YES! More Descent please! Your IA playlist is what actually got me into painting in the first place. It's slow going as I don't have nearly enough time but here I am a year later, having just finished waves 1 through 5 of IA, and I've got the rest of IA and the entire Descent collection waiting for my brush. I admit I've started branching out with my own color schemes using your techniques but I've been neglecting Descent just hoping you would get back to it. So glad you're on it again! I hope to see more Descent videos, but I'm just happy with whatever content you make. My thanks, sir.

I only just got Descent for Christmas. It'll be years before I begin painting anything, but these videos are going to come in really handy. Thanks a lot!

Understandable. I was thinking either the new Mounted Theoden model or even a tutorial on mass painting many units (Such as the orcs) in the box set would be popular at this level of current interest.
So keeping in mind that this is based off of artwork for the game, its definitely not the first thing that pops to mind when I hear/read "Shadow Dragon"; instead I immediately think primarily greys and blues, with some purple (this mainly comes from descriptions of the Shadow Dragons in older versions of AD&D). That being said, the final look is definitely both interesting and striking; the warmer tones look more like human skin, darkening towards the purple-brown shadows, and all of this is set against the very vibrant, toxic glow from the venom/acid which provides a *very* distinct, high contrast. The green did make me wonder though; have you tried out the new Hexwraith Flame Technical paint from GW? I decided to go ahead and pick some up, and when it dries it creates this very rich emerald-jade tone that might have been helpful in achieving the green glow.
Very glad to see more Descent stuff! Excellent work as usual, and definitely going to have to use some of these tips for my dragons. Planning on going for a more purple look for the master! Are there any other patreon guides for descent?
How do you choose your colour scheme? Do you test before? Normally your colours are a composition of other colours what I've thought never, and the result is awesome. Thank you for give us this kind of high level content!

I'm about to get into mini painting. Do you thin with water or a medium?
Hi! In these videos I'm just thinning with water (unless otherwise stated), but lately I've started adding a few drops of Daler Rowney's Flow Enhancer. :)
@@Sorastro One less thing to get started, that works for me, thank you!
@@Sorastro Is there any reason you don't use a wet pallet? I'm not sure if I need a wet pallet or the one you use.
@@nspinicelli Hey! Although I do generally use a wet palette these days, for some of my more beginner-oriented series I might use a plastic palette to keep things simple (and also to show that you don't need a wet palette to paint well). 😀
@@Sorastro Awesome thanks! I'm excited to get started. Your videos made me realize how relaxing it can be and got me excited about it. I did it YEEARS ago, like 1999 on some Imperial Guard units, my only minis I've ever had until I got my Descent: Journeys in the Dark set, which led me to you.
CHEERS!
Green stuff? do they sell green putty? or can I use something like green playdoh?
Hi! There's a link in the video description to where you can buy the Green Stuff (and no - I woudn't use Play-Doh) :)
@@Sorastro right thanks :D
No problem! :)
Yes, the Shadow Dragon! Sorry, but comment first, watch later 😉
Ha ha - enjoy! :)
@@Sorastro Well, I watched it. Amazing, absolutely amazing. With this tutorial I'm pretty sure I can reproduce this, I'm just amazed at how you can find the right colour combinations! Two questions: how much time did you spend on testing on the first dragon? And which Descent miniature is next?
Thanks lot Anneke! I can’t remember exactly how long spent exploring colour combinations but it did take me quite a while before I arrived at my final selection. The next two Descent videos will cover the Merriods and Tomble Burrowell (although not necessarily in that order) :)
You make mistake. Wings have to be brighter and more re (because transluency and red blood), and bones of the wing must be darker! Because they do not pass the light thrue.
At least under the wings, membrane have to be brighter then bones!!!
Thanks for the tip! The next time I see a dragon flying around I'll certainly look out for that :)
@@Sorastro hehe )) you can see it in game of thrones, for example.
You cheeky bugger you painted Ashiran and didn't' even post a video.
Ha ha, true! I did produce a PDF guide for her over on Patreon however :)
Will we get a video for her?
Hi! No I don’t produce videos for minis that I’ve covered as PDFs; the main reason I produce the PDFs is because it lets me get through more minis than I would otherwise be able to do (because they’re quicker to create), and it doesn’t hurt to offer a tangible benefit to the patrons who fund my work. :)
