    Exit baffles (db killers) are usually more effective at cutting noise from what I have found. They do a good job of reflecting the pulse waves back on themselves and cutting down on the noise. No matter what you do, that single cylinder thump is hard to tame since low frequency noise travels through things more than higher frequencies. My VFR is far louder than my Hawk, but I can hear my Hawk at idle in my house much more clearly.

      It did get rid of that weird wine sound , so I may end by putting the exit one back on. Even my own family complains when I ride that bike in the AM hours

    I agree with you on this point. I just got a Yoshimura Exhaust for my Ruckus.

    I liked both, didn't like the squuek in the first but I like the sound a bit better despite that. As for neighbors...they've all figured out when I can't hear my tv because of their (insanely) loud music for more than a minute here or a minute there (eg, it doesn't bother me when they're rolling in or out with it loud, just when they've got it so loud that no one on the block can hear anything inside their own homes because of it), that I'll find myself a reason to ride past their house at 4,500RPM or above every hour from midnite to daylight the next day, which has solved that issue all but 1 time 😂

    did you get any performance boost with the KPMoto Club exhaust?

  • @glsracer
    @glsracer 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Definitely try another top speed run. Also, have you considered doing a port and polish on the head? Lastly, do you run 91 or 93 octane fuel? The Lifan 200cc engine has high compression so 91 octane will be the minimum required to get full performance. At 17 HP, the Lifan engine is only getting 77% of the HP it should get with proper tuning.

    • @SmallEngineVelocity
      @SmallEngineVelocity  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      87 octane , port and polish would be awesome and wow are you a mechanic or engineer ?

    • @glsracer
      @glsracer 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SmallEngineVelocity, yes but not a mechanical engineer. My technical training (at least as far as mechanical devices are concerned) is in Aviation. Automotive performance is a hobby and I've studied a lot material relating to engine performance, modification, tuning (both EFI and Carburetor). Motorcycle engines are very similar to automotive engines in many ways so the knowledge transfers pretty well.
      I would suggest running 91 octane for a week before re-running any performance tests in order to give the ECU a chance to adapt. After that only run 91 or 93 octane if possible. I'd be interested to see if you see higher top speeds and better power underload (like while accelerating hard going up hill).

      glsracer it was nice to see someone had the same suspicions I did. Glad you brought it up. Always nice to hear from an engineer that has a clue what they are talking about. (I was a mechanic, by and large we hate you guys.)
