  • We compare what is the same and what is different between these 2 popular electric vehicles. The trunk space and rear passenger space come up very different. They are also both built on the same E-GMP platform which offers flexibilty in manufacturing. These are a couple of the best EVs on the market right now.

    This was definitely the best comparison I've seen for these two cars, congratulation.
    I own a First-Edition Ioniq 6, and I love the car.

      I don't blame you for loving that car! There is virtually no wind noise, and it's like driving in a recording studio at times.

      I actually sought out a job at Hyundai because their EV engineering is sooo good. I think the Hyundai EVs are top notch 👌. My kids love the 5; they call it the minecraft car, lol.

    I just subscribed after watching this video. Great job of describing the cars. I am trying to decide on an EV and I was impressed with the Niro by KIA and haven't demo'd the Hyundai 5 and 6 yet.

    • @livewirereview
      @livewirereview  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Craig! We hope to review the Niro at some point. They have added the V2L feature (also in the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6) in the Niro which will be excellent for power outages.

      @@livewirereview My wife and I went and test drove the Ioniq 6 the other day. Nice enough car. The gear stalk kind of ruins all the good things the Ioniq 6 has to offer. It is about 2 inches from my knee and looks odd as hell. The price is ridiculous. All these car manufacturers are trying to cut a fat hog with their pricing. My house that I purchased in 1988 only cost a few thousand more. That house is worth over 200 grand now and that Ioniq 6 will lose value the minute someone drives it off the lot. Outrageous. If they want to sell cars faster then they need to get realistic on what they ask for them.

    I would probably get N version of either 5 or 6. My main goal is to fit a particular child seat that needs more space front to back, I think 6 would be a better fit.

    Good video guys. When you get a chance to drive the Ionic 6, can you let us know if it's efficiency hits a wall around the 110km/hr mark ... my Bolt does and another reviewer noticed it on his time with the Ionic 5. I'm guessing the sedan's slippery shape may take a range hit if driven above .... 130km/hr?

    • @livewirereview
      @livewirereview  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is why I took the time in our Leaf review to talk about the boring drag coefficient. You'll love my rant!
      With the lower drag coefficient, the Ioniq 6 will stay efficient up to a higher speed than the Ioniq 5 or Bolt.
      However, Tesla Model 3 is excellent on the highway for 2 reasons. #1 Is the 0.23 to 0.24 cod and #2 is the syn-RM motor in the rear that is 10% more efficient right out of the gate.

    Pause at 5:25; I just noticed that the cruise control is on the right in the 5 and on the left in the 6...? It's odd that they would do that within the same brand!

    I am Ioniq 6 camp. I like both but one area I spend a lot of time at the range is a big deal.

    • @livewirereview
      @livewirereview  ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. The extra range really comes in handy when in places like Cape Breton, where there are only 2 chargers on route. (At the moment, this changes pretty quickly nowadays.)
      But if you have to put your cargo on the roof, then that drag coefficient will suffer, and you'll end up with a similar range.
      It's amazing how some cars only go 240km, and Hyundai hits it out of the park with a 581km range!

      @@livewirereview I test drove one last Saturday and it is my next car. I’m just waiting for the 2025 model since it should be coming in a few months. The ride is great, the sound system is good, the car is amazingly quiet. I don’t think people appreciate how quiet it is. I like the turn radius and the power is more than enough for normal street driving. My sister is used to driving a Tesla and she wants an Ioniq 6 once they get NACS and Supercharger access.
