"I love you so much more than me" - Oh wow, that made me think of my best friend who died three and a half months ago. The world without him absolutely f***ing sucks and I don't understand life without him.
I am sorry for your loss and I feel your pain even through those brief words. I hope you will figure out your way through your grief and find some light while doing it and finally a place of solace. 🫶
@billiejo6938 I was actually feeling stressed when I clicked thinking she'd have that "look" and I'd be so disappointed and creeped out, but while JLD looks normal and herself and I'm so grateful to see that.
This culture has a lack of security to death. I worked for a non-profit Hospice organization and this really "scrambled my awareness" towards death up close & I come from a culture that taught our Spirit does not die! I'm so happy to see this subject be shown to comfort & deal to find peace within the experience. Blessing to all
Hospice is amazing. I spent the last few weeks of my brother's life with him (as opposed to him being alone in hospital at the height of Covid) and Hospice was absolutely vital, administering palliative drugs and bathing and the morning I woke up and he was gone I called the number and they took care of everything! He died at peace in his own apartment with his sister nearby. It was a life-changing experience for me.
Tuesday has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and the critics raved about Julia's performance. That said, I simply cant put myself through these movies any more - life has enough challenges without struggling through someone else's pain. I salute A24 for making these movies in the age of Marvel domination at the box office = clearly others are willing to take the journey and more power to them.
@@teenygozer great - actors have to eat - but the A24 studio has nothing to do with said universe AFAIK. Even if they did, Tuesday is unlikely to be a big hit with the kids. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A24
Kudos to A24, Julia, and all involved for approaching the topic of death with intense authenticity and enormous grace. We are all temporal beings, fellow travelers on a madcap adventure just passing through, soon to be starstuff. The more we talk about it, explore it, peel back the layers, the less daunting it becomes.
Stephen made a massive point: "Denial is a dead end." That statement applies to everything, America. Julia is America's girlfriend. Love her madly. So much talent in one lady.
I don't think I'll be able to watch this new film "Tuesday". Our daughter had life-threatening health problems as an infant, and had to have massive surgery. Prayers and support kept us upright during the ordeal, but all it takes is a couple of thoughts of that time, and I'm almost certainly in tears. I wish JLD all the best with this film, and I think she is marvelously talented and funny, but this may be more than I can take.
Its like Stephen said Julia is a national treasure. I am not even an American and I love this woman she is funny AF, I think she's an extremely underrated dramatic actress. She did this really adorable movie with James Gandolfini called Enough Said and if you have not seen it its so good, I totally recommend it. I will be checking this out as soon as I can. I don't usually follow many famous people but Julia has a fan for life in me.
I think it was just a challenge to describe or explain it to the audience without sounding nuts or making the movie sound so weird that people write it off as a "nope".
Oof, that scene from the film just absolutely knocked the air out of me and then it cut back to Julia and Stephen with tears in their eyes too and I was gone.
We lost our 37 year old daughter 4 years ago to Cancer - I have not accepted it, and probably never will. It's easier said than done - bottom-line, your kids are suppose to outlive you.
I lost my 38 year old daughter 5 years ago. I know where you're at. Love and sympathy to you, and may we both find the path no one should ever have to travel a little easier. ❤
I literally wrote down a note for myself months ago that says “Watch and listen to wise women” I’ve been on a search lately for wisdom and mother figures
The trailer and this clip already get me crying. I hope I can handle the movie. She is so wonderful, beautiful and amazing. While Seinfeld is long term brilliant hilarious comedy, Julia is over all the best thing to come out of Seinfeld beyond the show. Love you always, Julia. Such a delight. Such a heart. Such a soul. You are my younger Sally Field. Who has also always been one of my all time favorites. And you remind me of her. Thank you, dearheart.
Back in the 90s I witnessed a great example of some one who was a gifted comedian also showing a gift for the dark side. I went to an art show in the college town I was living in. They had asked a mutual friend to perform during the show. He began with a one man version of one of the darkest scenes from "A Clockwork Orange". He sat in the middle of the room while everyone lined the walls to watch. It was so intense that the people who walked in during the performance turned around to leave because they thought he was just some crazy guy losing it. Knowing that he couldn't leave folks with just that image, he followed it with a telling of the story of "The King Midas Touch" in the character of Yoda. He had people laughing uncontrollably. Robin Williams is a great example of being able to master the extremes. Julia doing something like Tuesday is something that I can't wait to see.
I've ALWAYS enjoyed LJD's performances, but WOW! I cannot wait to see this. I may have a virtual watch party. Great segment. I love you two together. 💜
It most definitely is the same. Why? Because all humans live with both happiness and sadness throughout life. And good actors portray those emotions, depending on circumstance. Hence, the work is the same. Completely parallel.
Great woman, great actor, and that clip was amazing. I'm an actor, she's got it all figured out, and of course she knows nothing. Just like any great actor.
My stock answer to old age is, “it’s inconvenient”…..at 76, still working as a cashier, I wait on so many old people and enjoy them so much. Men and women have totally different ways in dealing with old age….and, the common thread is humor.
Julia Louis Dreyfus has done some interesting films! She once played a woman who murdered her husband and baked his body parts in a pie (Picture Paris). Look it up! I am looking forward to seeing this film.
This seems like something that should be pushed for Oscar season. Even that short clip made my eyes a little misty. She and the actress playing the daughter are fantastic
That movie looks sad as all hell. Seems like she did an excellent job in the role, though. Would be fun to see her win an Oscar someday. Looks like she's capable. But this film looks like it's going to wreck some people.
Everybody dies. How and when is the only unknown. I have not seen this movie yet, but I plan to. I have had much death in my life...siblings gone far too soon...my mother has passed from Cancer...I am a young widow whose husband succumbed to Cancer...But I will watch this because I adore cinema and the catharsis it can ignite...... I think Western society needs to confront the inevitability of death so that we may live more fully. We tend to distract ourselves from this unavoidable event during our short time on this planet and, thereby, iften miss the point. Life can mean so much more if we stop ignoring/denying that it is a terminal condition...#LIVE #LOVE #MATTER #BE
I wonder what J. Louis-Dreyfus think about "grief and acceptance of death" of thousands of Palestinian kids, a dozen of them burned alive in that school last week.

That premise sounds intriguing. That clip was heartbreaking and intense. I appreciated what she said about the similarities between comedy and drama.
Comedy = Tragedy + Time
JLD is such an all-around fantastic actor. Comedy, drama, Marvel... it doesn't matter. She always brings her A+ game. Kudos!

And absolutely gorgeous as a bonus
