also a blur of those that end up losing its charm. But there was an awesome interval act. As for the debutants, I thought they were good! I don't think I've hated any of them (and EST and LTU definitely deserved better). 1 pt: GRE 2 pt: NED 3 pt: GER 4 pt: FRA (I initially had this at tenth, because I thought it needed a bit of refinement and electric guitar. It has definitely grown on me since then!) 5 pt: NOR 6 pt: IRE 7 pt: GBR (What a great winner you have! Sure, Frances was a bit sharp on some notes, but it doesn't take the enjoyment away from the song. Very contempoary) 8 pt: RUS - It's very disjointed at times, with the calmer verses and the affirmative chorus. I like them separately, and the lyrics tell a good story. Also, that multi-functional dress is definitely charming! 10 pt: CYP - As much as I like Italy in the contest, it's good that RAI withdrew, because Cyprus would've gotten relegated otherwise. And what a gem this is--different from Teriazoume, but still very dramatic. I love the ethnic elements, the lyrics, and how Evridiki sells this. 12 pt: HUN - On the other hand, my favorite of the year is more low-key and delicate. Friderika has a soft voice which compliments the vulnerable lyrics, along with the acoustic guitar that accompanies it. A lot of people would put To nie ja as the best debutant, and I could see why, but it just leaves me cold upon listening. Kinek mondjvam el vetkimet, on the other hand, puts me in a certain state of mind and makes me think. This is what make it my favorite of 1994.
This is an amazing 😉 year ! My personal Top 5: 1. My first place 🥇: Finland 🇫🇮 2. My second place 🥈: Germany 🇩🇪 3. My third place 🥉: Poland 🇵🇱 4. Hungary 🇭🇺 5. Russia 🇷🇺 But it was a strong year !
1994 is a particular year. It's a strong one, with excellent songs and good premises from all these new countries, although I don't understand how Lithuania could have finished last. And there are a lot of ballads, which is heaven for me ! ESC 1994 is also the only time I ranked my own country (France) last. I really don't like "Je suis un vrai garçon". Here's my top 10: 10th: Portugal 9th: Iceland 8th: The Netherlands 7th: Cyprus 6th: Ireland 5th: Estonia 4th: Croatia 3rd: Lithuania 2nd: Poland 1st: Hungary
25- I like it, mainly because it's one of the few catchy songs of the year 24- It's nice to see Joe Wicks doing something before workouts. Song was pretty weak though 23- I like his voice, not the song 22- It got boring quickly 21- It's nice but boring 20- Zzzzzz 19- I really like the song, very catchy and the outfits are fantastic 18- This is growing on me 17- I think this is brilliant. A wonderful song 16- A catchy and upbeat song 15- Little Red Riding Hood is growing on me 14- So beautiful, one of the best debuts ever 13- Another decent debut, hugely underrated 12- I don't like this that much 11- Zzzzzz (again) 10- It's a sweet song and I like her voice 9- It is very cheesy, those backing dancers are awful 8- This didn't work out for me 7- A lovely song with a fantastic singer 6- Alright, not for me though 5- It's decent enough for me to grow to love it 4- My favourite, no brainer it is a party 3- Not the best winner but it is sweet 2- The voices are good but they shout for the most part 1- Our entry, thanks for the love. A good song, very catchy and she's from where I'm from so I have to give a local credit
Completely agree about the quality of the year, so many ballads drag it down but there are still many amazing songs. My favourites are Germany, Hungary, Russia and the UK!
Out of all of RTÉ’s efforts, this one was a real slog to get through. I’m not too pleased about the postcards, they took way too long (and - as Terry pointed out - pretty much only Dublin). Lovely songs and a wonderful stage though. My points: 1p 🇷🇺 Russia 2p 🇮🇪 Ireland 3p 🇨🇾 Cyprus 4p 🇮🇸 Iceland 5p 🇳🇴 Norway 6p 🇬🇧 United Kingdom 7p 🇦🇹 Austria 8p 🇳🇱 Netherlands 10p 🇵🇱 Poland 12p 🇩🇪 Germany
1994 was really a very good year! 1. Ireland - 2. Hungary (my winner in 1994) - 3. Norway - 4. Sweden - 5. Cyprus, Poland, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Estonia, Russia
You usually have my favourite songs of each year so low on your ranking, and this is year is no excpetion, as Portugal is my favourite song, not only of 1994, but also of all the songs from Portugal on Eurovision.
I’m glad to see you’ve ranked the UK highly - I don’t think you’ve ever ranked them in the top 3, I don’t think in the period from 1975 (apart from 1977)?
Yes, the UK was my 2nd in 1977, it may have been in my top three in 1988, I can't actually remember. The UK was also my winner three times in the first ten years of the contest, although one of them has changed since I made the video. 1959 (Now Austria), 1960, and 1962. I've also ranked the UK 2nd in 1971, 3rd in 1973, and it may have been top 3 in 1965, and if not, it's certainly risen to top 3 by now.
Completely agree about the running order, almost all my favourites were either in the beginning or end of the show, unfortunately leaving a huge gap in the middle of many not very interesting songs. Ireland is my winner and has become one of my all-time favourites!
1994, that was an interesting year. I'd say it's on the weaker side, but there's still some great songs to be found here. here's what I think! 25. Switzerland 24. The Netherlands 23. Estonia 22. Sweden 21. Russia 20. Poland 19. Portugal 18. Croatia 17. Lithuania 16. France 15. Spain 14. Austria 13. Malta 12. Slovakia 11. Romania 10. United Kingdom 9. Iceland 8. Cyprus 7. Norway 6. Hungary 5. I'm impressed by the number of amazing songs in 94, but also by the very big number of awful songs... I absolutely love the UK entry this year - very contemporary and it stood out (it is my 5th - good choices were made by the Croatian, Portuguese and Swiss juries, I’d say). However, I’d also say that 10th was WAY too generous for the UK’s entry of 1995!

Frances was so underrated. One of my favorite UK entries. Great choice as nr. 1
You can do 1994 songs ranked by length of singing the title
The UK should have won this. That song is so stylish.
